  • Damn she's gorgeous! And she speaks Afrikaans!:)

  • she is a sweetheart

  • AH, afrikaans in an american accent!

  • im glad i still remember how to speak afrikaans haha

  • I speak Norwegian and I understood what she said. It's weird because the tone is like that of the Swedish hehe

  • Hoe lyk hierdie rok op my in dutch: Hoe staat my deze rok!

Dutch people can understand afrikaans, those two languages are very similair

  • @dan1979geboren 1) hey dan!it's so interesting to see how diefferent but also similar languages can be.like dutch, german and afrikaans for example are similar to each other, well, dutch and afrikaans more than german and those two,but as a german i can understand really much of dutch and afrikaans.i don't know if you know the word "plattdütsch"?it's a little like dutch, but a german dialect.have a friend in southafrica and her parents just can speak afrikaans, so i am not able to talk to them...

  • @dan1979geboren 2)...in english, cause they wouldn't understand one thing.so one day,i called my friend there and her mum picked up the phone and she neather doesn't understand english, nor german,so i tried to talk to her in "plattdütsch" a little and for my big surprise, she understood what i said, really. i love different languages and find it so interesting.greetings from germany.

  • haha I'm from Belgium so I could understand every single word she said in Afrikaans. So weird :D

  • i could just keep listening to her for daaaay! gorgeous woman

  • i would so like to get drunk witch Charlize, she's so amazing :)

  • I am in love with Charlize Theron. Pls. marry me!!!

  • If your wondering what Charlize said, "What does this dress look like on me, Does it look good?but why don't you wear dresses? You have pants on today.

So how are you today"? Ellen:"Yes".

  • I'm from Belgium and I understand everything she says in Afrikaans.

But like someone said before, Flemish is closer to Afrikaans then Dutch is.

  • That was funnier than part one.

  • they are funny....love them both very much :-)

Thanks for uploading this nice video:-)

  • that really isn't a chicken sound, charlize.... hahaha

  • "Hoe lyk hierdie rok op my."

  • belgium is acctually closer to afrikaans than dutch.

  • @MrDeyzel Belgian is acctually French or Flandrisch and Flandrisch ist Dutch :D so ... My favourite word in Belgium was uitgezonderd :D, but its very funny how the stupid Americans find it funny.

    No offence to Americans

  • @MrDeyzel WRONG. In Belgium we have 3 official languages: Dutch (Flemish), French and German. There's no such thing as 'Belgian'. Our Dutch is practically the same as the one they use in the Netherlands.

+ I would totally tap Charlize Theron

  • ohh i miss South Africa ...yes ...Ek hou van afrikaans !!

  • holy shit that was a good goat impression!

  • Yes, it;s true that its known as kitchen dutch.!!!

  • #:40 till the end had me in tears with laughter....LOL

  • hahahaha mmmmoooooo! :) Charlize is 100% beauty and brains

  • Comment removed

  • @AnneLien1987: African isn't a language. You should really educate yourself.

  • charlize has a DELICIOUS laugh, you can't hear it and not laught with her.

  • nop

  • She's so lovely.

  • Does she speak afrikaans?????

  • @WillfredJM Jap. Although her grammer isnt what it should be:)

  • @Ewekansig Nor is mine any longer and i am basically a boer!

  • I love it when Charlize does the wallrus every time she laughs. Other people would look dumb lol

  • i'm in love!

  • she is cool and funy at the same time.

  • i feel like i learned so much from this interview. hahahahha just kidding i stopped breathing cause i was laughing so hard

  • She has a full American accent now.

  • @thrasher778 when she talk in afrikaans?

  • @dado724 No when she speaks Afrikaans it sounds like a South African. But her Enlgish speaking doesn't sound South African at all.

  • @thrasher778 oh, now I understand :D

  • Hahaha, Ellen and Charlize are both so funny!

    I laughed my ass off.

When I need a laugh, i'll just watch this video!

    A big 10!

  • hahahahh; "you actually became the cow."

  • This is sooo funny!

  • afrikaans is similar to dutch, am I right?

  • @TissieBacke94 true, I'm duch and I can understand everything she said. Some words are different because of the other influences, but most of it sounds practically the same :)

  • @TissieBacke94 Yes, people from the Netherlands move out to South Africa about 300 years ago

  • @TissieBacke94 Yes you are, because the dutch colonized South Africa or atleast the majority of it.

