  • Where do you get those steel plates?

  • IMO they want way to much money for this tree on their website.

  • I'm thinking of buying one of the these, but before I make the purchase I would like to know if you could shoot fmj at it since in swings and has a lesser chance of richocet. I am not very knowledgeable about frangible ammo or how much more expensive or available to obtain. thanks

  • I know the target has some weight to it, but was wondering how portable this thing is. Looks as if the targets could come off and then lift the stand into a truck bed. I want one but don't have a sweet gun range to keep it at. Thanks for your time.

  • may be when there is fire in the burn barrel yall could sort of punch the fire if u no what i mean lol

  • how much do those go for

  • whew..i feelo less stressed after watching this.. nice

  • Im going to start saving for one right now!

  • now all you need is for it to walk back and forth

  • also I've noticed that most of your targets you've just bought the metal target itself and hung it up on something instead of spending the outrageous money for the whole piece of equipment. Nice going! Just wanted to say great shooting range!

  • doesn't this model require a rifle to shoot it at 100 yards though?

  • Wonder about getting hit by riccochets.

  • @boochieboy If you plan on making your own target, be sure to use the correct steel. If the plates get dinged up, ricochets with become unpredictable.

  • I want to make some 3/8" thick steel targets for practice with my 9mm and .380 pistols, but I'm afraid of ricochets. What is a reasonable minimum distance to be away while shooting at steel plate?

  • I bought one of these and love it. the only "problem" is that my friends and I go through LOTS more ammo due to the fun factor.

    Thanks for the vid.

  • Hey Hickok, Have you ever had problems with a GLOCKs accuracy right out of the box? I just bought a GLOCK 17 and up to about 15 ft it is accurate but after that they seem to be all over the place. Any suggestions?

  • @noadmiration Are you finished with your tantrum? No, you didn't provide a name. The name "Woodcock" is not the designer of the Detonics pistol. I'm also guessing whatever name you gave wouldn't appear on the BUDS list either.

Thank you for your suggestion. When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you.

You're not the first person to say "I know a Navy SEAL", to give yourself credibility. And you won't be the last.

No need to further clutter the comments. This conversation is over.

  • Hi hickok45,

How far are you from the duelling tree? 10 yards is the minimum distance for steel targets - as I've read. If the steel is 'light' similar to those round ones on your target table, meaning they move when hit can I go closer than 10 yards?

    Thanks!

  • @weez82 I just wanted to say I'm sorry for coming off like a jerk to you first off. Also the order I tried to place with Action Target did have the outrageous shipping I mentioned. I did take your advice however and went to Brownells site and you were right about their shipping,I ordered the paper Target stand I was looking at as well as a large IPSC target w/stand in AR500 steel and the shipping for them both was $11. So I must thank you as I wasn't aware of Brownells until you mentioned them.

  • 139.00 bucks!!!!

  • Unlimited targets, someone should hook up a generator to that and you can power your house.

    Great video as always,

  • You shoot the 10mm like it was a 9mm!

  • @rogermcgee1 Notice the size of his wrists. That's for sure he has strong arms.

  • couldnt the tree ricochet or something like that since the bullets dont go through it?

  • Dude, Go on Topshot... You have a great chance of winning..

  • Interesting, will it stand if used a heavier fire arm?

  • @usptact it depends .45 maybe but something like a .44 or .500 S&W would probably knock it down.

  • Greg I've had several comments on my dueling tree video, the one where old man gives his young son a but whoopin saying mine is left side bias....LOL. Though you would get a kick out of this. Thanks my friend....have a great weekend.

  • is like Nico from GTA, everytime when he empties a magazine he laughes and left funny remarks.

  • Aren't you afraid of recoil? Serious question

  • I love Action Targets Target trees. And you my friend are a great shooter.

  • how many guns do you own?

  • Such a simple concept, yet so genius in design.

  • I'm sure you get FAR to many opinions on you vids... Buuuuuuuut, it may be worthwhile to move the DT to the left a bit and throwing together a quick little roof for it. That way, you can grease her up and she'll stay greased up. May help prevent rusting a small amount as well...but you are quite vigilant with your spray cans ;)

"another armchair opinion brought to you by YouTube .......... We'll be back after these messages"

  • I have a 380 Sig and I love it. I don't think it would have enough power to push one of those plates back.

  • @raghedpedo swedish gay lover .please dont cry..U MORON.!!!!!

I tell you something..maybe your forgot.( not supprised me if U idiot)

  • How in the hell does he pay for all that ammo! That gets expensive after a while!

  • I definitely have to get one of those trees!

