  • Excellent knot. Thanks for this bit of knowledge; I have used it tie down tarps on various things. I favorited for reference.

  • now how do u attach that to a alice pack

  • wheres the tree portion?

  • super slick. great knot and am sure it will lighten up my loads.

  • Ahhhhhhh man thats awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for adding another tool to my kit! I hadn't previously known of this knot.

  • Awesome vid! Well done, simple, and easy to follow.

    Great channel too.

  • P.S. That came ouf of my Iawoodsman "line kit", have one in my ATV saddle bags, one in my overnight pack and one in my scouting pack. Don't leave home without 'em boys.

  • Good answer to bowlineobama, I like that. The Canadian Jam Knot got me out of some trouble today in the Canadian bush! Lost a large allen bolt on my ATV fairing and the thing was bouncing around something fierce and guess who popped into my head? Iawoodsman and his Canadian jam knot. It made a perfect temporary mend with metal to metal and didn't bounce an millimeter after cinched down. Thanks for your great instruction.

  • @canesser1 That is a cool story glad the knot helped you out

  • Very useful. Always enjoying added knots to my system! Thank you.

  • saw this vid about a year ago and have been using this knot for many things. thanks for showing it. Great vid

  • Mors Kochanski talks about the "jam knot".

He describes it as one of the "most useful knots in Bushcraft".

    Awesome vid dude.

    Thanks!

  • Been using this knot for a decade. (in bushcraft, fishing and to build dogsleds) Never knew what it was called. Only recently I was told it was called Arbor knot and now you gave me the name Canadian Jam. I think that this knot is my 3rd most used knot right after the Siberian hitch and sheet bend. Thanks for sharing!

  • super easy knot that will come in very handy...thanks for the video.

  • Excelente nudo! Muchas gracias!

  • This knot is awesome, I just used it today for my sleeping bag and blanket, now Ive got more room in my bag. Thanks for the video...by the way, Canadian jam is a way better name than arbor knot.

  • This knot is called " Arbor Knot". Look it up.

    Khan.

  • @bowlineobama When I was taught this knot it was referred to as a Canadian Jam. I don't need to look up any thing.

  • @bowlineobama TROLL

  • That's great man thanks!

  • Holy crap! Thats so easy, how havent I ever seen this before. Screw straps that dont bite!

  • lol. Team guy!

  • Hey, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this info. I've been using this to cinch things ever since I came across these two videos a couple of weeks ago. Works much better than my old way.

Also, hope you don't pay too much attention to these whinebags crying about your gum chewing. Here you are freely giving of your time to impart valuable knowledge to us, and some folks would rather pick apart the most menial of things rather than just be appreciative! That's what's disgusting!

  • Great stuff!

  • One thing I'd like to add: if you make a bowline knot at one end instead of an overhand knot as a stopper, you can not only use it as a pull tab/loop, but it's also easily undone. This way, you don't lose any of your cord. Great video btw! Keep 'em comin! =D

  • He sounds like he is chewing gum while doing this video. It sounds disgusting!

  • dude check out my mora sheath security vid and tell me what you think of the knot i "invented" great vids.

  • Excellent! Colhane has been using that knott for a while and I really liked it when he showed it to me, but I didnt memorize it! Now I can check it out as many times as I want til I learn it good, as it´s in my fav´s list!! Thank you so much my friend! You got some real nice videos, brother! Regardings from Brazil!

  • @giutoniolo I am glad you like it. was taught that knot many years ago. I am glag that this knowledge is getting to people who will use it. If you ever find your self in IA give me a call and we will go to the woods.

  • great vid! Next time try not to chew gum! ;-)

  • @spirituscanis Thanks for the reply. I've tried it, and the jam knot, and it works GREAT! Echoing you, saying thanks much for the video @iawoodsman.

  • Great tip! Thank you

  • Any reason you can't use a figure-8 for the first knot, so you have a better chance of untying it if you really need to?

  • @rockspydre No reason at all. It is just a stopper knot.

  • @rockspydre I was just about to make the same comment. I haven't tried it, but I can't imagine the figure-8 wouldn't preserve the end of you're line.

Other than that, this seems like a super useful knot to know. Thanks much for the video @iawoodsman!

  • Very useful knot. I'll be setting up four Alice packs with them as sleeping bag carriers today.

Kudos for the great information on your channel.

  • great vid, thanks for posting

    5/5

  • this works great, been using it about 3 months or so now, couldnt function with out it

  • Beauty of a knot, Ia.

    Thanks,

    Iz

  • Great stuff :)
