  • fuck thats clean guitar playing.

  • 1983 video for the 1984 audio set! i had this on cassette for 1984 . I love it..

  • 4o\m/

  • M.S,G and Scorpions - FOREVER=)

  • speaking of the scorpions i met them last year and got them to sign my Michael Schenker flying v guitar!

  • This isn't Sarah Brightman!!

  • I was in the US Air Force in England and had never heard of Michael Schenker. We went to this show and wow I was just amazed. THen when the guys from the Scorpions came out it was just crazy. I got this on VCR, DVD, and origanl LP that is still not opened. One of the highlights of a very long and full concert experience. Very nice. Rock Will Never Die from this set is the best solo ever on recording I think.

  • @5150redhead Yep he opened up this show (built to destroy) with captain nemo in detroit that year chris glen had appendix surgery that day so michael played sans a bass player the keyboardist did his best ray manzarik impression with left handed keys.

  • OWNED

  • I love this line up. Derek St Holmes too. I found this on CD with all 15 tracks just the other day. Thank you Heritage Records in Calgary. Last of the independants.

Great live performance. Incredible energy. The main man on fire. The tone, orgasmic.

  • from 1:29 onwards wouldn't you like to be on the recieving end of those wonderful flying fingers back then.......

  • oh excelente msg

  • This is one of the best - I was addicted from the first moment I heard the first bars of this track. Watching his legs going 0.23 and the cockeyed grin that comes over his face at 0.51 it's a true classic. Talk about flying fingers you've just got to watch him

  • 2:06 make me fly away..........

  • Stunning, simply stunning. Agreed with Joshfontanella 100 %. Music like this isn't made anymore...

  • I love MSG but Michael looks blown out of his fucking mind up on stage, thereby making it even more epic

  • 懐かしい‼ 高校生の頃を思い出します。

  • i didn't know it was also a video! i have the original vinyl ;D

  • This riff is SOOOOO underrated!! Just listen to it and your hair on the back will stand tall for a whole year. I mean, why stupid songs like those of U2 or NIrvana are getting so much recognition while a masterpiece like this isnt?? Something is wrong with the world!! Seriously!!

  • @GraceLynx I´m agree with you absolutely!!

  • I EARGASMED when he started to play at 2:08

  • しびれる!くぅ~

  • C. Nemo would beg for mercy listening this.

    No wonder.

  • A Masterpiece

  • Jules Verne would be very proud to have one of his characters as a base for such a great song....

  • They made both a music and video recording of this performance, but seems the video DVD is hard to find now. Amazon does not stock it, I found I could get it out of Russia though...

  • nevermind. the recorded versions guitar tab had it wrong. as usual

  • i'm pretty sure they got the solo off sync at 1:59

  • Where can you get the video of this show? This has to get in to my classic performance collection....

  • @ltkjunk vintage footage dot net

  • When my friend heard this song in my car he was like, o its the eddie trunk opening theme song, i was LMFAO....

  • I really like how Michael uses tempo and beat changes to make his solos very dynamic and tasty

  • one of the greatest instrumentals ever written. Never get tired of hearing this!

  • Let's see Justin Beiber play that without hurting himself. Aint going to happen.

  • very underrated riff

  • Great !

  • ROCK!

  • questoè il concerto dove andai sicuro di trovare il Many. All' epoca non c'erano telefonini.

  • metal aint got shit on michael - michael OWNS every form of metal..

  • michael is one bad ass mama jama

  • wow this is brilliant ...who are those 8 asses???

  • He is very very good. He should cut the ends off those strings. I left mine like that once and really hurt my eye.

  • Great tour that year. I was at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium show and Michael just blew Ted Nugent away. Ted just had to admit it during his show about how good Schenker was.

  • iron maiden stole alot of his lics...

  • @skipjacket bit harsh to say they 'stole' his licks, more probably Adrian Smith was inspired by Schenker's style, which is like a compliment really.

In other news, I think the snare drum could do with being louder O_o

  • 8 IDIOTEN

  • lol, the top recommended video to the right of this one, "The Truth about MSG, Monosodium Glutamate" :)

  • michael is one of the greatest rock guitarists better than vai and satriani

  • Not that hard compared to Vai.

  • Just think...Michael never uses his pinky.....

  • @MrPJQ68 I love it when people say that, cause they don't know shit. Guess you missed the lead part at 1:52. Ever see the video "Into the Arena" by blackmetal619 here on youtube? Or Bijiou Pleasurette 1984 by AXEFLYERFV. He doesn't use it like the mindless noodling of other players whom he inspired. The thing is he is all over the fretboard and doesn't stay in one position for very long at all. He is silky smooth and way more melodic than his contemporaries.

