Man. When I see the comment section on the right of your website I can only imagine what your inbox must look like... Anyway, great tutorials, Iphone app and website. Thanks a bunch!
Hi badmephisto your video was posted on speedsolving and i like it a lot!
Very good for beginners in cubing! The E-perm is easy to distinguish when you look an edge than you look at the corner color! Because The H and Z have head lights the E hasn't got them! and also the execution is just by looking at the edge an the corner colors!
"E perm no real way to identify it."not true if you match up all centers and look at the descending corners and if the colors are flipped like to the chameleon case and match with the centers it is the E perm.
Yeh, because it's much more fun seeing progress immediately, if using beginner last layer, rather than spending hours memorizing the shit, and then spending even more hours, LOTS more hours, practicing every algorithm and recognization.
Depends on style. I almost always do F with right index finger, and F' with left index finger. I used to do F' with my right thumb, but after watching a guy do Y permutation in 1.05 second using left index for the F' 's, I switched immediately :)
To tell apart the clockwise and counterclockwise edge cycles, look at the UR edge. If it's the color opposite the ones around it, counterclockwise. If not, clockwise.
Great video, it's just what I was looking for. About E,F,N,J and some others PLL I've already used this methods, but it helps me with V and the lasting PLL.
Anyway I use another method for the G. I think it's faster..but your tutorial it's great, Thanks!
hi, i commented about a month ago about the iphone app idea and i've just noticed you have one on your website. was that from my suggestion or was it already there or neither? thanks for you vids again, i now know all the PLLs and am finding it easier recognising them :)
@providief hehe yea i searched back in comments history, it was you! thanks, i guess :) Right after I read it I thought it was great idea... I started the development that same day :) thanks! :p
@badmephisto you deserve to make some money from all the effort you put into your site and vids, i hope people buy the app. maybe you can credit me one day ;)
thanks so much for these videos, they are a real help. i had an idea that you should make a badmephisto algorithm app for the iphone. i'd buy it (if i had an iphone..) you'd be rich :)
If I may suggest, why don't you either post a video or a section on your site including some PLL recognition exercises. Like, "which features does this PLL contain?" and "In the ___ PLL, what features exist?"
i see that ur question was a week ago but if you haven't got an answer or figured something out already thrawst's PLL vid has a very good explaination of the G perms, it helped me a lot :)
Look at the headlights, if they're opposite, put the 2 pair on the side, if not, put the 2 pair in front or back. Back begins with u' front with u front right with R U R' back right with R' U' R. I will have a vid on them sometime in the future.
I use Badmephisto's first N perm and the left version for the second one. If the solved corner is right, start with R' if it's solved on the left side start with L. I'll have a vid on them sometime in the future.
bloopers were funny and the video was very helpfull oh and i learn how to do the rubiks cube from a different person but after that u are the person with all this videos helping me out and i just keep lowering my times thxs badmephisto
In the R permutation the headlights are extended by a 2 block on one of the adjacent sides. The G permuation has eitehr a 2 block that is not connected to the headlights or no 2 block at all on the adjacent sides.
@Badmephisto: Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you forgot about the U perm during the headlights part and about the 3-edge cycle during the 3-block part. =|
could you make an example video for this? kinda like your thought process video. and could you add a little more detail like what you look for first. please!
thanks badmephisto for the video. it came just in time when i was trying to figure out myself how to shorten the PLL recognition time by recognizing each different pattern. ur video is very helpful to aid my learning process. btw, i have a video request here. can u make a video on thinking process when solving cross? i'm having problem solving cross intuitively within 2 seconds. my cross will usually take about 3 to 4 seconds. thank you.
does it? i still dont have any diy cubes. im using regular rubik's cube. my cube it so old.. im not even kiddin. I dont have the green side any more because all the stickers just fell off. My yellow and orange are almost like white. sometimes even i have trouble solving my own cube because there are 3 white sides. haha. And my cube randomly locks up a lot. where did you get ur diy? can you explain in detail how exactly diy makes difference? cuse i've heard that
well there is one way to recognize an E perm, when you have 2 diagonal corners solved. Thats about it though, gahh I hate E!! (recognition and the algo itself) :(
so some reason, i'm just good at reconizing the E perm. I still can do the E alg fast so instead i just do two T perm. ironicly, 2 T perm is faster than one single E perm. :)
you might want to make clearfication on the G-perm tips. Because when you'r discribin the headlight, you had it facing you and that does not match up with your diagrams for the G-perms.All the headlight should face the left side and you should explian more about the location of the pairs. for example, if the pairs is located on the right side lower corner, it's G(d), right side upper corner then it's G(b), backside G(c), and front side G(a). That way all the situation match up with you diagrams.
i kind of figured that out too just right before u make this vedio i mean about the G-perms. But this is still a lot of help. thanx. now i av. around 35sec and i was invited to be in our school's talent show to solve the cube. im excited!! i stared solving the cube ur way for about 2 month and now i pretty much know all PLLs and 1/3 of OLL's. I use 2look OLL's most of time and they are pretty fast.I though the 2 look OLL's are just as fast as the one step OLL's, meanly because im slow at reconze

About your new iphone app, I have a few suggestions; (i bought app)
You should probably put subtitles above each oll and pll, to show its name (ie V perm,) or (case 45).
Also you should perhaps add a timer page that graphs your result acording to different dates, to show people they are improving.
Just some input :) thx and peace
