  • The overall fundamentals are solid. She works out of a strong coil and uncoils rather cleanly. To say her grip is flawed is flawed analysis. Her grip is extreme... also nearly obsolete. But not flawed. Grips determine the spin/drive ratio at contact. The modern swing (and modern equipment) has evolved to a place where sufficient spin can be created with the eastern or semi-western grip. The full western is like jazz. No longer relevant, but still cool.

  • windshield wiper :)

  • das ist falsch der ball wird im steigen und nicht im fallen getroffen

  • ok here is my take on this. If your a beginner and anyone approaches you and tells you that this is how pros hit the ball thats ok but if they tell you the beginner to try and hit like this, it is not wise. Jus because she can do it does not mean its good for beginners.

  • she is good. That is all that matters

  • WTH is that?

  • DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

  • that's the dumbest shot! Who does that? No one i've ever seen? It sucks! That's not a sustainable technique and it makes her looked contorted rather than natural. I give it a 0/10.

  • vete a la verga con eso

  • it looked like she hit it from the back part of her racket instead of the front if you know what i mean

  • seriously WTF is wrong with your grip?????

  • @jeddahmesho Are you a beginner? It's called WESTERN.

  • Not impressed at all by this video. This girl's grip is totally ridiculous. I don't think even Nadal plays with such an extreme grip !! Come on !! And always remember that Roger Federer hits most of his forehands with a classic good old fashion eastern forehand grip !! The problem with videos like this one is that some beginners will look at it and will think "so that's the way I should hold my racket, cool."...Again,this girl's grip is ridiculous.

  • I'm over 40 years old and using the full western grip, never had any injuries, I can hit topspin or flat. She's using the hawaiin grip. Good job!

    Peter Luczak hits like that.

  • Closed stance...open stance is much better for court movement, hip motion, and core power.

  • it seems to me that she's holding a continemtal grip and is hitting a forehand with the backhand side of the racket. whatever it is, it's unsuitable for most players and make them prone to injury. i definitely won't teach a kid like that.

  • @yoshidasantokyo ITS A FULL WESTERN GRIP AND IS VERY EXTREME EVEN BY TODAYS STANDARDS

  • i know what that grip is its a Continental grip! forshore she picked that up by herself when she was a kid

  • i dont think i have ever seen a Pro with such an Extreem Grip!

  • I'm so confused right now. :S

Did she just not do a forehand or is she just stupid?

  • thats a really retarded grip... bad forhand

  • watching that grip that must have been one hell of a topspin. the head was almost dead facing the ground WOW..

  • Check out this search on youtube and I think you'll find Nadal's grip is closer to a semi-western than a full western.

Rafael Nadal's Forehand from the Front in Slow Motion. The grip is turned far more on a full western, as in this video.

  • Apparently Nadal has switched to more semi-western?? I would be interested in RESEARCH ON INJURIES these players have in the hitting arm. What I have found from using the western is it causes major torque on the elbow, especially with off-centre hits. It allows for high hits and heavy topspin, but I'd rather use the semi-western as a compromise between hitting flat or still having good topspin.

  • You have the right mechanics, but I hate the full western grip. You're going to wreck your shoulder and give yourself tendonitis. Roger Federer uses an eastern forehand and eastern backhand. That's good enough for me. I like Nadal's doublehanded backhand.

To me semi-western is as far as I would go. Full western is just not a natural motion, and the grip is weak.

  • @robertslistening Nadal and Djocko uses a full western grip; Youzny, belluci and many others also... A good coach let the player hits the way he fells more comfortable. It's not going to give any injurie, where did you read this kind of thing??? Actually eastern grips nowadays is more harmfull to the wrist than the western grip... and I do have scientifc sources...

  • definitely a forehand.. but the backside of her racquet is hitting the ball instead of the front... Pause it right before she contacts the ball.. All I see is knuckles... What's the reason for that?

  • If you are watching this video and are a beginner tennis player, I don't recommend you try to copy her. She is using a western grip, which is very awkward for beginners and you will probably get so frustrated you will quit tennis. No teaching pro would start you off with a grip this extreme.

  • @circuitdesign could you explain the differen grips to me and what is best for beginners and what is best for topspin?

  • @TheMakeupStudio101 There are really only 2 grips you need to know as a beginner: the continental grip and the semi-western. Use the semi-western for forehand topspin. Use the continental for serving, volleying and for the two-handed backhand (dominant hand). To know what these grips are, it is best to see a video demonstrating them. Trying to describe the different grips in words leads to confusion for most people.

  • @circuitdesign Thank you so much for helping me!!

  • @circuitdesign

Thumbs up to you. You really green don't even think of top spin. Starting from continental grip to feel the ball then switch to eastern grip with more top spin (and you can stick with eastern grip if you are happy with and I can't see anything wrong coz even RF plays with eastern grip forehand for most of the time) then try out western grip for extreme top spin or you want to experience how Djokovic play his forehand.

  • i dont know should i call it unorthodox or exxxxxxxxxtreme western...

  • how could someone like that play on grass????

  • she does not appear to be tracking the ball all the way to the racket. this will lead to inconsistency during a match. top players appear to be trying to laser the ball with their eye like the baddy in superman 2 . other than that very good indeed.

  • @intoxicologist the point of tracking the ball with your eyes is to keep the head steady, gives you something to focus on instead of wobbling your head. As long as the head is firm and still, theres no real reason to track the ball, some people prefer to keep an eye on the other side of the court to see where the other player is.

  • amazing