  • @kingofthedeep

gotta agree. I saw him unplugged in the 90's. man can play. he reminded me of BB King. He actually scared me. Until the crucifix fell out of his shirt. He uses his pinky... he has sustain, and vibrato like BB. I may be nuts (ok...I'm nuts) But...he was good in '72. whats he doin now?

  • @dcd442 No he was fucking great in 72 on Lonesome Crow at 16. Whats he doing now? Don't really know. I really am only a huge huge fan of the old stuff. 72-84.

Its a young mans game really. All these guys get burned out and start to lose some of the "edge" after 10-12 years or so. By "guys", I mean all the brilliant rock guitar players. It starts out being fun and writing great songs/solos and somewhere along the lines it becomes work and loses some of the excitement. It shows with all of them.

  • @dcd442 Still Michael Schenker and Uli Roth are my 2 favorite rock guitarists ever. And I have heard them all. No one sounded fresher and melodic in their songs/solos.

They had tone, phrasing, speed, vibrato that was godly. And all of their songs sounded non repetitive and very different. Marks of great song writers as well. Rare.

  • @kingofthedeep

    I agree...

there were tons of proficient players. What sets the greats apart, is feeling, and originality.

  • I remember seeing this on a bootleg VHS years ago. Thanks for posting this amazing performance.

  • Super hard riff to play clean..

  • do you think we will be watching this in 50yrs time and thinking its still good,er dam right we will

  • @scorps59 YES a lot of music comes and goes but michael schenker is legend

  • Very tasteful. No fluff and everything's where it should be. And the shelf-life of this song is "no expiration date." J'aime ça, j'aime ça beaucoup.

  • Kids commenting about grownups and their toys. Amasing. It is not hard to notice comments from people that was not even alive or in diapers when this took place. Enjoy but geez, some of your comments are &#^$@

  • Sheer brilliance. But thats Michael Schenker.

  • i heard this when it was first on the airwaves in the u.s.a. [ early 80's] on metal mania on wdha , when eddie trunk was still doing the metal news! and it is still amazing!

  • Michael and I hung around a bit in 1985 or 84 in Newport Beach, CA. We would go out partying at places like Woodys Wharf and the Red Onion etc. At the time he was totally infatuated with the Nancy Wilson from Heart. Michael was intense in everything he did back then. We would get into fights occasionally at the bars he would comment how he wasn't going to use his has in a fight because of a possible injury that may prevent him from playing. Just a little history... Hope he is doing great.

    Steve

  • The Schenkmeister up there with the best of the best.

Uli Roth, Hendrix, Page, Blackmore, Rhoads, Slash, Iommi, EVH, Vai, Clapton, Moore, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Angus Young, Malcolm Young

There are lots of other greats (forgive me if I missed any) but for me Schenker ranks up there with these guys

  • ah shit, had my speakers up so loud the bass made speakers fall on eachother......

  • nowadays Rap is bullshit CRap

  • I wanna Gibson Flying V.

  • wow. its when you listen to things like this you realise how crappy music of today is. what with all this rap bollocks. what a shame this is considered 'uncool'

  • 神!神1神!

  • the best version yet

  • Thanks Alex for pointing this out!!

  • Awesome.. would love to see Schenker live.. I've got a cover version of this.. check it out..

  • @guitarater Love your very good work on the covers ;) but i think you made VanHalens Ain´t talk about a little "prettier" by take away eddie´s "error" at the beginning of the second round of that first riff, when he misses the riff i little bit and gave it it´s own personality....love that "miss" ;) Just a thought, love your work Guitarater!!!! I could never get close ;)

  • hombre, cortar el pelo, si lo haces que te quede un poco mejor que a Miguel, digo yo.

  • Classic Schenker. Thanks for uploading.

  • im 14 and i dont understand why there isnt music like this any more scorpions, UFO, MSG, neil young, black lips and others. i just dont get it.

Taken by force by the scorpions is the best.

  • @joshfontanella thats funny your the same age as he was when he did his first big gig i think, and he has been offered to play for Whitesnake, The Rolling Stones and even Aerosmith! he is absolutely the best!

  • @joshfontanella It's funny but I was 14 when I first got in to Michael Schenkers guitar playing when he was with UFO. The bands now don't have any talent as it's soon to be uncool if you can actually play well. 'The lunatics have taken over the asylum'!.

