  • thumbs up if u agree with him

  • ''You have to lose yourself to find yourself''

  • respect to you Champ...Left this world better then you found it. Pure class, an inspiration and example for us all. R.I.P.

  • Wow, just came across this. Someone with their priorities straight. This guy is like a gentle MMA version of Bill Hicks.

  • wow. truly one of the most intellectual people to have ever graced the UFC.

  • Good messages are hard to come by these days and this man...is trying to send out a non-hostile, positive, easy, loving, strong, powerful message in the hope people will wake up and listen, take it to heart, and start changing for a better world.

  • wow even spoke exactly how i feel about the world, god bless you evan, people will always shun the good guys in life, the world needs more of you

  • i went to The Gladiator Challenge last night and found out there Evan Tanner Died dude i was like no way i thought the ufc just got him out of contact or something i thought he was fighting in the smaller shows,, I was shocked he was a gifted dude now watching him speak its like he gave himself to a higher power. or he saw Pointbreak to many times cuz Patrick Swayze said the same thing about its where you lose yourself and find yourself..

  • Yeah really.

  • kinda looks like will ferrel

  • god damn it i miss you so much evan, why the fuck did you have to die? he was my favorite fighter for as long as i can remember and i miss watching him more than i can even express. R.I.P. evan

  • Unfortunately dying was the best way for his voice to be heard. I wonder if that's what he thought

  • "Lose yourself to find yourself"...Evan Tanner was a great man, and a helluva fighter. Love this guy, can't believe he's been gone for over 3 years already.

  • little actions........great quote....

  • with all due respect (and remember im saying with all due respect) this is kind of boring. someone should have wrote this. with that said what a bad ass.

  • @FILTHYPAKI your proper bland arnt ya ....yawn

  • what an amazing human being. I wish i could have met him

  • I think Evan said it best: Now you may ask if I regret it, if I would do it differently if I could, if I would take it back. NOT A CHANCE! I went for it. I put it all on the line. I always will. I knew what the consequences would be if I failed, and I was willing to accept them. So any of you reading who might be feeling a twinge of sympathy, don't. I made my decisions, and I accept the consequences. I'm no victim. And to those who are thinking about preaching at me, don't bother.

  • @heknowsitall So you are prepared to die a fat troll virgin?

  • He would have been a great documentary filmmaker.

  • This is a truly enlightened human being.

  • What kind of horrible person could click thumbs down?

  • @marshalloo22 people who need to get punched in the face......

  • @patwalshe1 you wish more people were alcoholics, suicidal and squander their God given blessings? Why?

  • I wanna salute this man

  • God bless his soul

  • @Zami9000 oh, yea. He heard a higher calling. It came from an empty bottle of whiskey....Tanner was a deeply troubled person and romanticizing this tragedy is stupid

  • I love to see this extra element in fighters... I hate fighters who look at fighting and life as a structured mundane platform... im not superstutious but i do believe theres a huge reason why evan tanner is not with us simply because he heard a higher calling and he proceeded to heed that call...

  • Everyone has demons he lives life his way without being as selfish and materialistic like most of us he is absolutely right in his beliefs never pity him pity us who see the world in the way we do, a great person to learn from RIP Evan.

  • poor guy. may god look over you

  • Comment removed

  • It is a shame that the guy struggled so heavily with his demons.

  • i wish i could`ve met him live in peace brother

  • Evan is on another level as a man and person!

  • @shay33ish yea, he is on another level. 6 feet under...

  • Evan was deep on so many levels! Your voice was heard and will be heard brother. I never met you and I watched all your fights and heard your words-they resonate with me!

  • Thanks Evan for what you contributed to life!

  • @shay33ish I would find a better role model then someone who squandered opportunity, was an alcoholic and may or may not have committed suicide...

  • @heknowsitall You have problems dude. Hear what the guy is saying. Everyone goes through times of adversity. At times the only thing that can enlighten and help somebody understand the true problems in the world is adversity .

  • @heknowsitall "You have to lose yourself to find yourself" - Evan Tanner in this very video. He lost himself, (alcohol etc.) and then he found him self and learned from his mistakes.

