  • Thanks.

First heard this somewhere near Totternham around 1981. Not sure where. Not sure how I got home. Remember the gig though,

Can anyone post Through With You ?

  • Leyton Buzzards were not Modern Romance. Two members the same.

  • YES!

  • chris morris is on drums

  • shite?wot the fuck you on you prick!! !if you had even half a brain cell you would know that LB had more than one hit.they were one of the greatest most under rated punk bands of the 70s.try listening to songs like "british justice","disco romeo" and "land of the free" b4 coming out with total bollocks ok?

  • Not surprised they only did one single...they were shite.

  • Typical of it's time this, like Joe Jackson, Skids, B.A. Robertson, Jags etc Good times

  • It was based on a night club in Luton

  • @MickArcher97 No way, its about the Tottenham Royal, used to go there, plastic palm trees and near tottenham hale station, seven sisters road, awesome that it has a video to go with it, i lived at walthamstow very near Leyton, David Beckham came from Leyton, typical Essex Lad.

  • I loved this band, bought this single and the album, joined the fan club and then they split up! Can I have my £5 back please Geoff?

  • Thats my dad! (geoff deane)

  • @WeAreMisfitBmx : What's he up to now?

  • didn't they have a song- " no dry ice and flying pigs " ?

  • @fodleg yes they did it was on a b-side of one of their singles

  • As an Arsenal fan im strictly opposed to the mentioning of Tottenham in songs. This is a great tune though so I will let it lie.

Anyone remember 19 & Mad, also a great song (Small Wonder records?)

  • LEYTON BUZZARDS RULE! LOVE 'EM.

  • You're wrong Neil. Two members of the Buzzards went on to form the five piece Modern Romance. I know because I was one of them. Geoff D

  • What was the line up of the first single - called 'Modern Romance' - on Warner Brothers?

Wasn't it the same lineup as 'Can't get used to losing you' by the Leyton Buzzards - on Warner Brothers?

  • @terrymessias Still got the £3.99 price tag on the vinyl. Couldn't wait until the CD version came out 25 years later, thanks Capt Oi. Do I file it under L or B ?

  • @terrymessias - if that really is the real Geoff Deane, please tell us - where can I buy a download of this song? It's not in iTunes, Amazon or anywhere else I've looked. I'm an old punk, just turned 50, but this is my favorite song of all time.

  • @stevemallard2010 - Did you get a reply? I'm desperately seeking a copy of "Jellied Eels to Record Deals" - looks like it never made it to CD :-(

  • This is so much better than the TOTP 2 version - Steve Wright gets it wrong again! saying that Geoff Deane was the only one in Modern Romance! Leyton Buzzards WERE Modern Romance!

We did our first London gig in March 78 at Leytonstone Red Lion supporting this lot. When we came off I had spit on my guitar and shirt. We weren't used to this happening up North and I'm still not sure if the spitting meant they loved us or hated us!

  • My mate Joe had this single. It's a classic. To think they turned into "Modern Romance" Bless em. Hope they made some money. Hangin' around isn't on here
