  • Man. When I see the comment section on the right of your website I can only imagine what your inbox must look like... Anyway, great tutorials, Iphone app and website. Thanks a bunch!

  • how do i differnciate a G- perm from another G-perm? I memomrized all 4 but i can't quickly know which G- perm to use.

  • Hi badmephisto your video was posted on speedsolving and i like it a lot!

Very good for beginners in cubing! The E-perm is easy to distinguish when you look an edge than you look at the corner color! Because The H and Z have head lights the E hasn't got them! and also the execution is just by looking at the edge an the corner colors!

  • But on your site, the perms have different variations, e.g G(a), G(b) etc

  • j ferm

  • dont really get it :*(

  • @D4rkFang Maybe you should learn how to solve a Rubik's cube??

  • @betbetsukbet what do you mean? I know nearly full PLL.. its just recognizing them.. look at my vids I can solve them lol..

  • @D4rkFang The why dont you get it??

  • @betbetsukbet idk.. do u get it?

  • @D4rkFang absolutely

  • @betbetsukbet lol ok, I can recognise them now :)

  • @D4rkFang nice :)

  • "E perm no real way to identify it."not true if you match up all centers and look at the descending corners and if the colors are flipped like to the chameleon case and match with the centers it is the E perm.

  • @merrygoround6707 Or you just think that if you can't recognize the case then its an E perm.

    :]

  • hi...can u pls show me hw u made ur iphone appp????? m trying to make a app but i dunno hw? pls help me

  • hey badmephisto, thx for he video and i really, really, really love your oll-pdfs!^^

  • Roughly 21 cases?

  • i can solve it in 41 secs! with 2 look oll and 2 look pll

  • would you suggest learning the two look OLL and PLL before learn the full package

  • @speedstackingmanduh

Yeh, because it's much more fun seeing progress immediately, if using beginner last layer, rather than spending hours memorizing the shit, and then spending even more hours, LOTS more hours, practicing every algorithm and recognization.

  • Unrelated question, should I do F and F' with my index fingers or my thumbs?

  • @IsawACDClive

Depends on style. I almost always do F with right index finger, and F' with left index finger. I used to do F' with my right thumb, but after watching a guy do Y permutation in 1.05 second using left index for the F' 's, I switched immediately :)

  • @IsawACDClive

    /watch?v=hPdXn0MFtTc

There you go', in related videos you can see how he executes it slow.

  • To tell apart the clockwise and counterclockwise edge cycles, look at the UR edge. If it's the color opposite the ones around it, counterclockwise. If not, clockwise.

  • Great video, it's just what I was looking for. About E,F,N,J and some others PLL I've already used this methods, but it helps me with V and the lasting PLL.

Anyway I use another method for the G. I think it's faster..but your tutorial it's great, Thanks!

  • I love how you end a lot of your videos with funny bloopers. They always make me laugh!

  • About your new iphone app, I have a few suggestions; (i bought app)

You should probably put subtitles above each oll and pll, to show its name (ie V perm,) or (case 45).

Also you should perhaps add a timer page that graphs your result acording to different dates, to show people they are improving.

Just some input :) thx and peace

  • Very useful, thanks.

  • hi, i commented about a month ago about the iphone app idea and i've just noticed you have one on your website. was that from my suggestion or was it already there or neither? thanks for you vids again, i now know all the PLLs and am finding it easier recognising them :)

  • @providief Yea someone commented and that's what gave me the idea. Maybe it was you, hah :)

  • @badmephisto yeah that was me! it looks good, i may have to buy an iphone 4 now. good luck with it :)

  • @providief hehe yea i searched back in comments history, it was you! thanks, i guess :) Right after I read it I thought it was great idea... I started the development that same day :) thanks! :p

  • @badmephisto no problem, i am quite pleased you liked the idea. i want %10. jk :D

  • @providief ahaha that's actually exactly why I didn't reply the first time! A scenario like that went through my head :P. NO! GO AWAY!!! lol

  • @badmephisto you deserve to make some money from all the effort you put into your site and vids, i hope people buy the app. maybe you can credit me one day ;)

  • thanks so much for these videos, they are a real help. i had an idea that you should make a badmephisto algorithm app for the iphone. i'd buy it (if i had an iphone..) you'd be rich :)

  • OLL & PLL on Fridrich are F***** Hard to understand and memorize

  • @jankdi

Well your not going to understand it with that attitude...it takes practice

  • @jankdi hard 2 understand? oll all yellows on top, pll switch yellow pieces 2 solve. What is so hard 2 understand about that!