  • he just made me feel so mutch better about my future, im 18 have shit gcse's done 2 pointles years at collage but fuck it man, big love for even the wise man

  • lets start changing the world by destroying the corrupt, tyrant government, and replacing it with a body of law that protects the individual from the majority.. every man deserves to live his life the way he pleases, without interference from others...from the earliest times, the world has been ruled by tyranny.. may god release us from the slavery of other men

  • Do you dummies realize when you have eyes that don't function properly, the amount of light into the eye isn't normal. When I don't wear my glasses, my pupils are tiny(it just let's a smaller amount of light into your eye.)

    Opiates. Fuck off.

  • @900blueberry trust me i know for a fact that he was using some kind of an opiate by the look of his pupils. so u fuck off bitch!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i had a chance to meet this legend at ufc 83 and security kicked us laggers out. fuck them to hell. this man was such a fucking inspiration to us all. if only i was so lucky to ever know this great man. shit im a hardass and i even had watery eyes back in 08 when i heard evan died!

  • look at his pupils......opiates

  • @TheMostHayted I was thinking the exact same thing... pinpoint pupils.

  • 8:06 words to live by

  • Really sad to lose someone trying to make a change for the better of humanity I hope we can all learn from Evan

  • Damn this guy was a philosopher in this clip. Its just his opinion but I agree with Evan 100%, despite his demons he was a wise man.

  • I have the action figure of Evan Tanner on my wall for inspiration. Out of all my other collectibles, I choose him for just being him.

  • What a refreshing champion. Godspeed Evan- ur words mean alot to me

  • evan tanner has true respect 4 me...87,033 view feb 4, 2011

  • hes voice is heard.

  • Anyone who can approach Martial Arts thoughtfully gets my respect. It's east to rush through things and get them over with quickly when you're being tested and you feel pain, but to stop and think about your approach and further adaptation shows a good heart.

  • Great fighter and a very interesting life. RIP Evan Tanner.

  • legend

  • i hear you evan tanner.

  • seems he was on a path to better things. and in a strange way maybe it was for the best he passed in this phase of his journey. the next phase, where he learns that the world does not care enough to work earnestly towards those ideals, would be very tough for him to cope with. however i suspect that he may just be the type of person that could fight through that. the dream of a better world is really nice to think about. but bringing into reality means busting a lot of ignorant heads.

  • Man a lot of people could learn from Evan Tanner! I think much the same way he does when it comes to being happy and sucessful in life, you don't have to have 100 grand dimonds or 400,000 cars or 4 houses, all you need in life is love, family, and the bare essentials that will make anyone happy. I agree with him that a lot of people think that way about going to college getting a degree, then fitting in with the inner crowd, or "sociably accepted" crowd! You get in where ya fit in and visa versa

  • Thats REAL TALK Evan Tanner. Too many people caught up in the rat race for status, money and material belongings. Can't take it wth us, and we're never satisfied with what we've 'got'. Never ever satisfied. So its on to the next thing we can get.

    R.I.P Evan. What a legend!

  • @jonnotheboyo

    Amen to that brother.

    Great man.

  • wilson.....i love you wilson, i never want to leave this island without you

  • Evan Tanner will live for ever!

  • Taught himself to fight with books and videos...He believed and so it was..

  • @brutusbruno

    what im doing now man

it gives you such a deeper insight

  • rest in peace evan

  • I loved Tanner, but is it me or does he sound just a little crazy?

  • @adalvldadalvld he sounds like a true human being, maybe you should open your mind a little

  • @joshuacollins1990 Your probably right, but I didn't call him anything, I asked an opinion. So if your gonna answer me try not to sound like an emo faggot.

  • @adalvldadalvld no. lone wolf

  • @adalvldadalvld We are born insane and then we learn a structure of things. Tanner seemed to be more in tune with the mental aspects of life rather than material. A person is crazy if you can't empathize with their mentality. Maybe he was a little too "deep" into his life journey, who cares it was his life.

  • R.I.P Tanner. At the end of the day you are right it's the people that are around you that matters not the materialistic things. My eyes are opened a little wider thanks to you.

  • Fuck I miss this guy. He was always a great person and an amazing fighter from start to finish. I'm alittle surprised how alot of fighters have been acting in the octagon when he died. Fighters need to love and respect eachother because like any controversial thing, it has an enemy that's waiting for it to crumble and eat itself alive so those asshole's don't have to use their personal opinions to attack it anymore.

