The reason you have to back up all the files is that M2TS files are like a DVD with a INFO file. Remove one file your software can not edit them right.

I might be wrong but that is something someone told me.

Shoot in 24p is best for low light.

The springs inside the zoom lever get loose if you play with the zoom too much. End result is that at random times it zooms in on its own.

Otherwise a very good camera for loud environments. Excellent mic settings for loud environments, better than the HFS11 I believe.

Great Vid. Picture Quality looks awesome! I'm looking to buy this camera but I wanted to know a few things:

Q1: Does it have the "Time Lapse" recording feature? I would like to record sunsets, sunrises, etc.

Q2: Does it have the "Slow Motion" capture feature? And if so, does can it record in HD? I would love to use it for to record myself swinging the golf stix.

Any help would be much oblige!

Clearly you don't know much about cameras.. Anyways it does not have a "Time Lapse" feature because a time lapse is simply hours of footage sped into a matter of seconds so that's more editing based. As far as "slow motion" goes, it only goes up to 1/2000 for shutter speed which is very high for a handheld however you would need something much higher for an actual slow motion shot like on the show Time Warp. In that case, you're talking about a high-speed camera which are much more expensive.

i just read this review from "NYtimes" and it says it doesnt have night viision and it has about 1 hour of batter life.....but for image quality 5/5

you need a mic. the audio sounds funny, like youre far away. if you have rockband you can use the mic with your mac and it will work great. thebluehour uses it

Nice Camera. I used to LOVE Canon, but unfortunately I have no luck with Canons. I had a Canon Digital Camera fail on me. I've had problems with 2 Canon printers. I am skeptical now of Canon products. I think Sony makes good products but I don't like the fact they use pro priority memory cards. I know that Sony makes the best TVs and displays for sure.

If you change your import mode from auto to manual you can choose which video(s) you want to import. I have the HF-100 which is essentially the same camera and I think these canon cameras are simply amazing.

You can avoid importing all the videos at once by switching to "Manual" on the import screen in iMovie '09 (when it detects the camcorder).
