Only problem is loss of accent, surely you don't get the same feel viewing and hearing italian american (new york) charatcers in a film such as Godfather speaking french?

Yet there accent is amazing for gaining a REAL feel for the location and character.

When i view french cinema, i want to hear the words + pronounciation, accents. To understand i can just read the words at the bottom.

Look, it's not easy for everybody to learn english. And actually, this is the french part, we have a french canadian traduction of Jim Carrey and honestly I find it better in frenhc. It depends, Will Ferrel is funnier in english. Anyway traduction are there for something and when I look a Spanish movie, i'm happy that it's translate.

It's funny, yesterday we had this debate in a bar! Ok, All these movie, Ace Ventura, Classic of De Niro, Godfather I seen all of these in french, so I grow up with their french voices. When I was young i could'nt understand english, now I can but it's not perfect so I miss a couple of things in a movie. So it's hard for me to just switch of language, for me Robert De Niro talk in french and say «Putain» instead of «Fuck». It's good arguing, but it's like that lol.

And you know the industry of dubblage progress a lot. Back at the 60%, the traduction wasnt very good, but now it's pretty accurate. The people who done that are actor, they are able to translate the emotion in the movie. You can take it like theater, A piece of Shakespeare these day, it's not the original actor but can do a good job!

Anyway I completely understand your point, If I was english speaking, i'll do the same thing, but I grew up with french so it's hard for me. And we try yo preserve our language here in Quebec. 6 millions of french speking surrounded by 350 millions of english speaking!