  • Great video. Trying to recognize by arrows is just silly.

  • i memerized all the 2 look PLLs and 2 look OLLs in 2 days...im going to use this vid to help me remember them all =]

  • where'd you get those KIND of cubes?and there are so many that you own...

  • Lol G J permutation 10:30 LOL

  • this video enlight me on how to memorize PLLs. i'm stuggling for 2 weeks to remember it all. but no success :(

after watching this video, i've nailed all of them in just 3 days!

    that's a lot man

    i'm following you on twitter

  • heh yes i got that :)

and thanks, glad to hear it

  • so, you really aren't tweeting about cubing?

    :D

  • nope, never. vast majority of my real life friends don't know I'm on youtube, or that I can even solve the cube

  • what? lol

i'm really laughing really hard about this

    why is that?

like i always carry around 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 everywhere i go in my silly bag and play it around whenever possible

  • You're a closet cuber. I'm worried dude. That's not healthy.

  • @howsth1s so its not healthy getting in practice when no one else whould practise, well its a healthy way to win contests!

  • @skatercuber4life Um. I was joking that he says no one knows he cubes . . . like he's cubophobic. Still don't get it?

  • Whitch typs of cubes are this?

  • wats y prime? offtopic :P

  • y prime is ---> y'

it's a counter clockwise cube rotation on Y axis (just imagine a cartesius diagram)

  • Thanks! Very helpful

  • another great video!

    thanks for the help.

  • If I may suggest, why don't you either post a video or a section on your site including some PLL recognition exercises. Like, "which features does this PLL contain?" and "In the ___ PLL, what features exist?"

  • Amazing job, now I'll learn all the PLLs :D:D:D

    Thanks (:

  • very good vid and lol at the end:)

  • THNX MEAN UR THE BEST !

  • it was just a joke sheesh

  • oh shut up, terrible joke

  • at 9:30 there are headlights everywhere

  • nice G15...i own one too!

  • lol i love the bloopers on your vids, e permutation is easily recognised because all edges are in correct realtive position! ::) thnx for the vid

  • hey nice vid. do u have any tips to remember which algorithm matches up with the particular PLL. (especially for the G perms)?

  • u use DIY type a right?

can u send me the link for it on cube4you....cuz i cant find it...! its rather annoying...

  • Is there a way to remember the G perms ????

  • i see that ur question was a week ago but if you haven't got an answer or figured something out already thrawst's PLL vid has a very good explaination of the G perms, it helped me a lot :)

  • k thanx

  • Look at the headlights, if they're opposite, put the 2 pair on the side, if not, put the 2 pair in front or back. Back begins with u' front with u front right with R U R' back right with R' U' R. I will have a vid on them sometime in the future.

  • what do u mean? could u plz be a bit more detailed becuz i think u've got a point....which i need to know!

    thanks!

  • I will have a video on them

  • please do....=)

  • The vid is up

  • yeah lol i commented on it 2 days ago...!!

its a great vid, thanks dude!

  • i like the bloobers at the end.

the video was actually a lot of help, i was having a hard time memorizing the G perms and now its slightly easier

  • the g perm has a way of memorising actually,

after practice it will be in your fingers

  • I need help recognizing which N perm to do.

  • I use Badmephisto's first N perm and the left version for the second one. If the solved corner is right, start with R' if it's solved on the left side start with L. I'll have a vid on them sometime in the future.

  • Thank you very much :D I'll practice G perms -.- they're so hard!

  • not hard at all ....

  • Now they are easy, its just problem memorising them :D

  • look its all to do with the yellow square on the top layer(2x2 square) on the top right corner of the LL.

whenevr u do an R or R' the square muat be a square.

i woundnt think u would have understood but i ll try to make a vid and show u.

  • I just need to learn N perm ......

