@victorinoxfan i think its worth it man. that's just me though. theyre just made so well. definitely a luxury item & for folks that aren't all super serious & silly about what knives they own but I think that if it does everything a "normal" needs throughout the day people should lighten up. This one is very well made. I just sold my stock & I'm keeping one for mel
I was so close to pulling the trigger, but literally 2 minutes after posting that comment, a knife that I've been searching for like two months came up. I just jumped on that. Thankfully Burnley has a forum on USN. So his stuff pops up from time to time at good deals.
What's up, Dave!!! Yep, you were right. The one on the bottom, the more blue one, that's the one for me! I'm nuts for getting TWO Ryu knives from you but I love 'em that much!! Thanx for making the vid, man. I'll be contacting you soon. Oh yeah, Happy belated Turkey Day to you and Mel!
@NeptuneKnives I was just watching another video you had and you mentioned problems with Strider and then Spyderco, you didn't say a particular knife. I was curiously mainly as I have always found them receptive of discussions of issues with their knives.
@CliffStamp well besides it having a weak backlock & some play just cuz of the soft FRN handle what really bugs me is i was opening it a couple times & noticed later I had pieces of skin missing off my thumb. It was the blade cutting my finger each time I use my thumb to open it when I pressed on the blade & didn't pay attention to keep only the tip of my finger in the opening hole.
@NeptuneKnives Yeah, FRN does have issues, especially with extended use if you are using heavy force as the knives can develop slop in the blades. You really want liners or a stronger slab material for that kind of work.
I have never noticed any issue with the openings though, do you have that demonstrated on video?
@joewest69 Thanks man I know LOL but you can hate the messenger but at least I'm keeping it real & not just being a fanboy of everything. I'm just noting things if people can't handle it & improve then why support them. If folks say I sucked at sharpening well I keep at it not just get pissy & post negative comments.
Peter is a new and upcoming knife maker. His knives are hot and fresh. If you want another one. Look in the Cove or in the Knife Maker section on Blade Forums. That’s the only way you’re going to get one.
His order book is a year out. Not bad for a new knife maker whose priced right.
@thedetalente I like his goals in mind but if he can't take criticism then he's not a pro. Other makers make no comments & then just fix it LOL Hey you're defending Peter which means ur undervaluing a Strider. Pic & choose your battles here. There's no way not to offend some1. It is a matter of opinion
Then you have a private conversation with him and tell him you want more knives and he tells you he makes one knife at a time and can’t meet your demand so you turn on him and say he's a bad business man? This knife is priced right. If this was a Strider or Anso it would be over $1,000.00 you got the knife for less than half of that.
So you personally attack him in writing saying he's a bad business man? I think you’re the bad business man. Just my opinion.
@thedetalente No th issue is i work with a lot of knifemakers & the overall knife isnt at the level of some other guys so it isnt priced right. Being new he should start a little lower & work his way up IMO If he can't fulfill orders then thats ok but I know new makers that make knives faster & are cheaper & better unfiortunately. I'm not gona lie & say it is worth it over a Strider SMF
@thedetalente I am still trying to work it out with Pete via email before I make a vid showing all the flaws. I think if the knife was a gen 3 version made by some1 that's willing to take feedback & has been doing this for decades then it's worth it. Right now the ball is in his court & I'm waiting to see. If he's gona react by saying because I dislike certain things that I'm not important to him then the door swings both ways but I'm trying to find out what's his viewpoint is here
Ok, so you Praise the Peter R. Knife in your video? You say the knife is great and the materials are the best out there. You say it’s a lot of knife for the money even compares it to Strider? You say you can’t get knives like this for the price and you love it and support his work?
@NeptuneKnives That Peter R knife has the idea i wanted to do in the future, i didnt know ppl inspired to do that, that frame lock with the liner over it, an i dea i thought i thought of. just cuz he does this doesnt mean im not going to in the future.
@buktush yes I will need to add into the description that you are still early on in progress so people must realze just like myself there are some limits. I apologize for forgetting to mention this! I have been re editing the comments to try to be as polite as i can & am not trying to put you down. I think in the vid I said to support new makers bringing something new to the table such as yourself Pete!
@buktush I would be fine if the knife was at the level of an ANSO for the price. I want people to support new makers but at a price that matches the level of design & fit & finish so that it doesn't undermine the veterans out there that charge a price but offer higher quality & expertise. I think you should charge less I'm sorry sir. For now to start charge less & grow. Keep improving & then when seasoned & positive that some1 like me gets one in hand it will be flawless. I will make a follow up
ive only just begun to work on making runs of 25-50 knives and have my first waterjet runs almost done and ready to be finished.
i feel your jumping the gun a little here by stating im un business savy. how many makers after 6 months of making were where i am? im progressing slowly and never made any claims at being speedy.
it is hard i understand to get an accurate view of an individual via emails an impersonal comunication, so ill chock this whole thing to misunderstanding.
as you may or may not know, ive been making folders for like 6 months. and i do 100% of my work in a 9 by 10 foot spare room in my basement. i have no fancy tools (except a kmg style grinder). it takes me 2-3 days to make a folder. and i have over 50 names on my order list. as well as the fact that i send my knives out for ht, it takes alot of time to get a knife done. the wife is pregnant and health wise not so well, so somedays i dont work at all.
Thank you do much Dave for being a great contact. I know that without a doubt, you will be my connection to the custom knife world! I love dealing with you and you are so splendid to work with. That TSF CCT Lefty is looking' beautiful. I can't wait to get my southpaw on it!! Take care brother!
Yeah too bad about Peter R.. I've been in contact with him since he took on my project a few months ago and he's been awesome.
I'd suggest looking into Direware solo v1 if you're looking for that ultra beefy folder..for the price of a standard SMF, you're getting full custom fit and finish, s35vn steel, bearing system pivot..I'm absolutely loving mine
Thanks for the Great Vid, I always enjoy each one, very informative! I really like seeing 3SF Pieces, I think Jim Is a no BS Pure and Honest kind of Maker, and Love My Beast and CCT, Thanks again, and have a Great Thanksgiving Jim! .
I hope Mell is getting better, and keep up the great work making Vids!
I like the PeterR knife looks great. To bad it a one of a kind. I like Jim Allen Beast l whould love to have one lefthand.

Very cool Burnley. I've come across one that's hardly been used for $400. I'm contemplating it pretty heavily.

all these knives are junk until you double hand spine whack them against a tree, if the lock doesn't give out then it is a good knife
