  • Gives me chills!!! Love, love, love this movie....

  • That's the worst disguise I've ever seen. I'd forgotten it was this bad. Also, gotta love how his deformity disappears around the edge of the mask.

  • raoul: Crap. I'm nothing compared to him.

Me: F**k yeah. You got nothing raoul. The Phantom's got everything. Plus extra

  • @aidarulesthud yeah, like 30 years on the girl hes peodbearing on.

  • i would so like to act in a mouvie whit Gerard Butler. He knows how to fell the charecter. i love it.

  • i think if Christine choose phantom, she will change him to a good person. but no! Bam, Raoul is coming, he didn't notice her then she was this ballet girl, but then she sing in a big musical, BAM! he fall in love. phantom loved her so much, maybe he was a killer, but wait, he was a human too, and he had feelings... Stupid Raoul. (sorry for my english, )

  • Well, the Phantom didn't love Christine, he was in love with himself, and wanted to collect her, had a sick obsession..

  • @EvraVostok You make a very valid argument. This is something that everyone should think about. But, the passion between them is obvious in this part, and it is beautiful.

  • @ToxicBiohazardPro Actually, she didn't know that this was the Phantom.

  • thumbs up if you if you think Raoul is crying because he knows Christine likes it

  • best song ever

  • thumbs up if you would have picked the Phantom!!

  • @chrisanthie23 It depends ... if I loved Raul sure I would choose.

if the phantom would choose to love him, of course!

  • I would have picked the Phantom...

    TEAM PHANTOM<3

  • Man, this song makes me want to bump fuck parts!

  • @thx1191 Which makes sense, because the song is about fucking. Just listen to the lyrics, it's in the future tense for a reason.

  • love how is hair and forehead are fine under the mask and then when the mask is off he is lik partially bald and his forehead is disfigured

  • the best part of this video is 5:33 when raoul is crying cause he knows that christine will never love him like the way she loves the phantom. thumbs up if you agree

  • Music Sex :D

  • i don't get it.. does she love the phantom or that other guy? .. but Gerard ALL the way ! :))

  • I am one who enjoys visual beauty of movies (=motion pictures), so romanticized opulence of 19th century France and emotion and loveliness of music make this film very enjoyable to me. Poor Piangi, though.

  • i should have kept the library's movie of The Phantom of the Opera

  • Gerard's voice gives me chills every time I hear him sing! He is soooooo amazing!

  • this song is amazing

  • Gerard's voice is like butter melting on toast :3

  • @Funtabulosity329 He makes me melt!

  • Stupid young women have turned this into another Twilight.

Way to ruin a good movie and an even better musical.

  • Gerard Butler is so omg!

  • Raoul is stressed XD

  • Comment removed

  • 5:38 pause to laugh at Raoul XD

  • I saw this in a town production. in the play, Christine really is horrified by the phantom. but the movie used sex appeal to get younger audiences like you stupid ppl -.- the phantom actually is evil...

  • @TheNightcloudHATER Yup. The Phantom was a tragic figure no disputing that, but at the end of the day he still was a creepy psycho murderer.

  • @TheNightcloudHATER oh yes and I read the book. To say the least, you are incredibly false :)

  • When she sings when will the flames at last, consume up...I ALWAYS get the chills

  • OH MY GOD ......... I feel That sex was just vocalized

  • Gerard, please feel free to climb into my bed any moment now...

  • why does every one say that gerard butler is a bad phantom.

  • @ana246824 i was just thinking the same thing. I think people are scared to say they like him for some reason

  • @ana246824 Cause they don't know how to judge without being negative?

  • With his mask on all of his forehead looks absolutly normal...without half of it is blood red! The mask didn't even cover his forehead!!!! Did anyone else catch this?

  • @operagirl121 What I have come to conclude is that there is merely a flesh colored extension of his mask covering his forehead.

  • @operagirl121 at 1st i thnk about it, but then.. oh well.. they just want to make it more dramatic when he suddenly go without mask.. like they says he was the creature of darkness ^ ^ (i still think eric hot)

  • I love that shirt on him...he's yummy.