  • @TissieBacke94 Yes, Afrikaans is a West Germanic language, spoken natively in South Africa and Namibia. It is a daughter language of Dutch, originating in its 17th century dialects, collectively referred to as Cape Dutch. - Wikipedia. I totally understand everything. Cos I'm from Belgium and we talk dutch here too :D

  • @NJMoviemaker thank you for your concrete answer, neighbor :D (cos I'm from Germany) ;)

  • @TissieBacke94 Hey, I'm Dutch and yes it is very similar ;-)

  • @TissieBacke94 yes its similar

i'm from belgium and i understand almost everything what they say

  • @TissieBacke94 Yes it is.

  • @TissieBacke94 yes you're right. Cause the white people in South Africa come from english but mostly from Holland (so they hereby speak Dutch, or I should say Afrikaan, which is derivating from dutch).

  • @TissieBacke94 yes but most similar to flemish (belgian area) with bits of german, native african, malaysian, french, german and english

  • dnt kwn abt that

    but she does sound ducth

  • @ambylious that's because afrikaans is based on dutch and english :)

  • @TissieBacke94 yes, it's very similar to dutch, but i think not exactly similar.

  • @coopi1481 @TissieBacke94 well the Dutch they speak is 17th century Dutch. This is because parts of South Africa were a colony back then.

I can understand most of what she´s saying when she talks afrikaans. I´m from The Netherlands by the way.

  • @MrPrevo1984 well, then it's like german and the old german dialect called "plattdeutsch" or "niederdeutsch". there is no translation for that in english. well, it's like dutch and the "17th century dutch" you are talking about :-) .it's pretty interesting to learn all that about languages. before i had the southafrican friend (name: alta) i didn't know anything about these issues. greetings again from germany.

  • @coopi1481 Low German ((Plattdüütsch, Nedderdüütsch; Standard German: Plattdeutsch or Niederdeutsch; Dutch: Nedersaksisch, Dietch) is an Ingvaeonic West Germanic language spoken mainly in northern Germany and the eastern part of the Netherlands. <wikipedia.

Present day we speak a more advanced form of the language. But in the Dutch Golden Ages (17th century) it was the most used language. One of the reasons why German and Dutch present day got lots of similarities.

  • @MrPrevo1984 hi! thanks for explanation! and once again i learned much more about that! wel bedankt!

  • Comment removed

  • @TissieBacke94 why....

  • Im dutch and what she says to Ellen is: "But why don't you wear dresses? like you wear those pants today."

  • Ek is bly Charlize praat nog so mooi Afrikaans. :)

  • how can anyone not love her? its like filling an AA meeting center with rum and telling the alcoholics not to drink...its impossible.

  • By far the most beautiful and sexy woman alive today.

  • shes amazing woman,,,shes one of a kind,i admire her...i like the she laugh!take care charlize

  • @napoleon501ste you clearly have no idea about what your talking about considering you think Brazilian is a language. They speak portugese in brazil.

  • Hahahahahaha I can't stop laughing.... She's so lovely!

  • She always seems so earnest and shy. So its very funny to see her like this.

  • its not "hoe lyk hierdie rok op my" its "hoe lyk hierdie rok aan my"

    lol

  • @kkkklDeWeYlkkk Ja, I also noticed that!

  • Heeheehee! I love being Afrikaans!

  • google really screwed up youtube

  • "All your African friends"....Ellen probably thought that Charlize was speaking an African language, not even taking into account that Afrikaans is just a form of Dutch. Americans are without a clue.

  • @robertogan

Dude, Afrikaans is quite far removed from Dutch. Granted, it originated from it, but it is a South African language and Dutch people often can't understand it.

  • @SibellaLouw I have no problem understanding it and I am dutch.

  • @Napoleon501ste Oh, that's cool then, but I've spoken to other Dutch people who can't. I guess it depends. But I mean it has become a South African language rather than a European one.

  • @SibellaLouw It is spoken in south africa, so it is a south african language, just like brazilian is a south amican language but they both come from european languages and they are still very simular. BTW, there is a video of chalise beeing interviewed in dutch and responding in south african. They have no problem understanding each other. of course there are some things that I don't understand when they talk to fast but that also goes for some local european dutch dialects.

  • @Napoleon501ste wich is the video that u talk about??

  • @Sakuragioart it is titled "Charlize Theron - Belgian interview (Afrikaans) "

    watch?v=2fYB9s0Nyzk

  • @Napoleon501ste thank you so much.. :)

  • @Napoleon501ste OK, wtf, I really don't care. But it's Afrikaans, not South African. South African is not a language.