  • vary cool looks fun.. like to see u duel john

  • Saw your pop up ad for Amsoil. Great stuff. I've been a dealer for 6 years, and the Amsoil Metal Protector is good on guns! I need one of those trees! My wife thinks she's a better shooter, this tree will prove it I suppose.

  • Hey Hickok! Any recommendations for spray paint for shooting targets? I'm using stuff that flakes off pretty easily. Got any tips? Thanks!

    ~ WHP

  • @windyhillpatriot , Well, John and I could do a video review of spray paint - that's for sure. Mine doesn't get much chance to "flake" off; somebody keeps hitting it with bullets often enough that it gets no chance to flake off. :-) The first thought is to buy the cheapest cans of spray paint for this sort of thing, but it's like tires; you get what you pay for. I advise you to buy quality spray paint, and it will cover much better and possibly not flake off. Ends up being cheaper.

  • @hickok45 why did you paint the back side red, why not paint all lefts sides red? so when your actually dueling that you can tell which is yours, unless your going by color not side

  • @windyhillpatriot Use primer instead of paint and don't apply it over oil/grease. You are going to have some flaking simply because you are spraying over lead fragments. It ain't the Mona Lisa man.

  • man, thats cool

  • BLAAAAAH!!! Browning Hi Power!!

  • Hey Hickok, I've noticed that your targets are always clean before each video. Do you wash them or does the rain do it for you?

  • The bullet riddled burning barrel gives this one a nice post apocalyptic feel.

  • TENNESSEE TITANS!!!!!! Im california but love the titans!

  • You and BigJohn or TNOutdoors9 should make it a game and see who can keep the disks on the other person's side. That would make a great video.

  • @gungadin777 WOW That is the best suggestion for a shooting game I have ever heard. SASS should make that into a Cowboy Action "duelist" event. Two shooters, each with a standard single action revolver, and a dueling tree like this one. The person who can move all the branches to his opponent's side of the tree wins the title "Fastest Gun of the West" :)

  • @gungadin777 That's actually what dueling trees are for.

  • how big is your property line becuase im looking downrange and man it impressive

  • Cool! Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work!!!

  • Maybe you and your son could have a contest with that.

  • I live in NC

  • Great close up of the tree. It is actually larger than I thought it would be and it seems to be very well constructed. Very nice addition to your range.

  • ITS TIME TO DUEL!

  • wow only 5 social paths

  • @mmdghr sociopaths

  • @GoldenRing1989 Depends upon the Bullet and the velocity. Not all bullets are created equal. You have soft points such as lead tipped, hallow point, etc which hit and mushroom back and fragment quite easily and if they hit metal they basically just hit it and fragment; these would be used for metal and hunting. If it's ball amunition or Armor piercing chances are it will go straight through the metal while substaining some deformation.

  • What is your most powerful gun you ever shoot?

  • 3:00 you can put it at 230 yards and shoot it with a rifle

  • @JgamesandreviewsPS3 You can always get the rimfire tree, and from what others are saying, you can still use most centerfire pistol rounds on it. I have the rimefire tree and it is amazing. Light weight and easy to transport.

  • @GoldenRing1989 You might want to include some info on how good you are at reloading.

  • Thanks for the nice close ups of the tree. I have been looking for a new "bad weather project". I have already built my own poppers and plate rack. A dueling tree, a "polish plate rack" and a "texas star" are all on my to do list for steel targets. The dueling tree is a bit simpler from a build standpoint so it may come first. As always, great video! Life IS good ;-)

  • thanks for doing more 10mm videos!

  • New toy at the range, now we just need to see you & another shooter make a game out it. Thanks for sharing

  • Yea I think you're supposed to shoot at it from all red to all black going back and forth... when you're by yourself... that way it stays a tree

  • shoot it with a slug.

  • You should make a video with some tannerite

  • LOve it

  • Ballistol works on everything. If you gets stabbed or shot just spray a little on the wound and you are good for a few hours till you get medical attention ;)

  • Forgive my ignorance, but is ricochet a potential safety issue with this?

  • @Thewestcoastshooter No, because the target has give, the bullet will continue right through (not the metal, but the bullet will force the target back and go right past).

  • @TH3CHiLLZ Understood, thanks dude.

  • Nice!

  • Now that you have the dueling tree- it would be very cool to see you "duel" someone!

  • thumbs up if you think hickok should be in the next season of top shot!

  • Hey Hickok! Would that tree work better if you staked down the legs?

  • @rjake61 , We're going to do that once we're sure the base is going to stay level and that we're not going to be moving it around.

  • that can of ballistol looks like a can of soda in hickoks hand

  • I wish more guns came in 10mm

  • Hey hickok45, that's a beautiful Browning Hi Power you've got there. =D

  • i have a question. what would you say your favorite gun is, make, model, and caliber?