  • Moja omiljena scena...My favourite part...

  • hahaha look at raoul crying!!

  • Who else is obsessed with this movie?

  • @cathead772 i am ! I can wathc that film 10000 times and never i am bored of that :D

  • @cathead772 I am!!

  • @cathead772 totally obsessed. Love this scene.

  • @cathead772 The question is: Who isin't??????

  • @cathead772 Me and my family watch it 13 times in one day. Very Serious.

  • She is really stupid and letting him believe that she loved him at the end was just evil.

  • @664mariah She does care for him but she never pretended to love him. She really was very much attracted to him though. Read the book, and the "sequel" play from Andrew Lloyd Webber.

  • I just watch it with my sister yesterday by focus for the 2nd time .. and i think i cried harder the 2nd time around ... does anyone fell the same way? .. I think i might buy the movie .. Although i will never watch it LOL i think it hurt more than Romeo and Juliet OMG! :(:::::::::::::

  • i think i had a dream like this....then the monkey with cymbals came out and ate a red mushroom and got really big and we had to run to avoid cymbal crashing deaths....

  • One of the major gripes about this movie is that it is all style over substance. But why shouldn't it be? What is beautiful about this movie is the visuals and the emotional power of the music. The plot is merely a device for Webber to introduce us to the "experience" of the POTO. So the movie does lack somewhat in the story department, but it personally doesn't bother me because that's not where my focus is.

  • @polymorphic123 Well, the musical version has that... without the story flaws. "Remember there are worse things than a shattered chandelier." "Well then, let it be war upon you both!" "I advise you to comply."

The Phantom experience isn't The Phantom experience. He is a charmer, a teenage girl's every dream here. He shouldn't be. He should be mad, insane, and yet only that because he never grew out of being a child.

This Phantom has too much protocol, style, flair. It's not the "real" Erik.

  • @Iced1992 I'm not judging your liking of this version (I love it to bits, perhaps more so than the musical), but it is undeniably inconsistent and flawed, and it makes the ending so difficult to imagine. That it's so open-ended IN a closed ending is what bothers me so much. Perhaps I'll just find some way to paste "Love Never Dies" behind this version. That'd make some sense.

  • @Iced1992 You are clearly much more of a fan of POTO than I am (I've only seen the movie). However, when you say "real" Erik, I imagine you are comparing with the Erik in the musical or the original novel. I don't think this is fair since no where does Webber claim that the movie is to be a faithful rendition. In fact from the casting of a much younger and sexier Phantom, it is clear he had a different vision for the movie. (By the way, the Phantom is never given a name in the movie.)

  • @polymorphic123 I agree. and @Iced1992 it isn't completely flawed. In some cases, the movie related to the book.

  • @polymorphic123 yes he duz hav name the angle of music duhhh

  • i have brought you.......FOR SPARTAH!!!

  • love this song:D techincally christine chose erik at the end then the kiss begun(should've been me kissing himXD) then erik started crying letting them both go because he couldn't break there love i guess because it wouldn't really work out because he killed with his magic lasso.., so christine left with rauol looking back , but loves erik still yaaa.. I heard this from my chorus teacher.

  • The point is, chronology, it's lacking in full, and the story makes no sense. I dare you to find flaw in the musical. I found hundreds of flaws throughout this movie. I still love it, but it's nonsensical even so.

  • @Iced1992 OK, I'm sure "hundreds of flaws" is an exaggeration. But I did read somewhere that Webber intended for Christine's reveal of the Phantom during PONR to be an act of deliberate betrayal, in which case her "entrancement" was merely an act. This is somewhat disappointing and at odds with the fact that the entrancement seems very really.

  • @polymorphic123 Well, actually, I have a document listing every single "oddity" I found, and they are well over two-hundred. I have a second document I made after watching the musical version. Maybe not 300, but those are still "hundreds." I can show them some time if you want (after I complete my analysis).

The entrancement IS an act in the musical version, but I never got the impression the movie Christine was a consistent character at all. It just made little sense psychologically.