  • @SibellaLouw I know, my mistake.

  • its weird to hear her speak such a language.

  • wow love her

  • hahahaha! oh charlize is adorable :D and I love how opemminded Ellen is!

  • hahahaha! oh charlize is adorable :D and I love how opemminded Ellen is!

  • XDD Bok! Goeie een!

  • Sy baie het mevrou gegoed!!

  • afrikaans sounds just like little dutch children who are beginning to speak, so funny :D

  • @EmilysStar Lol!! That's how swahili sounds to the south african language sotho!

  • sja!!!!! Afrikaans ROCK!

  • Afrikaans is die tweede mees gesproke taal in Suid-Afrika. Hoewel baie soortgelyk aan nederlands. . Go girl! Ons is baie trots op julle! . . . Nou begin leer dit aan Amerikaners

  • @lesskivvy

  • hahaha i'm dutch and i understood every word but she does sound like a farmer

hoe lijk je die rok op mij? lol

  • @mercedes1988

weird, cuz i only i understood ellen when she answered back

  • Lol! She took Ellen for a pawpaw.

  • Learn how to say 'how are you?' in dutch and afrikaans.

(Afrikaans derives from 17th century dutch, so it sounds a lot alike. In general Dutch and South Africans can understand each other quite well.)

  • its dutch but the way the farmers speak it

  • It's actually a language on its own, I does have similarities with Dutch, but with alot of other languages as well, including Zulu, Tswana, English and many others. It's basically Dutch-based and then it got so influenced by other languages that it is now another language alltogether. O and FYI I live in South Africa and Afrikaans is my primary language

  • @entertainruub kitchen Dutch

  • it sounds like some Petwa jamacain acsent

  • That sounded a LOT like dutch! =D

  • I've always wanted to learn more than one language so I think, other then German I'll learn Afrikaans because it sounds so cool.

  • baie lekker video! danks!

if you want i can help you.

  • haar afrikaans is goed!

  • Comment removed

  • @Anthony0044 Jy is beter as meeste ;)

  • @Anthony0044 It looks good to me. *Thumb up*

  • the interview is so Hilarious

    i love Charlize Theron <3 <3 <3

  • I've noticed that a lot of people in America do that wen they hear a language they do not understand....(chinese = ching chang chong!) i dont think she meant anything by it though

  • haha cinng chang chong is what I use to say to my chineese friend and I turn out to be the stupid one who just said a load of rubbish. But its funny the way ellen speaks it.

  • very funny!!!

i thought south africans speak English @@

  • South Africa has 11 languages

  • Actually, it has much more. But it has 11 official languages :)

  • yeah I know I live there(or here I guess)... there's also alot of language mixing, especially afrikaans-english

  • They do, they also speak Afrikaans and they usually learn an African language at school. Many countries have more than one national language.

  • thanks alot for the explanation :)

  • They do, because there are so many languages they use English so they can communicate with someone who speaks a different language so they dont have to learn them all.

  • lol thats funny. hallo in afrikaans...rofl!

  • *afrikaans

  • The moderator apparently is a little racist. Imitating afrikanns with kind of monkey sounds.

  • Nah she's not racist. She's just having a bit of fun.

  • the south afrikan is dutch with an weird TWIST in it :P:P so i understand her quite good:P:P:P

  • Ya that's because Afrikaans (that's what the language is called) comes from Dutch. Remember South Africa was discovered by the Dutch (Jan Van Reibeck). My Mum speaks Afrikaans and she understands alot of Dutch and a bit of German to because of her Afrikaans.

  • LOL, thats nice, thanks for the xtra information:),

    good luck!

  • discovered by the Dutch? What were the indigenous Africans, scenery?

  • wrong word, I mean settled, the first European settlers were Dutch.

  • LMFAO!!!!! Charlize Theron is AMAZING! I love her!!!!!

  • england is a mix of Latin, since the Romans pushed the Kelts further away to Scotland, than came the Germanics and they really fast converted to the roman ways and many words of language, same like in France, but there the Franks changed almost 100% in language, so English is a mix of Latin and Germanic(if you want to say that in modern terms its Italien, Dutch and Danish

  • She is the perfect woman.

She is not only incredibly gorgeous, and she has a great personality and humor.

  • thats right all these language have the same source not derived !! its like russian, polish ,czeska ..there are more language in the world than english .english is a mix from french, latin an old german ....by the way england is a island ..o.k.
