Haa I monkey vaulted over a lunch table at my school. It was nothing but I clipped my foot on the seats on the other side. Landed in my right knee. Can't stand on it. As soon as I can I'm Gonna hit da parks and practice landing better. Damn u lunch table
i like to land like this, it make me feel comfortable, but i read that you souldnt bend your knees more than 90 degrees and now im confused :( please help me
actually the noise may only indicate that you are using more force. However this is not the case for every person because the shoes may be the ones causing the noise
i always roll when vaulting something with a drop thats like 2-3m high and always for jumps but when i vault something with a drop of higher than 3.5m i dont have enough forward momentum to go straight into a roll. should i do this landing technique or try to roll?
Land on your toes with your body angled slightly forward. The momentum of your body downwards against your toes as a fulcrum should push your body face-first into a roll.
isnt thatt what you use when the jump isnt high enough or your not going fast enough to roll? call me crazy but that just seems like a normal landing....
Yeah I know it seems obvious but then there are those people who are very idiotic and just try to land but end up landing flat footed and hurting their foot. Then there's also the people that land well but then they screw up when they try to start running again.
true but they should of just put normal landing or something lol not crazy landing that only good people should do you know. i just think they played it out to much but oh well its a good tutorial none the less :)
yea i know it is and i know u dont need good shoes but if ur doin things like wall climbing and things like that u need a grip and yea i know its a dangerous sport but i love doin it
no, this one is good for jumping off something a little higher than you but you cant really expect to do this jumping off of lets say 7 ft in the air (depending on your weight) this is just a better way for people who have trained pk for a while to do a landing
@ushdr Sorry to be a buzzkill, but bending your knees outward can significantly damage them over time and will shorten your parkour life. Your knees are hinge joints; they are designed to bend forward and back. Repetitive torquing to the side stresses the ligaments, and will eventually lead to pain and tearing. I know it's annoying, but if you want to keep doing parkour for years to come, discipline yourself to keep your legs strait under. It's an investment in your body - you only get one.
i have a question yesterday i made a long jump and roll and nothing hurt not even a little and ive been practicing parkour 1 month and i had no problems but when i did the long jump and roll, after an hour my back started hurting like shit i coudnt even walk properly............what should i do to prevent that kind of injuries ????
you should work up to it man, you cant go from a some what short jump to a long jump without letting medium get some action thats probably why you hurt yourself you may have thought you were ready when your body wasnt
lol been going to a free running class in fenton stoke on trent and i have learnt many landings but i think the best thing i learned is diving rolls when u get well farer and higher and ty for ur tuts
This landing would probably be much better if you have forward momentum. The other more basic landing is more suited to drops in which you are going straight down. Good tutorial though; just sharing my thoughts :)
the thing i have problems with is like i can run up a wall 3 steps, but its just the first one that makes me go high the second pushes me off and third doesnt really count because im just quickly kicking my leg in and it doesnt help me or effect me at all.
i can get pretty high with just one leg tho so im fine with it.
I bought kswiss ariake's they are $100 but are designed for freerunning/parkour and they work great for me. I believe this is also the type of shoe that Ozzi is wearing in the video.
Thanks for posting the video Ozzi, the way you were explaining it led me to try it and other than a few revisions, you explained it well enough for me to understand, good job =)
im wondering what kinda shoes i should wear for parkour, im pretty new, 12 years old, and max height of a wall i can climb is about 8-9ft wall but after my 2nd (or sometimes 1st) step, i slip a bit, so wat kind of shoes i should use. i use my adidas but they arent great lol
this comment is old but i thought i should post anyway i'm 13 and ive been practicing pk for about a month now and i heard a good shoe for parkour is the Nike Dart and it's only like $20-$40
Coolio im 13 too, i've been parkour training for about a year so it shows how hard parkour can really be and shoes arent the matter that much, im in london ontario tho so not too many parkour spots
yea i live in Massachusetts in a small town south of boston but i can get some good spots to try out but all i really mean by a good shoe is one with a grip
i live in blacktown and i am taking this up recently and it sucks cause in prospect there is pretty much nothing to parkour its absolute bullshit o well good luck all who r taking up parkour :D
I am expecting a lot of people saying the same. This is not much diff from what it is suppose to be. just a variation to adding more weight forward. Be happy you started the right way. 8)

i prefer to land quieter because apparently the more noise that you make upon impact, the damage you are causing on your body
timmyman2323 2 years ago
actually the noise may only indicate that you are using more force. However this is not the case for every person because the shoes may be the ones causing the noise
WhoaThatWasAwesome 2 years ago
You can make nearly no noise v.i.a bending your knees like crazy... Sure, you're making less noise, however, you're also destroying your knees...
ArrrPirate666 2 years ago
Hey, a friend of mine do this same land without making any sound oO...
I'm trying making no sound, but it's very hard =' (
I heard that the less sound it makes, the less impact you get...
allan2oo7 2 years ago
Yep. Sound is a vibration due to impact or energy... Therefore the less you have, the less impact.

I prefer leaning forwayd. then u'll get enough forward momentum to do a roll.
01ehaja 2 years ago
leaning forward as you vault or just before you land?
crzyguy2 2 years ago
its best if u do it when u vault

Land on your toes with your body angled slightly forward. The momentum of your body downwards against your toes as a fulcrum should push your body face-first into a roll.

You need rolling when you're going fast, this works best on medium drops. On high drops, I dunno, I'd maybe roll if I could. :D

You can create momentum using this even if you come straight down. That the idea of the leaning forward.
