Great tune made even greater by the range given by noor jahan. Her effortless range is unmatched by any other singer. To have become so good at such an early age is a miracle. She was a gift to music and now, music is an orphan waiting for another noor jahan. I am fortunate that I heard her alive in concert as well as close in a private performance.
@supeer45 Thank u for your note. Lata is great, but was not able to go much above the third octave. Noor jahan is the only singer of Indo-Pak region who went to the fourth octave. Lata has admitted Noor's range as unbeatable. Otherwise all credit to Lata. best wishes.
Thanx dear Miilahi for your response note.Yes you may argue about the deepness in their respective voice based on the notes of the octave but both are supreme in their own rights of their singing carrier a life devotion.
Nice to meet you here
keep posting if you come across some old collection..1920 to 1945
I am only 46 but still love old songs and this song is one of them.
Let's not forget that just 63 years ago it was one and the same country and even divided, the subcontinent still shares the same cultural heritage. Let's preserve it together. Who knows maybe in that manner harmony will prevail between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Mir Sahib Happy new year to you. Is it possible for you to explain as to why the composition in film is different than the recording of this song on the record. So much so the voice had completely changed. When you listen to this film track it reminds you of the same Noor Jehan of Gaon ki Gori, Jugnu etc..This is beautifull song. Even after sixty years I and the whole sub-continent enjoys in the same spirit as we used to enjoy in fiftiesand sixties. May God bless her soul.(03Jan 2011)
This song keeps ringing in the ears long time after you hear it. Is it the voice, composition or the lyrics? Wonderful song, brings back so many memories.
Unforgettable Noor Jehan. Thank you for the upload.
asali bhav to original version se hi pragat hota hai...
though the remix version is also commendable considering its one of the best remixed song and brought this melodious old song to everyone's attention, still the original is original. to fee l the depth of the song.
A little correction / information for all lovers of this song. In one of her interviews, Noor Jehan mentioned herself that although film Dupatta's music was composed by Feroz Nizami, but this songs music was composed by Late Musheer Kazmi. The interview of Noor Jehan can be seen on Noor Jehan Chanel. Interviewer was Anwar Maqsood and the program was Silver Jubilee.
What a lovely depth of voice Noor Jehan had. Had she been in India her voice would have had even a greater outreach. The partition has snatched her away from us. There are only two voices/ two Punjabis who are uncomparable Mohd Rafi and Noor Jehan.
Original was listening to this song on Radio Pakistan from 2000 miles away during summer nights. Still sounds great! Thanks for classic memorable songs of this movie.
barson hum EMI kay hathon in teen lafzon ka dhoka khatay rahay.. Original Sound Track is not the one recorded in EMI studio Regal Chowk Lahore but the one that pertains to the movie..like this one. Thanx a lot Mir Sahab.
Thanks for uploading this beautiful song, far and beyond that i came to know originally it is old song and its remix is superb too which was released way back in 98.

Hats off to master composer Feroz Nizami for his music in "Dupatta". I think this film was made in the undivided India era.
