I usually hate new metal shit cause its ridiculous and boring but the Deftones are so damn good, the bass player got a fender deluxe- man everybody likes them
i'm no druggie but i TOTALLY get deftones' music. they're one of my MOST fave bands in the world.. i really feel chino's emotion in almost all of their songs.
they're sound is just different, nothing like it and it never fails to make me high, teary eyed, cry, i dont know.. it's just sensually intense..i'm hooked!

@stickydate07 He went to the hospital because of vocal cord damage in 2001. His voice isn't worse, its just different now with less screaming. Plus, back in the White Pony days, he was doing drugs pretty hard, which no doubt affected his voice. Even if you says his voice sucks now ( I do disagree), I still say good for him for being able to shake off the addiction and still be able to sing the way he does
I love Limp and Deftones but fact of the matter is Deftones are an ensemble of people who make crazy alternative music in a beautiful,heavy way., whereas Limp is the prodigal talent of Wes Borland compressed into 3-4 minutes songs made to be easily accessed. They are completely different things. No use comparing them just because Fred raps as a primary style and Chino raps occaisonally.
What's most hillarious is that the Deftones did not release this track on the original album. They felt like they didn't need it and that it sounded too much like all of the other posers out there. Deftones rule...

When the record execs saw that similar albums from Deftone's camp (Limp Bizkit in particular) were killing them in sales, they requested a more rap-focused single version of the song. They ended up re-releasing the album with this song instead of "The Boys Republic."

true, they were here a couple of weeks back in San Antonio, and I heard the same thing. He can't sing live. Got em on CD's, the cat can pencil out sounds we have not heard before..

@jetouchet Hey fuckhead! How about you do a series of international tours for over ten years, tour the U.S; having to do dozens and dozens of high-pitched inward screams every night, and THEN TRY TO SING. Fucks up your vocal chord.
I saw them live in September and Chino couldn't have sounded better. He was having so much fun that he said 'another forty minutes of us, ON THE HOUSE'. They played for almost 3 and a half hours.

@Drratburn - Whats with the anger. I made an opinion. I just don't think he sings all that well live. If a person chooses to perform in vocal range he can't keep up with, then stop destroying your vocals. David Draiman of DISTURBED knew when to stop doing the hard vocals and his "bark". I still listen to Deftones, will continue buying their music, and most likely will see them again in concert. I posted a comment, not a message of hate. Seems like you may need to relax. Peace.

@Everyone Chino was sick for like a week and a half on this tour and rather than pussing out on the Conan appearance, he did it anyway. That is why his voice isn't as good. I still respect the shit out of him for doing it.

this is how i look at this... Deftones are the most influental band to the teenager "culture",well as myself,i love deftones. This song is fuckin awesome. Anyone that's trollin on deftones should burn in hell. Peace.

You need to understand this: Back To School was Maverick's (their former label) idea to get Deftones mainstream. Chino openly hates that song. But GOD FUCKING DAMNIT! Compare this one to any of your little nu band one trick ponys and you'll see that Deftones absolutely earthquaked the floor right there. Got it? Good. Now listen to their albums. End of story.

It wouldn't even be hard to point out easy things in similarity without even writing a thesis for it. So simple to see the similarities and differences when comparing 2 things of the same kind.