  • @Iced1992 In contrast, I found only under a dozen "oddities" in the musical version, mainly because the Phantom there is a complete madman. I love him there, but I seriously doubt any of the Erik fangirls would find that character appealing in the slightest. In fact, I know they won't. The 2011 rendition makes it perfectly clear the Phantom was destined to live and die miserably, odd and tragic as that may be.

  • Gerard is good but i still prefer Michael Crawford

  • 4:56 ALWAYS gives me chills!!!! she really gets into it :) you know Raoul is like oh my god! hahaha sucker! lol

  • I like them, but I prefer Ramin as The Phantom, but I mean , Gerard Butler is ok

  • 2:22 *melts*

  • This scene shows exactly what is wrong with the movie version: in the book and the musical, Christine is terrified to see the Phantom again. Here, she is as entranced and in love as she was during "Music of the Night," hence making it incredibly confusing how she suddenly reveals him.

The chronology is completely messed up, which makes it even more confusing.

In the musical, he kills people with the chandelier before this event. That is why his soul is called distorted. He didn't here.

  • @Iced1992 In the movie, he kills Piangi, hence overtaking his role.

I personally think the ambivalence and ambiguity of Christine makes the story richer on an emotional level. Through the entire song, she of course knows it's the Phantom (and a good number of the cast members know it's not Piangi). When she sings her lyrics, she's not just going through the motions to trap the Phantom. A part of her truly feels what she's singing towards the Phantom.

  • @polymorphic123 She isn't ambiguous, she is complete borderline. I ask you to compare it to the musical (where the Chandelier falls first). Her behavior isn't consistent even for emotional turmoil. They acted it poorly throughout, gave off the wrong story, and made it complete nonsense.

In the musical she is torn by the intense malice the phantom exerts and his pitiful nature.

Here, she seems to be torn by teenage erotics and occasional oddities in the Phantom's behavior, caused by herself.

  • WHAT!!!!!!!! NO FRIGGING ENDING!?!?!?!

  • 2:25 it looks like he wanna choke her! ( in a sexy way )

  • @iGNONERA She was 17 during filming and 18 when it came out.

  • I cant stop thinking life is a musical, a game of romance or make believe lol everytime i hear this song, others,or watch the film i get obsessed with the sexy phantom and wish i was in the situation, but to bad i can't im so sad:( i love this movie so muuch-3 erik(genard) is sexyy

  • thumbs up if your under 18 and a big fan of the phantom!

  • @YoyoMarraz I just turned 18 on halloween

  • @YoyoMarraz I've watched it 21 times in one week

  • Oh my goodness, is it legal that i'm lusting after gerard butler? I'm only 16 :P

  • @mexicangirl265 well Emmy Rosum was only 17 when they filmed this

  • @operaemi Actually, wasn't she 16? She was 17 when they movie came out.

  • and a side note for anyone who knows things about theater: why is he not wearing stage makeup?!?! silly movie...they put stagemakeup on all actors except the main ones....

  • sexiest scene in any musical, no?

  • oops i thought it was zorro

  • Every time I watch this film (or another one of my favourite musicals), I walk aroud for like a week thinking that life is a musical, jumping and singing xD This song is so much fun to sing when no one hears it^^ It's a bit awkward when you sing along to it, so caught up in the moment that you don't notice that someone enters the room like; Ok, wtf are you doing?? It has happened xD

  • I really like the way this scene is set up compared to the stage version. It's an interesting take on it.

  • 1:35 she'll catch flies if she keeps her mouth open XD

  • ummmmm i wouldnt have taken his mask off i would have bent over and been like RAVAGE ME ANGEL OF MUSIC....

  • at 5:30 that dude was like damn hes fine

  • 1:05 his voice made her cream in her pants.....pants.......pants...........(cable guy quote, jim carrey)

  • Raoul told christine to do the play and he ends up crying? ony because he realized that the phantom/ Erik (his real name) is so much hotter and better then him. and how anyone would be attracted to him. FINALLY! I would've fallen for erik the moment I heard him sing.

and Gerard plays him perfectly, but i already loved him <3

  • HOT! i want to get kidnapped by him so badly XD

  • Christine is so stupid. I'd choose the phantom over Raoul any day.

