  • Жги!! убивай!! БУГАГА

    XD

  • i am Wiccan and feel VERY insulted!!!!

  • @SalemsCurse

Well if you are Wiccan you should know that a Witch and a Wiccan isn't the same thing... Besides in Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia this is a much older tradition than Christmas (or any other tradition I can think of). It originates from when the Solstice was celebrated by the pagans with fire.. The witch is a new addition from the 1860s when a lot of German people came to Denmark to work and decided to try and scare the witches with the witch dolls on the fire..

  • Cosmo's a rather interesting name...

  • "Is she catching on fire?" xD I wanna do this if I'm dumb enough to have a kid xD

  • Somewhere, a Wiccan is screaming. XD

  • best thing is the police cars sounding in the background xD

  • Burn the witch!

  • heheheh...she said 'wood.'

  • heck yeah coming from the "burn the witch" comic on scandinavia and the world site

  • Um, kinda sick.

  • @Jcolinsol Why? o.O

  • @Ghost4420

Well, making a woman in effigy and burning her? I imagine that could leave some strange imprints in a child's psychology.

  • @Jcolinsol It's pretty common where we come from, and no one been hurt by it x3

  • @Ghost4420

Aye I know, though it's hard to gauge when it comes to psychology, traumas tend to manifest themselves in indirect ways.

  • @Jcolinsol True true, the psyche is an very complex thing :3

But really, theres never been any incidents or or reports of violent or other abnormal behavior linked to Sankt Hans here in DK.

But it dosen't seem just as focused on the burning of the witch here in DK when we do it, because it's usually linked to a party where it more about the food, songs and sometimes firework that accompanies the lightning of the pyre, then the actual burning of the witch :)

  • @Jcolinsol Well, in Denmark & Norway we do this every year, and our children watch and love it.. and Denmark is one of the countries in the world with the lowest crime rate, especially from insane people... sooh, I think the effects are pretty harmless ;)

  • Yay! It was cute! just like Humon said it was!!!

    :D

  • Am I the only person who heard the firetruck sirens at the end? xD

  • humon sent me =D

  • the witch is supose to be in scale 1:1 (: not jokeing

    Burn the witch!

    Monty python.

  • Nothing says something like burning witches!

  • the kids are so cute~!

  • aww, look at how cute the witch burning is~

  • XD I have to say I find this tradition rather barbaric and archaic.

To each their own, but I prefer fireless traditions.

  • @limalicious

    Stfu.

  • @MisterBreezer

What a brilliant, scintillating, INTELLIGENT reply.

  • @limalicious

Cheers bro, i put alot of time and effort into it. Y'know, it's people like you who inspire me, and for that i thank you, without you, none of this could of happened.

  • @MisterBreezer

So, it's a good idea to continue traditions that obviously imitate the senseless slaughter of thousands of people throughout the years? Let's see if you liked it if you were burned at the stake and then people burned an effigy of you every year to celebrate your murder.

  • @limalicious

I'm pretty sure burning paper witches won't change the past, so if it's tradition to do such a thing, is it not better to remember that bad things happened and understand why they were wrong to prevent them from happening again?

And at the end of the day - i don't give a shit what it represented - it obviously now represents people coming together to have fun. So chill.

  • @limalicious Whine more please. Not like you guys don't celibrate the slaughter of the rightfull owners of the land you're living on. If you really want to get you're panties in a twist look op "Sinterklaas en zwarte piet".

  • Go go danes!

    SKÅL I SKURET!

  • Thanks for all your comments! Almost 8.000 views are a lot - especially for a three-year old (actually, I'm almost four). And yes, I'm half danish so I'm by definition not political correct. Which one of my other videos do you find the most political incorrect? How about the one with the gas mask? Thanks again! -Cosmo

  • So the guy talking is both Danish and American?

  • D'aww! Some might find it unsettling, but I thought the kid at 0:25 to 0:31 was adorable.

  • Damn!

    That's some Danes for ya?

  • hum.... no....

and even shooting Indians and burning books are quite dissimilar.

but it's kinda politically incorrect,... :D

  • Nah, I wouldn't say politically incorrect. Though I have travelled I have never bumped into a witch and I think that doesn't potray witchdoctors.

Just making a fun moment about something that has been really done some time ago, including torturing people and shit.

I'm not a humourless person, I just find this particular way of celebrating something a bit fucked up.

Or maybe I am humourless, only trolls know the best.

  • Well... You got a point, but since when have danes been politically correct. Take the Mohammed Drawings for instance.

Btw. im a dane too, and somewhat proud of it

  • @tanztante Call it a tradition, people ^^ They do something similar in Poland, they just drown a doll in the spring instead.

  • We don't put ''witches'' on our fires, but Norway is known for makin huge fires on sankt hans :P

  • haha that's true xD Every year it's a competition - which "part" of my city makes the greatest fire 8'D

It's, like, the one day we can be arsonists with great pleasure, so we don't really hold back anything xD

  • So vikernes just got the date wrong? =D

  • @steffieiih We DO put witches in our fires.

  • @steffieiih We do the same thing?

  • @steffieiih Actually we do. Atleast where I grew up.Huge ass fire with a fullsize wittch on a pole on the top of the fire.

  • @steffieiih in sweden we don't even put our poles on fire.

personally I think honoring witches burning is awfull! But I guess the danes have their own reasons...

  • Sankt hans er for niiiiice :D

  • So cute, I love kids :)

And way to stick with some old traditions, more people should be doing that around here ^^

Can't wait to go to Northern Europe and see this my self!

  • I AM GHOST RIDER! XD Kids say the darnest things :D

  • Cosmo is one of the cutest kids I've ever seen. ^_^

    Happy Sankt Hans Aften!