  • R.I.P. Evan you were a great person and we miss you greatly

  • instead of writing "into the wild" about Chris McCandless they should write it about Evan Tanner. Evan is deserving of that kind of thing. I think hes message is worth writing about and to also show that such a "brutal" guy ( because hes a fighter) has more to him then just that. I wish i knew all this about Evan before he passed.

  • Great fighter, better human being.

  • @xxxIronHeadxxx your cool, its funny cause u make no sense considering hell doesnt even fuckign excist

  • @xxxIronHeadxxx your goin hell aswell you punk

  • @xxxIronHeadxxx what for? what "sins" did he committee? being a good human being?

  • @xxxIronHeadxxx

Awww... did Evan bang your girlfriend or something, chump?

You're a jabronie and won't ever be anything else :D

  • Lets not confront or reply to the trolls. Evan was a warrior in every way and his memory shouldn't be tainted by paying these trolls any attention.

  • OK OK you sound like a broken record! You want to be heard ! you said you want to be heard 35 times! He just repeats himself over and over

  • Even though you're no longer with us Evan you'll always remain a huge favorite of mine. R.I.P. Evan... love u man... always a warrior

  • He seemed like a great guy. About women and money. I would want to have a family some day bug right now I like too many girls. I can´t decide to be with one girl.

I do agree with that money isn't worth much if you are all alone. If you have money you can do fun things. I want to have more money so I can visit friends in many different countries and travel a lot. I value experiences more than stuff. I have also thought that whatever you do can be fun or boring depending whom you are with.

  • Evan was a true warrior. He never talked crap and just fought. He was a tough guy to the soul. We miss you Evan.

  • i heard you man

  • all 3 thumbs down need to die you faggots, evan was more of a man then ur fucking hero let alone you

  • A short life but a great one. A nice humble fella who realised what is truely important in life. RIP

  • RIP Evan... Id really love to sit down with you and listen to what you have to share with the world.

  • Im growin the beard

  • Such an amazing man with such a true warriors passion! A TRUE AMERICAN HERO! :) Believe in the power of one!

  • Such an amazing man with such a true warriors passion! A TRUE AMERICAN HERO! :) Believe in the power of one!

  • it's always a beard b4 the death, all the greats who begin to think deeply grow mighty philosopher beards..Jim Morrison is 1 that come to mind right now

  • Great words from a great men. RIP

  • Evan was certainly an enlightened individual, and it's a goddamn tragedy he had to go the way he did because the world really needs more people like him.

R.I.P. Evan Tanner, I will remember you forever.

  • @StOnion yeah like Bruce Lee.

Evan seemed like a Buddhist and that is a good thing.

  • i loved his voice,the spirit +the fighting style !

    R.I.P

  • evan tanner was herd as nails. r i p man

  • Evan Tanner was a wonderful person. RIP.

  • evan fight not for his personal legacy, fame, achievements but for the purpose to look and realize some things on it's different perspective unselfishly...not your selfish, boastful ordinary fighter...a great person and a great champion...RIP...

  • 72,600 people have viewed this, how many r actually beleiveing in the power of one and making a diffrence? Please do more than watch

  • R.I.P.

  • you're all ridiculous. rip

  • i do really respect his struggles and have a lot of simpathy for a man who just could not find his place on this place we call Earth but he said exactly nothing over and over again. He probably had a lot inside but had no tools to express them. And that's even sadder.

  • "Simpathy?? " I am sure ET does not need your simpathy. "said exactly nothing over and over again" ?? Apparently you didn't understand the man's deeply profound and wise message. A pity.

  • I might have not understood his message but you definetely did not understand mine.

  • he was a awesome fighter very smart man a real thinker ill always remember him like that and hope i can use some things he taught me thanks evan

    R.I.P

  • yeah....a simpleton like you would appreciate a speech like that.

  • nice comeback.......for a near-do-well.

  • he said the same thing (nothing) over and over. "it's not about me, having the belt is a platform, things need to change...." blah blah.

WHAT *EXACTLY* DID HE WANT DONE?!?!

