  • Plus we would also be "black listed".

  • Not all of us use soringas a method in the gaited world. For instance I am one of Canada's top Saddleseat riders and I have never, ever done anything to sore any of my horses, and they have gone on to become some of the best Saddleseat horses on the westcoast. Plus a horse that is sored will become lame, a horse that is lame will not go the way that anyone would want.

  • im wondering can you jump in western??

  • @nicoleandval132 yes you can, just not full courses. if you do a whole jumping pattern it'll be really bad for your horse's back

  • Just want to say that this is a very good video!! I ride English, but it's just personal preference. And I hope everyone knows that we are all equal as equestrians and that most English riders aren't "Stuck up and rich and Cruel", and that most Western riders aren't "ignorant' and act as stupid as the cowboys in all of the hollywood movies!

  • ITS ALL THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its both equally danguraus its all the same we are both all riding horses!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DOES IT MATTER! It's not called western riding. It's not called english riding. It's called HORSE riding! :)

    whether it's a pommel or a horn,

    crops or spurs,

    jump or barrel

    breeches or jeans

    english or western...

the point is that we love horses!

don't be proud of what type you ride (not that there is nothing to be proud of) be proud that you have the guts to get on a horse and call yourself an equestrian!!!!!! :)

  • @TheHypergabs Amen. <3

  • @ThatSoJamie Nowadays, you very well could! Used to be you'd have to extend the gaits a little more for hunters, but...

  • Quarter Horse... You'll always remember the ride.... Western <3

  • I don't know. English is faster and better in some ways, English is more natrual and relaxed! but english can feel there horses... and jump! But westerns can barrel.... hmmm

  • were all horsebackriders! WHO CARES! instead of thinking it as two insanely different things as just two different things of the same category! HORSEBACKRIDING!

  • very very well done video :) Glad to see someone finally putting cutting into their english vs western vid. I was starting to get sick of seeing nothing t barrel racing, reining, and western pleasure for the western events.

  • Englisch!!!!!

  • I'm not calling English riders sissies, cause I've ridden English with my horse Pogo before, and it was really harsh. I fell onto a jump and broke my back and my horses leg so I quit english, and began western. Western was amazing, and I'd prefer any English riders to try it at least.. The saddles are way more comfortable, and I feel I bond with my horse Tahoe better than I ever had.

  • and western wins by a million lengths ;)

  • ENGLISH IS NOT FOR SISSIES BITCH. HAVE YOU EVER FELL INTO A JUMP STANDARD GOTTEN BACK UP AND KEPT TRYING???? I HAVE AND IT HURTS LIKE HELL. DID I CRY? HELL NO. DID I REFUSE TO TRY AGAIN? NO. ENGLISH IS WAY BETTER !STOP CALLING ENGLISH PEOPLE SISSIES. you dont kno shit if you think that.

  • @katherine12rose yeah and you dont think western dont do that?? well let me tell you something they DO. and believe me they so stuff that some of you wouldnt dream of :P no hard feelings

  • @naturelover222 i kno western is hard. but some people on here seem to think that english is easy or for sissies and im here to defend my side :) i rode western for a year and took some pretty hard falls but ive been riding english for about 4 years now and kno that its been extremely intense since the time i started

  • @katherine12rose both are the samee but i prefer western. they are both difficult in there own ways :P

  • @katherine12rose english is not better. westrn is more fun, i think, but its not really better.... Have you ever ran barrels? Oh and holding on to a spining horse yeah that is freaking hard ive been rideing for like 5 or 6 years and i have a pretty good seat, and an exilent 2 point, and i was flung 3 feet from my moms reining horse when i asked him to spin. (witch they laughed about for like 3 weeks oh and heres the best part of that, they got it on camra... so i will never live it down *sigh* )

  • @1233Maya I kno western is fun and hard, i rode western for a couple years.but i do pefer english and i have to stand up against the things some people are saying about english riding

  • @katherine12rose Then stop talking trash 'bout us westerners. I MEAN GOLLY ITS ALL THE FREAKING SAME!!!

