I first saw this 13 years ago - and it looks even more cringeworthy now than it ever did. There have been two widely known examples of Formula 1 mechanics being so pissed off with their drivers' performance that they finally cracked and took out their frustrations on their driver - Andrea de Cesaris, Austria 1981 and Ricardo Rosset, Monaco 1998.

@TheAcidEiffel What you mean like Christijan Albers? Albers didnt had the best material in his f1 career. If you much further than his Formula1 career he won Formula Ford, German F3 and was nearly DTM champion. In my opinion Albers is a talent!

Okay outside F1 Albers was a talent, but in F1 he looked like a boy, ending with a fuelhose on his car driving out of the pitlane by his own mistake (wrong gear i believe).

But Yuji Ide in those years was far worser.

The accident with the fuelhose was at Magny-Cours( and his last f1 race ;-) And besides that he was in the (Dutch) media very arrogant, he though that he was the best thing ever. Do not Forget Deletraz!! He was well off the pace with Larrousse and Pacific. There have been many drivers worse than Rosset, although he is probably still one of the least talented. Inoue was terrible at first to, but he did improve through 1995 1. Jean-Denis Délétraz 2. Giovanna Amati 3. Yuji Ide 4. Enrico Bertaggia 5. Volker Weidler 6. Taki Inoue 7. Claudio Langes 8. Giovanni Lavaggi 9. Ricardo Rosset

Yeah, that's right. But in 97 he was driver of the Lola-Team and didn't start at one race. After two attempts to qualify the team retired.

Yeah. it angered Ken Tyrrell so much he quit his team one year earlier than promised. BAT (British American Tobacco) had bought his team and it was going to be renamed BAR in 1999, but remain Tyrrell in 1998 with Ken in charge. This idea to sign Rosset was the drop that spilled the cup and Tyrrell handed over total control of his team to BAR.
