Doesn't it go onto the second fuel pump (High side) at 1:51 when the revs drop and more fuel comes out of the headers and the guy who started the motor steps back?
i have noticed these 8k HP nitro engines really throw a lot of fuel through the engine even when they are idling. I wonder what keeps them from hydraulicing on fire up?
some of them start em up on methanol and the rest fire them up at 2 pumps, and then they have a shutoff valve, they can ajust the return fuel when they are making burnout and just starting it up in the pitts ;)
Most of what you see is the vapor of still expanding nitro exhaust. Nitro burns so long that it's still expanding as it passes out the exhaust path . They're tuned specifically for each run. That tuning normally means packing as much air and fuel into the cylinders as the track will handle. It's a delicate balance between tremendous power output and a hydraulic'd, blown up motor.
you must have caught this video within a few hours of posting, because I had thought about what I had wrote and got up at 3 in the morning to change it. Thanks

..
As mentioned, they were only running one pump.
Same as only running one mag. They do not need, or use both for that.

They start them on Alcohol and then switch over to Nitromethane once the engine is running.

the fuel pumps got a shutoff valve, then they can regulate the fuel going into the engine. the rest of the fuel just return to the fuelline.

they acutally have 2 fuel pumps and when they start any warm up like this there only runin on 1
