HAIL ROME!!! The Best Empire the world has ever seen and the longest lasting. The idea that the Roman Empire ended in 476 AD is total bullshit, the Eastern Empire lived on till 1453.
That's funny about the historian saying go an make your Pumpkin domes. Pumpkins were cultivated in the Americas, not yet introduced to Europe, Asia, or Africa. Sometimes, I think these historians make stuff up. Which is terrible. Fake history stinks, I like it factual.
@jmitterii2 The word for pumpkin and the word for squash or large melon are synonymous in Greek. The pumpkin Apollodorus would have referred to wouldn't be the pumpkin we know today, but a different kind of melon that they'd still call a "pumpkin".
@nicelegsbabe actually, it probably does. about 70 percent of the english language comes directly from latin. the meaning has changed a little bit over the course of time, but still... xD
@1993heavenshallburn I doubt that it's 70%, but in general, more complicated or scientific words were derived from Latin and Greek by monks who didn't have a suitable English word whereas simpler more common words (and, water, earth) were probably derived from local languages such as Anglo-Saxon.
It is amazing that the main structure of the Pantheon has survived several centuries of turbulence, wars, barbarian invaders,earthquakes...MAGRIPPAL.F.COSTERTIVM. FECIT!!!