  • yeah me too , i hate n perms

  • Comment removed

  • your keyboard glows.

  • @xxxJOHNALEXxxx

    I think its a Logitech G15 keyboard

  • Hey I need some help on the N Perms. Is there any faster algo for it? It's awfully long.

  • bloopers were funny and the video was very helpfull oh and i learn how to do the rubiks cube from a different person but after that u are the person with all this videos helping me out and i just keep lowering my times thxs badmephisto

  • Really reallu useful and helpful. amazing work thanks Badmephisto

  • lol blooper.

  • lol !

  • how do you recognize R from G from just 2 sides

  • In the R permutation the headlights are extended by a 2 block on one of the adjacent sides. The G permuation has eitehr a 2 block that is not connected to the headlights or no 2 block at all on the adjacent sides.

@Badmephisto: Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you forgot about the U perm during the headlights part and about the 3-edge cycle during the 3-block part. =|

  • the Uperm doesnt have headlights, and the 3edge cycle (which IS the Uperm) doesnt have a 3block either...

  • this vid. rockz O.o ty

  • could you make an example video for this? kinda like your thought process video. and could you add a little more detail like what you look for first. please!

  • *Is one of those comments I'm gonna make*

Gotta love the bloopers; I wouldn't mind if you messed up on purpose every once in awhile ;)

  • thanks badmephisto for the video. it came just in time when i was trying to figure out myself how to shorten the PLL recognition time by recognizing each different pattern. ur video is very helpful to aid my learning process. btw, i have a video request here. can u make a video on thinking process when solving cross? i'm having problem solving cross intuitively within 2 seconds. my cross will usually take about 3 to 4 seconds. thank you.

  • "Did I just say 'J' again!??!?!?!"

    Roflz...

I love E perms, they're quite cool because following patterns is for squares.

E perms are SOOO triangular...ish. XD

I still can't do the N perms because I mix the two of them up (why is one soooo much harder than the other?!?!??!).

    Z perms FTW. :D

  • do diy cubes make a big difference with ur times. roght now i have a 33s avrg with a rugular lubed rubix branned

  • does it? i still dont have any diy cubes. im using regular rubik's cube. my cube it so old.. im not even kiddin. I dont have the green side any more because all the stickers just fell off. My yellow and orange are almost like white. sometimes even i have trouble solving my own cube because there are 3 white sides. haha. And my cube randomly locks up a lot. where did you get ur diy? can you explain in detail how exactly diy makes difference? cuse i've heard that

regular cube + good lub = diy

  • they improved my times by about 5 seconds

  • well there is one way to recognize an E perm, when you have 2 diagonal corners solved. Thats about it though, gahh I hate E!! (recognition and the algo itself) :(

    P.S. yay for bloopers!

  • right. but you cant see both diagonal corners at the same time easily.

    E perm sucks :(

  • so some reason, i'm just good at reconizing the E perm. I still can do the E alg fast so instead i just do two T perm. ironicly, 2 T perm is faster than one single E perm. :)

  • you might want to make clearfication on the G-perm tips. Because when you'r discribin the headlight, you had it facing you and that does not match up with your diagrams for the G-perms.All the headlight should face the left side and you should explian more about the location of the pairs. for example, if the pairs is located on the right side lower corner, it's G(d), right side upper corner then it's G(b), backside G(c), and front side G(a). That way all the situation match up with you diagrams.

  • hmmm... maybe

  • Thanks once again! This helped me improve a bit.

  • THANKS!!!!

  • i kind of figured that out too just right before u make this vedio i mean about the G-perms. But this is still a lot of help. thanx. now i av. around 35sec and i was invited to be in our school's talent show to solve the cube. im excited!! i stared solving the cube ur way for about 2 month and now i pretty much know all PLLs and 1/3 of OLL's. I use 2look OLL's most of time and they are pretty fast.I though the 2 look OLL's are just as fast as the one step OLL's, meanly because im slow at reconze

  • Wow! This is a ton of help!! I never would have thought of it this way... Thanks a lot!

  • Did I just say "J" again? LOL!

  • hooray!

  • i was just about to post a tutorial on this.

    darn

  • YAY!!!!!!
