I don't believe in any of this. I still like watching it but I'd NEVER swim in this lake, or the Loch in Ireland just because of the stigma of the stories. Then these Hollywood make believe creatures just give me the willies. You might fear horror movies sometimes but ultimately you don't believe in them.
folks my ass explodes soon!!! an elephant doesn't have red/brown colored skin - they've GREY skin!!! and the eyes are much more down. the skull is wrong. the neck from an elephant is strong and not that way. this animal it's neck is becoming thinner and thinner by following backwards. and the ears got cutted away or what. please compare with elephant anatomy and skull... no CHANCE! no similarities - please stop screaming "IIIEEEH ELEPHANT!" - it's not
Sorry, but it's not an elephant. The shape and color of the head is wrong. Plus if you watch videos of elephants swimming, they keep their trunks above water like a periscope to breath. This creature did not. The shape of the head is the similar to fossilized skulls of pliosaurus. Same with "Champ" from Lake Champlain, and "Nessie" from Loc Ness. They recently found a coelacanth, a prehistoric ocean fish thought to have been extinct for 65 million years, and a prehistoric shark.
This had me fooled until I was watching a video of elephants swimming in the water. They are identical. ELEPHANT - DEBUNKED. I have to hand it to you Youtube fans, we get some really useless crap on here.
It is definitely an elephant. You can even see it look right at you in the close up. Who knows why someone let the elephant go for a swim but that is what it is doing.
It is definitely an elephant. You can even see it look right at you in the close up. Who knows why someone let the elephant go for a swim but that is what it is doing.
@hootyhaha Really? You just got on and looked through all of these comments to pick one out from so long ago and think up a response to it? Hats off to you.
@hootyhaha I wasn't trying to talk down to you at all by using that word, I was just sort of baffled that I got a response on such an old comment. I guess I was too aggressive with that last comment though. I honestly didn't mean to offend you, I just felt sort of attacked I suppose. Thank you for the compliment.. I really don't know what to say to it..
True, I don't think that it's an elephant, the water is much too salty and would wreak havoc on it's skin. After looking at it, I think the two most likely explainations are either 1) it's something being towed behind a boat or 2) it's truly something that we don't know about
The monster in lake van is all the dead Armenians killed by turks during the Armenian Genocide! The Armenians who were thrown into the lakes and rivers!
The prof thinks it could be a marine reptile that comes to the surface only very rarely? How much is rarely? Marine reptiles breathed air, so it would have to surface frequently!
The fact that elephants don'ty live in Turkey can't be used to say it's not an elephant. big cats don't live in England yet there are still hundreds of sightings a year of them roaming the countryside. It could be someone's escaped pet or something. I'm not saying it definitely is an elephant, even though it looks a lot like one, but I'm just saying you can never discredit an idea by the fact that those animals don't 'normally' live there.
Yes elephants do swim. But, notice how close the eyes are to the relatively narrow head. Also notice the bubbling from the animal's underwater exhalation is very near to its forehead- unlike anything that would be expected from a creature that would stick its very long trunk out of the water to breathe. Nope, I don't think it's an elephant.
If you look for video's about swimming elephants you can see they do not hold their trumps in the air all the time, but only frequently. This footage is simply cut each time the elephant would breath. Why do you think they play it in slomo and cut away after a few seconds...
@R4yiN they also swim with their trunks under water too. Look at videos of elephants swimming then this vid. Im not saying IT IS an elephant it just looks like it.
Dr. Avni Ozturk - now thats a made up name to start, also what the fuck is he a Dr in by the way. I like how he says the beast probably lives in the deepest part of the lake, coming to the surface very rarely - NO SHIT !
@ShankFlick Sorry, we just wanted to see good old Europe once more, before rolls over and transforms into North Arabia. It was good knowing you Europe. We'll miss you.
Watch destination truth and u see something long in the underwater footage at Van Lake. They say only a eight inch fish species lives only in Van Lake but Destination truths underwater cam shows a long thing swimming past the camera.Proof that Van Lake has something living there that science doesnt know. Period.
It's not tha suprising they can survive in that salty water. Ever heard of the marine iguana? It expels salt from it's body. Who's to say it can't live there because of the salt? If it is real, it would be able to stand the salt or the brackishness, the lack of fish. It could eat massive amounts of algae, seaweed or even plankton, just like a blue whale or something.
maybe its an elephant in it and the waves make an optical illusion? like when ur walking down a street in a hot day and it looks like theres puddles on the road? idk just a wild guess xD i have no idea wat that thing is but i doubt its a monster.
tht does not look like an elephant. if u want the whole video it goesall the way underwater, its a water creature, not an elephant. hwy r ppl os skeptical about this like this? there could b re historic animal still living. specially water animals.
The only legends of Van Golu (Lave Van) is that it has the legendary VAN CATS that like to dive in the water and swim around. The Soviets killed thousands of Armenians citizens around the lake and dump their bodies in Van many decades ago. And there is a legend that Lake Van is the actual site of the Garden of Eden covered by Noah's Flood water. That may account for the brackish water. Also the Lake is land locked. There is NO access to the sea or rivers. It is surrounded by mountains.
I think its a tourist attraction hoax. Nothing can stand that amount of brackishness. Even the old Sumerian/Akkadian legend of Utnapishtim or Noah (Legend of Gilgamesh) spoke of the bitumen in Lake Van and a paid boatman was needed to get across to see Utnapishtim (the remote one) as even humans could not stand the water. Also everything floats in VAN nothing can stay underwater long if it has any air or gases in its body.
y is it that in ever country wif a big lake they hav a monster the same as nessie lol its like they r competeing to see who has the better lake monster hahaha
It's not an elephant, the head shape is all wrong and they swim with their turnk just above the surface as a sort of snorkel, there wasn't any such bow wave in front of it
@kurdeundgesetzlos1 god can you guys stop fckng fighthing about turkey and kurdistan.. and by the way there is no such thing as kurdistan and van lake is in turkey.. I assume you are practicurarly ignorant and stupid
@ulashh1907 your fucking turkish people dont interest me but dont say that van is a turkish city its a KURDISH city like diyarbakir, mardin and so on. Thats the reality all the inhabitans say that
well what you see in this video is truly an elephant taking a diving lesson.you can almost see his ears.........if there had been anything else thats bigger,it probably would have been shot by stupid mankind.like they always do
the shot your talking about truly is an elephant at 4:03 you can even make out its eye. the thing is the show needs too show off something too grab viewers but you are right about that clip being an elephant not too say their is nothing in the lake just that the shot that was shown was no monster
@sonofthedestroyer no dude you open your eyes when it shows it swimming pause it and look at it closely look at the features it looks like an elephant
If it was an elephant then the trunk would have been outside the water the whole time. Elephants keep their trunks out of the water so they don't have to take a breath; instead they use it as a snorkel. They also don't usually dive.
Ok your absolutley right I havnt been studying biology an ecology my entire life dont know sht bout animals of any type lol you guys should get together start a think tank an solve the worlds problems
i wonder were u studied what elephant doing in turkey we dont have elephant in turkey but we have lost of donkys i don t think they can swim can donkys swim u are the one who studied animals ?
All equines (donkeys, zebras, horses, ponies, etc.) are able to swim to some extent Yes. Maybe it was a captive elephant we have tones of asian and african elephants here in the us. Thats alot further away from asia or africa than turkey is. Ever heard of the persian empire, they used elephants all over that part of the world. its a tourist gimic and not a good one. tho my area of expertise is herpetology and marine biology, ecology in general.
@ThePacman300 - The waters of Van Golu are TOO brackish for ANYTHING to survive going in the water for more than a few minutes. Even a human could not dive in certainly not any equine or elephant. In the video one scientist said some fish couldn't survive 15 minutes in Van. BTW Lake Van is in Armenia or eastern Turkey. It is not too far from Mt Ararat where Noah's ark came to rest.
yes donkeys can swim just like horses and elephants. Who is to say that hoaxed shot was even taken at that lake at all. PS Asian elephant not African elephant shown in the clip people will see what they want too see.
I don't think it's an elephant I've seen an Asian elephant diving in the water at the zoo, and it didn't look like what has been captured on that film
Defo elephant. They can hold their breaths underwater. The film is short. They are probualy hiding the truth and cut the film out whenever he raised is trunk for air.
That thing doesn't even look alive! It doesn't move like something that's alive and moving on it's on, just looks like it is being moved by something/someone else. <_<
That is an Indian Elephant swimming in the lake when elephants swim only their head is slightly above water to say their body sticks up out of water is rubbish as its head is higher up compared to the body the one in the picture probly belongs to a Circus and they took the picture
This is nothing else but a elephants head. Who is diving down under water. You see the bubbles coming up to the surface when the elephant blows out air from the trunk.
why dont they just get on a boat and tie a water proof camera to the boat and then just put it in the water and then go out in the river but not to far and then just wait for a few hours and then pull the camera out and see if they got anything
Its being pulled by a boat , and the bubbles are from a air hose.