  • @joshfontanella I would say one of the reasons they dont have bands like this is because of the money, if a band is already getting paid to do what they have already been doing, they wouldent try to change anything for the audience/fans because they are just in it for the money, music today has no soul... and I hate to say this but this trend is not only happening in music but anywhere you go ppl with just be in for the money.

  • @Bojoe777NaBl Money was always a factor. The thing is in those days you could make a good living performing live and audiences really loved music and live show - now there is the internet and video games ect...but yeah I understand your point -

  • @joshfontanella

first...wow. you make me proud. There is still hope...

I was around your age when this stuff came out.

We had "disco"...then bands like mike's reminded the world what music was.

So....hold out hope. better yet....pick up a guitar

  • @joshfontanella You should listen to Led Zeppelin if you want really good vintage rock. They are the best band ever, by far!!

  • @coltsuperocean10 You need to check out some UFO

  • @kingofthedeep ..Ive seen them live years ago. Decent, but nothing that special.

  • @coltsuperocean10 Yeah right. They were smokin with Schenker

  • @joshfontanella Your generation need to bring this music back - DJ's are the new rockstars at the moment but hopefully that will pass along with the bedwetter music we have to endure haha - seriously I agree - have a listen to sails of Charon by Scorpions as well

  • @joshfontanella Hy mate, I'm 46 and I'm so sad for this.........

  • @joshfontanella Record companies ar eloosing money because the cd sales drop like crazy so the quality of the music has to be very low for them to sell! Thus we have less good music today! Amazing that you are 14 and saw that, you must have music in you! freetubemusic(dot)com

  • @joshfontanella Do you know "Pendragon"? Look for their new album "Pure" and listen to the guitars and music!

  • @joshfontanella Hey kid, you're right! I'm 45 and I feel the same about nowadays! But thanks to you and other young generation things are in good hands!

  • @joshfontanella Hey kid, you're right! I'm 45 and I feel the same about nowadays! But thanks to you and other young generation things are in good hands! I love this tune!

  • @joshfontanella I know! I'm 46 and I really miss this kind of music myself. And I'm happy that someone as young as you has an appreciation for REAL music :)

  • @joshfontanella I'm around your age and agree.we need more of these bands. We do have some good bands today in my opinion.but nearly all of them are metal. It seems like lead guitar in normal rock is dead.

  • @joshfontanella

    Uli and Achenker Forever!

  • @joshfontanella Try and listen to RUNNING WILD album Piles of Skulls . Also ACCEPT'S album Metal Heart .

    All the best .

  • @joshfontanella dire straits ! :)

  • And people say I should cut my strings :P

  • @PlasticCoatedCheese Guitar has to go with the hairdo...

  • @PlasticCoatedCheese - Right on man. His trings match his hair

  • @PlasticCoatedCheese People tell me to cut my wrists, not not strings... :P

  • Haha... Michael Schenker makes Hendrix, Uli Jon Roth, and I hate to admit it but Alex Lifeson look like novice's... Schenker is the Guitar God. Nuff said

  • @Bojoe777NaBl steady there alex lifeson!!!!!!

  • @MrJoe2112 XD XD XD XD XD XD XD

  • @Bojoe777NaBl I love Schenker & his music, it is great - but it's actually not very complex or cleverly constructed. Someone like Alan Holdsworth ( Alex Lifesons hero ) is on a different level altogether

  • Comment removed

  • @Bojoe777NaBl Haha...yeah OK....

  • One of the most under-acclaimed guitarists to ever grace the music world. Should be rated with the best.

  • I'm laughing myself off...greatest comment in Youtube's history..

    Amen to Mr. Schenker!!!

(But I also Enjoy listen to Guthrie Govan from time to time....)

  • This is why Schenker is a legend!

  • finally found the theme song for eddie trunk rocks, hell yeah

  • what do you mean and who is eddie trunk.

  • he's a latenight rock show host on the radio and he uses this as his theme song and i could never find out what the song was.

  • awesome, he didnt miss a note,,,

  • heavenly...

  • Before personal computers, before the widespread use of the internet, before cell phones, before cable TV, there was just pure rock. I miss those days so. What a great snapshot of that era!!

  • @Sentinel4truth AN TRULY AMAZING ERA FOR MUSIC ; NOT COMPARE ABLE TO NOW DAYS!!!

  • Michael is a master of masters on the guitar.

  • HaHa poses. It's all about sound with Schenker. Posture.

He's playing a 59 Gibby V. Give the master a break. Not standing up right. Please. That's the bitch/complaint. Jesus.....

I suppose you can do better in writing.

  • I got a hand posture for ya.

  • You don't know shit about guitar playing-it's pretty obvious your just a poser!