  • @Williamthekid76 .... the only difference between a .40 SW and a 10mm is the length of the case. same way as a 38 Special and a 357 Mag. same bullet and all just more powder in a 10mm.

  • I use 0W-20 synthetic motor oil for my AR actions and it works great with action targets. plus its a hell of a lot cheaper then using other gun oils. makes cleaning my ar's quick and easy too. Give it a shot. works great for a heck of a lot of stuff.

  • Awsome.

  • 5* for this dueling tree

  • Mobile 1 Synthetic.. $7.00 works on everything from trees to 1911's to M1a's.. 1 tub lasts

    forever.

  • That was a Hi-Power! When are we getting that video, Hickok? :D

  • nutnfancy has been using these targets a lot... i really want one but the sportsman's club i joined isnt allowing them atm.... hoping to change their mind eventually ;)

i'd like to see what it'll look like after you put some 223's threw it

  • Yes! Hickok45 has a Browning Hi-Power 9mm. Show the younger folks what a classic design can do Hickok style.

  • Hey I see your burning trash there. I used to love burning trash at my uncle's country house.

  • Greg vs. John on the dual tree!!!

  • I was wondering if that was a Hi-Power as well.

  • what 9mm pistol was that browning high power?

  • with earbuds in it sounds like you're my conscience lol

  • Hickock45 vs John on the dueling tree

that would be sweet, love the vids by the way keep doin what your doin

  • Browning Hi Power!!!!

  • If you use a rifle on it put it in the back with the gong to makes it challenging.

  • Nice! Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • Browning Hi-Power 9mm?

  • too bad they dont make a moving zombie target.

  • i think he was having wayyy to much fun ;)

  • I think they(Action Target) makes a dueling tree made specifically for rimfire, just in case anyone wants one.

  • They make good products that a lot of people use but for someone like me, their prices are still on the steep side.

  • Ok, lets see it. Father and son dueling tree contest. Come on John you can do it!! ;-)

  • any one know if the action targets steal plates are made to take FMJ rounds or would i just mess up my target shooting um?? would like to know soon cus i really want to start shooting steal.

  • Must be somethin' in the air! I just took my G20 out this mornin and shot up a box after getting my frame back from having the Gen III back strap hump and finger grooves removed. Best thing I could have done. Now I can actually dictate where my bullets go! Amazing what a difference being able to wrap your hand around the grip can do for your control.Even my big hands were no match for that 2x4 like grip!

  • Man Hickok is everything Mr rodgers should have been. A Perfect gentleman plus gun education for the kids.

  • was that a browning hi power?

  • @vtguy429 nutn would highly disappointed with the lack of scissors on the dueling tree too.

  • @fiveseven76 And the fact that another brand has one that weighs 2 ounces less. What a shame.

  • Bet those tree-huggers aren't happy with you at the moment!

  • @vtguy429 Good point. haha

  • Very cool!

  • nutnfancy vs. Hickock45 on the dueling tree "11"

  • shortest vid in months

  • can you do a video some day with a rocket launcher, but not on your tree because I love it and I don't want her to get hurt.. :)

  • jesus ol man, never seen any body tear up the tree like that!

  • One handed with a 10mm... is the Glock 20 just that soft shooting? Are they reduced loads? Or are you just that good?

  • @noadmiration I've never shot a 20 but I'd say he's just that good.

  • @noadmiration a 10mm recoils similar to a .45 ACP, maybe a little bit snappier but not bad at all, easy to one hand it.

  • @noadmiration , Full loads, but I'm shooting with both hands.

  • @hickok45 Ah I see, the camera angle hid your support hand.

But Hickok, I thought every single Glock that wasn't a 9mm exploded? This guy on the internet who said he was a Navy SEAL cross trained with LAAPs and Delta Force said that all Glock go Kaboom after one magazine.

  • @noadmiration , Yeah, I would imagine there are quite a few "Navy Seals" bragging around on Internet forums, at last until their mom's shut off their Internet connection for not doing their homework or being late for school. :-)

  • @hickok45 LOL, I think you are familiar with Gunkid, aka John Melvin Davis, right? He was the gun forum uber-troll back in 2000 and 2001 until he got arrested for felony theft. On GlockTalk, the moderators even gave him his own sub-forum and it was hilarious. He bragged about being specops or some other shadowy secret spy agency from time to time, and how he carried out missions with just a .22 LR upper on a AR-15 or something like that.

  • @noadmiration Contact buds131 to check if their really Navy SEALs.

  • @GMGvanS I was be facetious... but yeah I've called a few guys out by checking the BUDs records. I have a friend who was a little more than a Navy SEAL who showed me how to check.