  • @RubyBunnyBear thats just andrew loyd webber for you!

  • @RubyBunnyBear Then good thing the child Christine has in the sequel is actually the Phantom's and not Raoul's...

  • is there really a sequal with the same actors?!?!

  • @ChocolateEyedGirl87 Sadly, no. It's a play that Andrew Lloyd Webber created because he thought there should be more to the story. Look it up on Wiki. Its called "Love Never Dies" :)

  • @ElfenLied8389 Andrew Lloyd Webber didn't create The Phantom Of The Opera! He just wrote the music.

  • @cathead772 Read what I was talking about. He really did create a sequel. Wasn't talking about The Phantom of the Opera. I know he didn't create it. The sequel he did. Thanks for reading at what I was writing :D It's called "Love Never Dies"! Thank you!!

  • @ElfenLied8389 Sequel? And I call myself a fan. Tell me where I can find this.

  • @RubyBunnyBear Should be released on DVD later this year. Look it up on Wiki. :) Sadly it is not a movie movie, but a filming of the Broadway hit :D "Love Never Dies"

  • @ElfenLied8389 I'll probably still watch it. I love phantom of the opera enough to see anything that relates to it. Haha

  • @RubyBunnyBear Touche. :D Though I read about the play on Wiki and would say the ending is quiet sad :(

  • @ElfenLied8389 I'll still watch it. I love movies/plays that make me get all emotional, it means they are good. Haha.

  • @RubyBunnyBear that's exactly what I said!

  • Pretty sure I'm going to watch this movie again now...

  • The lst time I watched this movie was soo hypnotized. Gerard Butler IS THE HOTTEST in this movie. I need a man like the phantom lol. This is scene and the music of the night was the two best scenes in the whole movie. I want to learn that dance they are doing in the back.

  • My fav song from the entire movie.

  • yeah i know i commented already but it still gets to me XD Raoul had a fuck me moment ;D and christine is ready to nom nom on this phantom and then she had to take off his mask ... phantom: oh shit! *dramatic pause and eyes locked* christine: oh damnit never mind this isnt gonna work out... *everyone :O raoul: yes i still have a chance XD

  • Wow!

  • my favorite musical EVER! ♥

~ whats weird tho is their ages when this movie was made. Emmy was 18, Gerard was 35, and Patrick was 31. whoa now lol

  • lol not 2:23 nvm!

  • 2:23 The Phantom is making Christine touch her own boob!

  • I do PERFECT n christines part on " Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

  • Ahahahahahahaha i cnt get over how hilarious the phantom looks when he swishes off his cloak XD

  • Christine is an awesome actor to make Raoul think she actually loves the Phantom or um masked starnger lol

  • Phantom: *swish cloak* heck yeah i look awesome!

  • 1:12 Erik legit had sex with Christine just by singing to her

5:36 Raoul looks like he's going to cry XD

  • 2034 people thought the dislike bar was a upside down thumbs up !!! Downloaded the mp3 with MelodyQuest . com for free bit.ly\yHNrLk !

  • Were her straps supposed to slide down?

  • Gerard Butler was sexy since "Dracula 2000"!!!

  • Proof that Gerard Butler was sexy before 300.

  • Raoul is like '' YOU AGAIN!?!?!?!? I THOUGHT I GOT AWAY FRO YOU @SS HOLE!! ''

  • You all seriously need to read the book by gaston leroux. I'm halfways thru it right now. In the bk so far raoul is an asshole and has an older brother and the phantom is a lot more gentle. Christine... I don't know what to say about her.

  • I thought the phantom was hot and sexy... till he took off his mask. :I

  • ohhh the phantoms voice give me goosebumps

  • XDDDDDD kinda...I love this movie its amazing and their voices are just so perfect..I love watching this part of the movie because its just so......Hot???...yes hot :D

  • everyone who's watching Christine and Phantom are all thinking damn this is getting me hard ;)

  • The best musical ever!!!