If it was an elephant then the trunk would have been outside the water the whole time. Elephants keep their trunks out of the water so they don't have to take a breath; instead they use it as a snorkel. They also don't usually dive.
ThePacman300, don't act like you know animals

atila11222 2 years ago
All equines (donkeys, zebras, horses, ponies, etc.) are able to swim to some extent Yes. Maybe it was a captive elephant we have tones of asian and african elephants here in the us. Thats alot further away from asia or africa than turkey is. Ever heard of the persian empire, they used elephants all over that part of the world. its a tourist gimic and not a good one. tho my area of expertise is herpetology and marine biology, ecology in general.
ThePacman300 2 years ago 2

I always wondered where my ex was, now I know! It's the slithering through the water part that gave her away!
namrednop 2 years ago 3
um, salt water is even more boyant that regular water, which makes this hard to even think it is an elephant, it might be amphibious

I don't think it's an elephant I've seen an Asian elephant diving in the water at the zoo, and it didn't look like what has been captured on that film
Twilightmia 2 years ago
Defo elephant. They can hold their breaths underwater. The film is short. They are probualy hiding the truth and cut the film out whenever he raised is trunk for air.

That thing doesn't even look alive! It doesn't move like something that's alive and moving on it's on, just looks like it is being moved by something/someone else. <_<
ChouHimaDakedo 2 years ago
Hey! Look at the circumstances! This guy happens to have a camera with him and tadaaa!!, there the monster comes out! Very convenient huh?
I'm not sure it's a elephant. To me it appears as a large lifeless object that is dragged by a boat or something like that.

That is an Indian Elephant swimming in the lake when elephants swim only their head is slightly above water to say their body sticks up out of water is rubbish as its head is higher up compared to the body the one in the picture probly belongs to a Circus and they took the picture

Looks like an elephant but im not 100% its really an elephant.
carl0556 2 years ago
This is nothing else but a elephants head. Who is diving down under water. You see the bubbles coming up to the surface when the elephant blows out air from the trunk.

If it is an animal, it eats.
Get tons and tons of food, pile it up in one spot and wait for it to come.

FrigidSnow 2 years ago
why dont they just get on a boat and tie a water proof camera to the boat and then just put it in the water and then go out in the river but not to far and then just wait for a few hours and then pull the camera out and see if they got anything
craziigurls109 2 years ago
no idea. Maybe when they find out it's not real or something else..it's not a mystery anymore and won't attract toerists,