Of course they just claim they are so secret squirrel that their identity had to be protected by removing them from the graduate list.

For the record, I was never a SEAL, LAAP, MEU, SOFTACP, Ranger, Delta, CIA, OSS, LMNOP... I realize that makes me unique on the internet gun forums.

But I still want an M20.

  • @noadmiration Exactly how is it that you are able to get access to the BUDS database?

  • @ffryan I can't. I know a guy I can ask if I think it's worth bothering him about. All he'll say is yes or no.

Honestly I've not bothered him with it in a few years. He's old now and doesn't care to be bothered.

He is what he says he is.

I refuse to name drop because that would be impolite.

All I'll say is that he tells stories about his ungentlemanly behavior in Burma around 1944.

  • @noadmiration Ok, so you don't have access to it. A friend of yours does. Pm me his name and I'll verify with Don Shipley. If your friend is who he claims to be then he won't have a problem with that.

  • @ffryan Your settings wont let me PM you. His name isn't hard to find. He designed the original Detonics pistol. I wonder if Hickok ever tried one those little beauties.

I met him during my martial arts phase and spent a few years training with him before I found out who he was.

  • @noadmiration Pat Yates?

  • @ffryan No Mr. Woodcock.

  • @ffryan I don't want to misinterpret your intentions, but you seemed very assertive in asking for a name to qualify, without first qualifying yourself. After I provided a name, which you presumably verified, it would have been nice to have some sort of follow up or acknowledgement.

With respect to the limited effectiveness of text communications, your lack of response after such insistence could seem to some as being a bit trollish.

  • @noadmiration Because I have no interest in dicking back and forth playing these little games trying to get you to answer a simple question about who this alleged SEAL is that you are talking about. Youtube is full of people who claim to have relatives friends or associates who are SEALS. Yet most of these people will not provide names to verify it. I'm just going to conclude that it is a bullshit claim and not waste anymore of my time.

  • @ffryan I see by your undisciplined and ungentlemanly response that you are wanna be name dropper who embodies everything you rail against.

I told you his name, and if you knew anything about the history of covert operations, you would have a lot of respect for it.

I'd suggest you stop badgering people about who they know and go back to your duties as unofficial supplement mall security.

As it stands you run the risk of disrespecting very the people you claim to be defending.

  • @hickok45 Ah I see, the camera angle hid your support hand.

But Hickok, I thought every single Glock that wasn't a 9mm exploded? This guy on the internet who said he was a Navy SEAL cross trained with LAAPs and Delta Force said that all Glocks go Kaboom after one magazine.

  • @noadmiration He may be firing two handed, however, he's still just that good. I shoot with my Sig P229 in .40 in a mini version of what he has set up, and he'll out-shoot me any day. I'm guessing even with a firearm he's never fired. I shoot well enough to qualify though :)

  • That looks like it would be just as fun with an M1 Garand at 60 or so yards.

  • Thats pretty cool

  • That 9mm was a Browning Hi Power was'nt it ?

  • Hey Hickock, could you recommend a 9mm pistol around $400?

  • @splosionsRfun

    Glock.

  • @Agendaman2 Could you be more specific?

  • @splosionsRfun

Well, Glocks are down right amazing pistols. They're reliable, they're in all sizes and calibers... I would never trust my life with anything but a Glock. There's models from 17 to 50. Head down to your local gun store and check 'em out!

  • Watering that tree can get expensive lol.

  • Nice new toy Hickok, I have two of these myself, one for rimfires, one for centerfires. You can get some pretty fun games going with friends on them. I also see that we're going to get a Browning Hi Power video soon, can't wait!

  • in the begining that was like a call of duty reload lol super fast

  • A new toy for hickok45. Looks realy funn:-)

  • I would be seriously interested in knowing how much money you have gotten people to spend on firearms, ammo, and targets hickok.

Nothing wrong with giving a good product like this seemingly excellent dueling tree some exposure!

  • That looks like a lot of fun; I'm in the Chicagoland area and don't think any of the ranges around here have these. I hate shooting paper; very boring.

  • what was that 9mm? I need glasses lol

  • Comment removed

  • Every time Hickok chuckles, an angel gets its wings. :)

  • @amtrak207 oooh, thats sweet! AND GAY

  • @amtrak207 nice...lol

  • Okaaay....I've come to the conclusion that watching your channel will be hard on my children's college fund!! Me want one!!! lol :-)

  • @sailorm591 It is trust me, I am a few grand lighter now after watching his channel.....he just has too many cool toys that I have to have some too. :):)

  • Its also nice to be brandon 401401....

  • It must be nice to be you!