  • English is the way to go. its better on a horses back ( if fitted correctly) and its much more challenging and rewarding for me. not cruel. btw i have rode western for about a year. now i have been riding & showing english. English is my style :)

  • @katherine12rose Engish is not harder. It is crazy hard but so is westrn. I've jumped its really hard but the feeling of flying and depending on your horse to catch you, but i have also run barrels and spun a reining horse, kinda, holding on to a barrel horse is really hard and when me and my horse turn the last barrel for the first time in my live me and my horse became 1. the spining thing yeah um i was like this is kool omg crap stop it, plop. yeah i was slung about 3 feet. that is NOT easy

  • I like Western and English.... so I went for the Aussie Stock Saddle! XD

  • Why can't all riders get along? What is with all the arguing!? What are we going to do, start a war over something as stupid as an opinion? Everyone rides different and loves something else. That's what makes the sport interesting! Competing wouldn't be as fun if we were all competing in the same jump class or reining competition!

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore The english saddle have a design that mistrate the horse's back for anyone who has studied the mechanics of movement of the horse is well known that the system of English saddle exerts a pressure that usually leads to back problems, as well as how to hold the reins and head positions of the horses have been banned by the FEI, I coult talk longer about this, but usually, the english style rider is so strict and never open to understand so many things about riding and horses.

  • @LACARAMERA that is not true for most people who ridie english and if u knew as much as you said u did you would know that western saddles make the horses back curve and it heavyer than an english saddle and most horses perfer english saddles

  • @LACARAMERA and you think western saddles dont hurt horses. btw you dont kno shit about english. Horses actually PREFER english saddles. way to be a bitch

  • @LACARAMERA That is a very broad generalization, and it's completely incorrect. Who told you that last line of BS? And any improperly fitted saddle will cause back issues.

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Rodeo have its own rules and its true that for so many years rodeo sport was a mistrating animal activity, and its possible that today at day it could happens, but usualy the rules cahnge and animal mistrating its forbiden in rodeo too.

  • @LetsFlyOnceMore Well, let me explain all, that RODEO it's a very different sport than WESTERN STYLE RIDING, in Western style riding there are so many different categories, like Reining, Cutting, Western Pleasure, Trail etc etc, and as sport, its so different than Rodeo.

  • Both Are As Good As Each Other!!!! I Love Them Both

  • @CrazyWesternRider You haven't seen me ride b4, and dats means dont judge me cuz u don't even no me in real life

  • ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Zatinelife Sorry but how is English animal abuse ???? A horse would never do anything they didnt want to . A horse WOULDNT JUMP if it DIDNT WANT TO JUMP .Same goes for Dressage A horse wouldnt do it if it didnt want to. Same goes for ANYTHING . A horse would not accept a rider if they really didnt want them on their backs!

  • In my opinion, English is harder. Sure Western has barrel races and all that stuff, but it kind of reminds me of redneck stuff (no offense). English is very proper and much harder. I don't see Western jumping, cross country, polo, or dressage. It's easier is fall of English too. Also, English is in the Olympics, so therefore I believe it is better, harder, and English is not for sissies because I don't nearly see as much injuries in English than in Western.

  • @volleyballlibero1996

Table tennis is in the olympics also. just saying. There is western dressage. Alot of western riders make their money ranching and no one cares if you ride "proper" or not. Most western sports come from ranch chores. Like team roping, goat tying, team penning, cutting. They are all based off of the gruelling work cowboys had/have to do to make a living. No english is not for sissies, niether is western. HORSES are not for sissies. I ride both. And both have their

  • English style riding mistrate horses in so many ways, The most of the western riders search a good natural comunication with their horses.

LOVE WESTERN; LOVE REINING LOVE CUTTING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Personally English riding is harder than western,

    so western rider are sissies!