  • As far as you could get from guitar wanking !

    Good taste guitarist !

  • Classic :-)

  • Mike loves to play and is dedicated. Like alot of guitarists each has their own talents special and meant to be heard.

  • 髪、もとい神

  • このアルバムを始めて聞いた時はビビッた

  • Why did I sell my Flying V? :(

  • I saw a bug fly in his mouth and lay eggs!

  • The perfect Wedding song...ha,ha.. Just got invited but i don't thnk they would want this....I would.

  • @TheGoddessCaroline This will be playing at mine, the one thing I got out of my woman was this...

  • He really is a genius x]

  • I WANT THAT TONE!

  • Schenker's mastery of the melodic solo is 2nd to none. His definition of "tone" is often copied, never duplicated. A true artist for all time.

  • Michael Schenker is the best guitarist in the world.....

  • @LBjim have you heard of David Gilmour? :D

  • @malinblue whats your point. He sucks! My opinion.

  • @EUguitarRULE WHO SUCKS?

  • coolest guitar on the planet....everyone looks like a twat playing the fucker.....Gibson are clever..that is all.....

  • Schenker was clever at painting the V the way he did.

    Ying/Yang sort of.

He had been singing on that guitar for years.

  • MS is the most amazing guitarist i've ever heard Hands down, hes in my top 5 of favorite players ... I want that tone and feel but i can only dream of having it... lol

    1 of the best

  • To think schenker was shredding at 16-professionally! destiny, dude!

  • The master of the flying V !

When the Japanese called him GOD, they knew what they were talking about.

  • MS is just sick! No one was soloing like this during the early 80's, MS not only makes sentences but writes incredible storys with his V's. Unlike EVH who just makes sentences MS is just pure Shakespearean.

  • Queeeee fabuloso¡ Gracias por existir Michael¡

  • Schenker=God

  • The only player that can combine lightning speed with melody and feel like this is probably the late great Randy Rhoads. Other than Randy, MSG stands alone.

  • ネ申

  • This is a classic. I remember the first time that I heard him play (rock will never die) and hearing him solo. I was like "how come I've never heard of this dude before?!". He is a truly great player!

  • i still can't believe Gibson never have him a signature or anything like that

  • They would rather give a signature too Lenny Kravitz :S than MS

    really sad

  • Or to that poser of Zakk Wylde...

That little kid felt Rock n Roll... but Ozzy just depraved him

  • @SuspendedinShadows12 No, but Dean did, and the guitars are sweet!

  • schenker is god!

  • Shenker is not the fastest player in the world but he plays with passion and style. His melodies are awsome.

Its a shame he's not as famous as players like Slash, EVH or Zakk Wylde.

  • Slash is lower than Schenker, all da good guitar players can say you that.

If peoples only knows that Slash was taken in Guns'n'Roses 'cause he was "their last chance" (he've been refused in his official postulation on G'n'R) : They needed a guitarist and they took him just for the concert, and after Slash wanted to continue to play with them and they finally accept...

Well like you say, it's a shame he's not more famous than slash, who play, in my opinon, poorly

  • Yeah Schenker is infinitely better than Slash and Zakk Wylde. I mean it's not even close. They couldn't come up with a song like this or Into the Arena if their life depended on it.

  • Agreed

  • Come on man all the guitar greats love and respect Slash's playing.

Slash would be the first to tell ya MS blows him away and you can hear a lot of MS in SLash's playing esp in VR

  • Haha thats rich man!

You are saying the solos to November Rain have no emotion? If so, YOU will never understand emotion in music.

  • @Neraelion you've got to be kidding.

  • @tnc1221 i don't.

  • @Neraelion that's because you will be busy fucking your sister

  • @mmorrison69 Very clever and usefull comment. Now just stfu

  • You don't have to play fast to be a great player, that's all crap man. If the fastest guitarists were the or are the best Malsteen would've been surpass Carlos Santana and Hendrix by now. But you know what? He never will. He never will because it's all about feel and tone. And Michael Schenker has a great feel and tone to boot!

  • Ditto.

  • Awsome. Germany rocks

  • The strange think about Michael is that compared to Van Halen or R.Rhoads he is a little bit unknown...but he is surely hailed as a GOD. I agree.

  • He's a god.

  • Insane.

  • It takes a genious to come up with a song like this. Schenker is one of the best rock guitarists of the world

  • You know there are guitar players and then there is Michael Schenker!!..The man has emotion and a great tone that seperates him from a lot of his contemporaries. Pure genius.....

  • Michael Schenker the great.

  • the first minute is angelic, afterwards it slows down
