Yeah they can, the trade they made gave them some cap space. Also they were in close deal for Amare at the trade deadline, by trading Battier,Scola and Cook's expire contract. For some reason it happened because of physical problem. And they traded T mac because he wanted out, he wanted more minutes but the team didn't wanted that because they were afraid of him getting injured again. They wanted to take it slow on him but he didn't wanted that, so he wanted to be traded so he got his wish......
No, they know how good Mcgrady is when he is healthy. So they wanted him to take it easy, coming from microfracture surgery is not easy to go to the court and play. So they wanted to take it easy on him to be full healthy. But T mac didn't wanted that he didn't wanted to play less minutes so he wanted to get traded. This is the beginning of a new era from the Knicks. I am not a Knick fan, but it's great for the league that the Knicks are gonna be good again. It won't happen this year, but next year when they get either Bosh or Wade (I don't think LeBron is going anywhere).