  • love this part of the movie

  • you're honestly trying to tell me you cut this scene short before shit starts to get real??!!

  • When you think about it this song is about.....well, Sex.

"In my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining defenseless and silent." <---Proof. xD

  • @linkfan160 *taps your head with bread stick* You my dear have a silly silly mind xD...I love you still though lol!

  • @UndineoftheWater15 Well I didn't mean it in a perverted way! xD

  • @linkfan160 haha soo wrong but funny and true still a good song tho maybe a girl could use it as sex music for a special nite jkjk

  • Yesterday i watched this 2 and a half times LOL and each time I sang

  • 2:38. He broke her braclet...no wonder she took off the mask..

  • I wonder how long it took Gerard to practice flipping the cape on the railing...

  • I LOVE her hair...

  • this song.. is the most sexual song, in the most beautiful way <3

  • the phantom just likes fliping around that cape dosnt he

  • i adore this scene. thank you for posting. heck i'm even attracted to the phantom and i'm a lesbain haha

    Kit xx

  • Permission to hump the phantom please?

  • Comment removed

  • omfg, gerard butler ( the phantom ) is hot.... but the phantom is... phantom.... i would so choose phantom

  • I have a crush on The Phantom. Fuck -.-

  • Orgasm at 1:12

  • Ohhh.. I was waiting for him to do the "Christine, that's all I ask of you"-bit! Darnit..

I often get all depressed when I realize Gerard Butler isn't going to kidnap me and sing with that perfect raw voice and worship me forever in his dungeon with candles. Dammit! >_<

  • @TheMissUllis ...I do too. I am not losing hope yet! :)

  • @TheMissUllis *sniff* me too *tear*

  • Raoul is crying because he fell in love with the Phantom too.

  • @TheArquiFer

    lol

  • @TheArquiFer She never fell in love, she's both afraid and fond of him. Raoul is just jealous and that's why he's crying.

  • @TheArquiFer omfg yes!

  • i saw this play two years ago and was completely obsessed... i dont think i could me more in love with a fictional character <3

  • @AmandaRain97 IKR.... ._.

  • This was concidered a very very sexual song for the time period that is why everyone looks so shocked when hearing it.

  • Phantom did. It's easier, in a way, to fade into oblivion and not to try to rise above the lot you're given. It's easier to let the darkness consume you. But the rollercoaster he put Christine on? One's destiny is one's own choice. But he tried to impose darkness on her, too.

  • Phantom is broken, wounded and alone. The psychology that went into the character is deep-- breathtaking in its complexity, pitiable in its pain, entirely human. But a murderer? Absolutely. Abusive, controlling? Without question. There are so many other things he could have done with his life. In hard times, many men turn to shadows and darkness as a refuge.

  • Phantom looks like Zorro in this song ;D

  • @ChynnaDance I totally agree with your ending. Every time I watch this I wish Erik got Christine, which is why it always makes me sad lol

  • I could tell at 3:51 Phantom was getting a boner!! XDXDXDXD

  • Why the hell was Raoul just standing I would be like "it is the phantom get him!!!"

  • Painfully beautiful scene.

  • OMG i watched it again and at 4:52 he's thinking oh Christine will be mine in your face phantom. wait, who's that... oh SH*T

and then at 5:36 he thinking

oh great you again, get your dirty hands of her!!!

  • I'm definitely rewriting the ending. Here is how it goes....

    Phantom gets Christine

Raul gets the cute ballet girl

La Carlotta gets another rich dude (sadly ):-P

    and everyone is happy YEAH

I guess that wouldn't make a good dramatic story would it?

oh well, happily ever after. ;-)

  • To all people saying that one of the reasons Chrisitne and Erik(phantom) shouldn't be together is because of the age difference....IT"S THE 19TH CENTURY!!! If a girl didn't get married by 21 she'd be considered a spinster, and I also want to point out that girls Chrisitne's age back then would get married to men who were ten years their senior AT LEAST. Also Raoul is like 24 in this, which is an 8 year difference.