  • I agree but you oughta pay some fucking respect to the man

  • @ElephantRage evan tanner was a man of deep thought. much respect for him.

  • @laxpol You'd have to be a long time fan of Evan, and know where he has been, and what he has seen... to know that answer....

  • A very good man, miss Evan. RIP.

  • he was so fuckin' cool

  • who tha hell is this hhdv fuck?? yea evan tanner had problems, who tha fuck doesn't.... RaikiriBLaZE thats a very good point and i completly agree with you,and i'm pretty sure HDDV is a brock lesnar fan

  • I'm truly inspired by this man's words.

  • Great fighter & a deep soul. Such a shame you couldn't conquer those inner demons. Evan Tanner may you finally find peace.

    God bless.

  • Comment removed

  • AWESOME!! Let's spread his words forever! Thanks, Evan.

  • Pouring out a 40oz of water for you, that you could have used.

  • RIP EVAN.....

  • 1 year.rip bro

  • what a beautiful soul.

We hope his journey is still going & we will continue his messages.

    RIP Evan Tanner.....a quiet hero

  • really he set a great example for upcoming fighters. and this is a big reason why brock lesnar only hurts the sport, because he has the platform where is voice can easily be heard. something a guy like Tanner looked for reasons beyond being the top guy, only proud in himself for what he can do for himself.

I really hope there are guys wanting to enter this sport who follow better examples in generations to come. It will only be for the better in MMA...

    R.I.P.

  • It's been a year now, and nobody has forgotten, Your still an inspiration my man. Hope you've found what you were always looking for.

    R.I.P

  • for ppl that are dissing evan tanner you really need to listen wat he is saying.....he is a amazing guy and the way he thought is damn better then half the world today....EVAN TANNER WILL BE MISSED,

The big guy upstairs needed a ufc champ by his side RIP EVAN TANNER

  • a real, genuine person...there soo hard to find these days.

    r.i.p. evan tanner

    you will be missed

  • Good stuff, food for the brain :]

  • How Did He Die

    R.I.P

  • he dehydrated and collapsed on a trip in the desert

  • He may have passed away but if anyone has noticed that when you learn from people that have already passed away it's as if they are still alive. And I think that is to be immortal. Look at Bruce Lee.

  • better die doing what you love than live a boring and lonely life.

  • I'm a big fan of Tanner...this is why I wish he would have thought his trip out alittle better. I understand the need of some risk in hes adventure but to go into the desert the time of year he did..with temp reaching 120 deg , and to go as far out as he did, was way too much of a risk.IMO I just wonder if he didn't understand how hot it was going to get or just didn't know it was the WRONG time of year to go.

  • no one cares about your opinions on his death...this video was uploaded to spread his message and to bring glory to a great man who is tragically not here anymore...he was a good fighter and a great person.....rest in peace

  • I heard your voice, but it was not to be...i heard your message, but it was not to be...I followed your voice, your message, I came to be...

  • he died in a desert from heat exposure

  • may your soul finally be at rest evan, you are the picture of what a man should be. rest in peace evan, your voice will forever be heard

  • Evan Tanner, You are a great soul. I pray to the Divine to fill your soul with light, Amen. Peace up on your soul...

  • he was a brilliant man. R.I.P Evan Tanner, one of the UFC's greatest.

  • how did he die?

  • his bike broke down because of the heat in the Desert and he died from heat stroke walking back to his campsite. sucks.

  • R.I.P Evan Tanner

  • Big man, huge fighter, a hero.

We miss you man. Rest in peace.

  • this guy seemed really fuckin cool...the kind of person that i wish i could have met

  • A very wise man, i miss his blogs. I hope he is at peace wherever his light has gone.

  • rip dude

  • "You have to lose yourself to find yourself"

    Very true

  • What fun would youtube be if there were no comments to share with other people and you just simply watch vids? Evan, RIP.

  • This video gets me a little teary eyed whenever I watch it. Not only a great fighter but a person who knew what needs to be fixed in the world. And I am very pleased that UFC: Undisputed will feature Tanner on the roster

  • A true man

  • If you have't choked on a bag of dicks already, please be our guest. Tanner wasn't "ill prepared" at all. He just didn't know that the spring he was going to had dried up. It was reported early on that he ran out of gas, I don't think that ended up being true.