    English FTW

  • @Medley4Eva YOU are a sissie

  • @babyGxxx13 whats natural do u mean bare back

  • I ride both Saddleseat and Gymkhana. I love Riding English and Western saddles are SO much more comfier than an English flat saddle(They have absolutely NO padding) .:D

  • @samax999 I don't know, man... My dressage saddle is like a La-Z Boy and my friend's western performance saddle is a rock. But then my hunt saddle is a piece of crap cheap-o board to sit on! xD I have become spoiled with my dressage saddle; I didn't used to mind my hunt saddle as much.

  • @TheHorseLady1212 Haha, I rode in my friendds dressage saddle once. It was like sitting on a cloud. My saddleseat saddle is very comfy but it has like no padding; its basically like riding bareback. Now, my western saddle, woooh, I could sleep in that. :D

  • @Zatinelife english is not animal abuse if the horse didnt want 2 put its head in, jump, or run and jump, it wouldnt do it! i am english but i have nothing against western. my best friend is both and she loves them equally. i was a BRAT like some of yall, i wouldnt have a best friend. yall should just shut it and ride your horse.

  • Western is the best!

    English is animal abuse!

  • English is for sissies! >:)

Western all the way, baby! >:D

  • @TheViper016 apparently u are a clueless cunt. i ride english and im not a fucking sissie. and i have nothing against western riding.

  • I don't get why people call western riding sloppy. It's not at all...

  • Western!! U got my vote. End of dicussion.

  • to me dreesage is just nomal movements with a little twist in slow mo

  • i want to learn how to rein

  • how do western riders spin without getting dizzy?

  • @1237horse you do something called spotting. You just keep your eyes on one thing haha.

  • gressage does not look gracefull at all it looks like the horse is uncomfortable ( i know there not) just how they hold there head and flip there tail around ALOT

  • @350fordchick even thought i ride english i agree with you.

  • @1237horse THANK YOU finally somone see's from my point of veiw like english don't get me wrong is a diffficult sport! but reining ( western) compaired to dressage is SO much more gracefull

  • @350fordchick depends on opinion :)

  • @350fordchick It's all training, and believe me if it was negative for the horse it would have been under fire very quickly. The things performed in dressage are training that dates back to centuries ago, when they had horses perform things like this in battle as warhorses.

  • @350fordchick The tail flipping is like some absent minded tick they have. Like when you are sitting and you bounce your leg without realizing it. And it looks so uncomfortable because "modern dressage" is total crap :/ Classic dressage training is the way to go.

  • @TheHorseLady1212 I believe that the tail flipping i out of discomfort. its not normal to have a hore flipping its tail around like that. and most dressage people break there tails and set them to have a permanent flag. im very against dressage

  • @350fordchick Another nasty generalization. Who told you they break their horse's tails? That is completely false. They have very thorough vet examinations pre-competition, and any horse that has been purposefully put through something like a broken tail would be disqualified and the owner/trainer investigated. The only instances of tail setting I have ever witnessed with my eyes was at a gaited horse training facility. How a horse carries it's tail doesn't matter in dressage.

  • @TheHorseLady1212 ive seen the tail breaking im no idiot

  • @350fordchick I don't know which shows you've been going to, but i have never seen it. Why would you be going to a dressage show, anyway? I though you hated dressage.

  • @TheHorseLady1212 in my area there is only one indoor arena for miles and us barrel racers like to practice when its nice and drag. we showed up early for our club one day and i saw them taking the metal braces of the horses tail. and i witnessed them putting acids on the bottom of there hooves also!

  • @350fordchick That is called soring, and that is a method used in gaited horse shows. If you were to sore your horse for a dressage competition, there would be no way you could get through a vet examination and people would notice you right away and you would get blacklisted.

  • I ride both too! I also do gymkhanas in an english saddle. :o oh no.... :) It rocks and people justhave to deal with it.
