Atherton is a very nice town. It is very expensive with most sizable homes starting at $3 million. It is home to high-powered business people like Charles Schwab and Meg Whitman. Atherton is a very Republican area.

This home sold in July, 2005 for $5,600,000.

@JohnRhysMusician I live in Atherton you can't say a area is "Republican". I know that there are a lot of people in the city that are crazy republicans but, that doesn't mean you can say the city is. I'm a Democrat well, my parents are it is.

@letsgorunescape The area surrounding Atherton is a Democratic stronghold, but Atherton is strongly GOP. I believe the last statistics were that 55% of registered voters were Republican. The town voted for John McCain and George Bush in 2008, 2004, and 2000. Very unusual for the bay area. My aunt and her husband live in Atherton too. I love the town.
