perfect example of a kick serve, it isn't perfectly straight which makes it harder to read, and it kicks up to his hitting partners single handed backhand. Very effective on high bouncing hard courts, not so much though on clay, because the sideways movement isn't as effective, and it is better to hit it straight and it'll bounce higher

He HAS aced Djokovic 5 times in a row, going from 0-40 to winning the game with straight aces. Everyone has their own serve, and Tsonga's serve seems to work for him. It takes an idiot to criticize it

you all realize that his toss is not very extreme compared to some people. And you sort have to toss it behind your head to hit a kick serve! That is one of the best tosses on tour for a kick serve!

I have the same toss, but I'm trying to correct it as I fear that this type of toss will lead to back injury ( 0:39 ), though I only do that maybe 15% of the time now.

i like his serve. he has his own style and variation but still keeps the basic components of the serve, which are weight transfers from forward backward and back to forward.

after looking at these comments i think its kinda pointless to try and tlk about wat tsonga is doing rong because he is a professional and has a professional coach who is der to give him advice. i think ur time is better spent trying to understand what he is doin correctly to improve ur game.

I think he should get his shoulder blades in line with his head so he's looking up at the ball without craning his neck. I think he should be pushing outward to the right with his feet more to improve rotation at launch. But, I'm guessing here of course. Visually, it looks like he's flailing a bit, but maybe that's a good thing, if the looseness increases speed of strike.

@westhkk well this is his second serve. its the only reason y i watched this video is cause is second serve is so accurate. his first servve although is very straight upward and he attacks very forward into the ball

Whatever or however he toss the ball doesn't matter. All it matter is that he's good. He's a pro, no point of judging him negatively when you suck more.

You can actually see that his toss is not completely consistent on the 2nd and 3rd serve he hit. They're both kickers to the same spot.
