  • is this still there right now today!?

i would hope someone would step in and at least try to pererve this but as often the case thsees things are torn down and then it is realized way to late what is lost the voices you can hear just like in this vid i can do that hear the voices it is a very real thing! for those who can hear them! more later! please let me know on this i am still very much interested in all that is titanic!

  • great...hope the restore the building

  • As a Titanic Historian, that was well done. I had chills like i was physically walking through myself. And when the camera paned into the main drawing room. wow, I can even imagine what the narrator would be saying as this is shown. Just beautiful.

Would also like to go through those documents and see what the papers are about.

  • Was in there today again.

I Had to open the 3 vaults only 3 weeks ago down at the rear of Titanic House, dunno what the room was called

    Its an eerie place alright.

    Great video btw

  • If You Ask Why The Offices Are Beaten Up,Its The WWI Bombing raids.

  • Don't believe so. The building was still in use until )ctober 1989 to the best of my knowledge.Unfortunately at the time this footage was shot it was just a very bad case of sheer neglect, peeling paint etc .

  • I can't believe I m the fist to comment in 1year!!!

  • Hey! Saw your work last night on BBCs Ships that changed the World. I love this video, very eeire. I know the feeling in the building as I was lucky to get the chance to walk around upstairs in the Drawing Offices! They really need to get a TITANIC museum sorted soon! Such a shame no one wants to invest!

  • i was fortunate enough myself to have a walk found it a while back.Iwas open jawed the whole time at the beauty of the building (even behind the decay)!

  • I had a chance to wander round this building a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed at how beautiful it once was and appalled at how it has become.

You captured the feel of it perfectly, that whole Marie Celeste feeling of abandonment. It's just a shame that your video stopped short of the WOW factor in the drawing offices...the picture windows in the roof.

Excellent footage! Great that it was captured in this way, as all I got were a few stills.

  • Hey, Thanks a lot. I didn't shoot the picture windows because the pictures (blow ups of old stills) were put there recently, and I felt they took away from the feeling of abandonmnent. I think there are plans to renovate this building - which is great, but also a shame, because like you I felt very privaledged to see this in it's current state of decay.

  • Guess what?!! If you have a tripod and a camera, you can have a steadicam. Search for Zero Cost Steadicam and check it out. I did it today and my footage looks like this.

  • OK, let's see it then.

  • Thx, the steadicam looks really good.

  • Very good turnings of the camera and the music is very great. One asks how much yours steadicam cost?

I would like to buy me also a camera with steadicam.

    greet, TurboBoss

  • The little Steadicam Merlin costs about £500-600.

  • awsome! i was wondering how much it was in the uk. this footage is beautiful by the way the music flows well with your movement and even the content! :)

  • cool, 3 chips, 25p what more could you ask for.. until the red comes out :-)

    cheers

    jas

  • what camera will you be shooting on with the merlin or is the merlin just your rehearsal rig?

  • No, the Merlin is all we have, and I'm going to use some of this footage. It was shot using a Sony V1, and the results are good enough to cut in with other digibeta stuff we've taken (not on a steadicam rig!).

  • That is some stunning camerawork. Thank you. It is easy to visualize these rooms and corridors buzzing with life many decades ago. Now, sadly home to spiders and ghosts of the past. A sad reflection of what they use to be.

Could you tell us a bit more about this series "Ships That Changed The World"

  • Well, it's a series of 3 x 40min documentaries charting the history of Belfast's shipbuilding through the more celebrated ships that had a global impact. Of course the Titanic features largely, but there are many others, including HMS Belfast, the Canberra, HMS Glorious and the M33 Minerva gunship. The presenter is Belfast-born Col. Tim Collins OBE, war hero and motivational military leader. To be shown on BBC Northern Ireland later this year.

  • that was beautiful! Amazing camera work! That was a very lovely video. I enjoyed it immensely! Wonderful job!

    ---Kelly.

  • Top work. Now it all makes sense.

  • Must be a baleex to play the cello and use steady-cam at the same time. What restaurant is this anyway?

  • damn. that is killer. So tell me the truth how long does it take to get this good of a hand with camera movement? I know your using a counter weight but it still takes good body movement.

  • Getting the smooth movement doesn't take that long actually. The hard part is all the other stuff - keeping the framing, stopping "pendulum" swings, gently panning using just your fingertips, not getting the shakes as your arm gets tired, not tripping over stuff etc etc. I've been at it about 3-4 weeks, but not solidly.

  • fucking awesome camera work-buddy :]

id really wanna get one of those Merlins.

hope their prices will go lower sometime...

  • Hey, thanks a lot. A great location helped of course. I'm still a real novice, and it's a tough beast to master, but well worth it! I'll be posting more of this & timelapse stuff soon. Keep watching. Cheers, D.
