I've always been a fan of Messiah, but last year I saw them with Lowe and he blew me away. He's awesome and a perfect singer for Candlemass. Of course, I'd love to see them with Messiah, but I really, REALLY enjoyed Lowe's performance and didn't miss Messiah one bit.

What's the worst case scenario for a Candlemass show? It was 1990 or so and I was at the 9:30 Club in D.C. Liege Lord was an excellent opening act... but then it happened. The MC comes out and tells us that MM couldn't sing as he'd just been to the doctor with throat problems. What a BUMMER!!!

My favorite Candlemass song ever. And it seems as though the video is just a bit out of sync with the song... thus MM not being able to bang his head properly!

I think this is an amazing song. I agree with most here that Messiah made Candlemass. For some reason though, when I hear this song I think of Leif Edling the most -- the beauty of this song says more to me about the guy who wrote it than the guys who performed it (I know, he performed it too, but I think you get what i'm saying).

Candlemass's best singer was Johan Lanquist fromt their first album. Messiah is almost equaly as good but Johan is a little bit better in my eyes. But Messiah is cleary second best.

This is what I feel to be Marcolin's best song, in the way of vocal performance, at least overall. I think this a fantastic song and not with a dark message but a message of hope. It uses religious allegory, it is very biblical. You find the poor guy and out of your heart you save him from the suffering and the poor mans promise was heavenly goodness, which arrived at the good guys death.

I discovered Candlemass back in 1990-- bought their Live album-- which is their best effort IMO. Then I got Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (86), Ancient Dreams (88) ), Nightfall (87), and Tales Of Creation (89). This is off the Live album. Trouble and Candlemass really took the elements Sabbath introduced and developed two strains of doom. Candlemass's more refined , melodic style and Trouble's unbelievable heaviness and rawness, as in The Skull
