In the northwestern Australia, we have huge tides,

huge evaporation and huge dry rivers and lakes.

Tides are up to 12m. Evaporation is up to 4m per year and can be increased.

Huge 12m tidal erosion can revive old dry paleo dormant once mighty rivers, creeks and lakes,

desalinate the country and change deserts to rain forests to provide more rain across Australia.

World population is growing rapidly and we need more energy, food, land and water.

It seems to me that Obamas administration is making a lot of decisions before considering the consequences of their actions. Im not saying that this waste needs to be stored in Nevada; however, the administration should have considered where they where going to put this stuff before shutting down the only option it had. Its Gitmo all over again. .

The Yucca Mountain Repository is a massive and expensive project. I doubt it will be mothballed just because the current Administration "has no plans" to activate it in the near future. So, I'm sure they'll find someplace for the spent fuel rods (either Yucca or elsewhere) before 2035. :)

What I mean to say is that Obama should have had a plan to deal with this stuff before closing the door to the only option he had. It's ignorant. It would be like giving away your only source of income to a stranger, and hoping you find a new source.

Maybe, but it's not quite that simple. Dating back to 2006 there was some interplay between the DOE, the EPA, and the Nevada State Government that created a loophole allowing the Nevada State Government to veto the use of Yucca Mountain. Nevada vetoed the idea, which means that, no matter what Obama does, Yucca Mountain may not be available for use.
