You don't need a volt driver or a heavy automatic shotgun to get through the library easy, I made it through just using my ol' trusty throwing knives :) put four of them in their face and they're down, and if they by any chance should survive, just pick the used knife from it and throw again xD

man, I remember the guy talking about do this do that, don't ever look away from them or run, and most people are lucky to even survive seeing one... didn't know you didn't have to do nothing, so i always waited till they were 10 feet from me, emptied my whole assault rifle into their face, then unloaded on he heavy auto shotgun. dead in 10 seconds or so on hard mode. ended the level having killed something like 14 of them.

haha if you stand still and don't move they come up to you growl a bit then walk away, I just went at them with the heavy auto shotgun takes about 11 shells to the face to kill them, but the gun fires very fast so it isn't really a problem. just stand still until they come up to growl at you then unload in their face :D

some tips - for people who consider playing on anything but the hardest a waste of time.

throwing knifes abnd the helsing are the most efficient against this guy.

but why!? just stare in his face for a couple of seconds and he leaves.

you spend less time, so your filter doesnt expire + no need to take a risk fighting them.

some dangers - on the 2cnd floor, there s many holes, so look before entering a room, momerize the layout. youre going to have to walk backwards quite a bit.

Okay when I went into the libary I actually fought them. Like full on fight. Killed around seven of them. Almost died a shitload of times.

Wind422A you did this the smart way. You tried to avoid fighting them over doing what I did and wasting all your ammo. Yes, I did get an achievement for killing one, but honestly unless your an achievement hunter, don't bother. I am playing the game over once more so that I can have everything. I'm going to do just what Wind422A did.

You're definately able to kill them. I killed each one except for the one that grabs you in the wall and the one that jumps at you near the lift. They are so damn hard to kill though. It took all the ammo I had and then my knife.

To me the easiest way to kill these bastards is to repeatedly stab them with the throwing knife

no need to wasting explosives or ammo. Just 5 throwing knives to the forehead. I just wait idle, the librarian come, and when it stops before me for a sec (as always): bam-bam! Litttle run backward then other bam-bam-bam, then it falls and I pick up the knives. that technique makes it really easy and you can conserve the precious ammo.

Look them in the eyes. Dont show them your back or they will attack. if you keep look them in the eye they will leave, but when they walk at you go a few steps back but dont run. Keep it slow, if you go back too fast or too far you will get attacked. 10 shotgun shots can take em out.. Much but good you only meet em in 1 chapter?:P

if you dont want to waste all of your ammo on those nightmarish mutants, find the pneumatic sniper rifle(after you shoot with it you can find the bullets again) (i have seen it 2 times on the game) and then simply kill those librarians and take your ammo again :D

All you have to do is stop and look at him when he moves near you just slowly back up but don't show your back, when he moves you move. Eventually he'll just back off and run away. Beware though, he shows up in different rooms.

@maxkhson When he gets too close (he will attempt this about 2 or 3 times) back off a little, and keep that crosshair at his head. It will work but however since there are more than one, and they will attack you any opportunity they get so just go in guns blazing with the auto shotgun w/ bayonet, but be careful not to get ur gasmask too badly damaged

ive heard several remarks about the audio samples used in game in relation to Valves games, -or more specifically CCS. i cant relate what i ve heard to CSS but i did notice that one of the creature sounds (i believe its one of the surface lurkers, -the ones that are humanoid quadrapedal beasts with prarie-dog like mannerisms) is strikingly similar to that anguished holler the zombies in HL2 make, -like a re-processed variation.
