Tough luck man. Anytime a deer is more than 10 or 15 yds away there's always a chance they will do this. Nothing you can do but roll the dice and let it fly. It seems to happen more to me when the deer is jumpy or "on edge".
@sonshinesmuscadines I've always been skeptical of shoot through netting. I just cannot image that it doesn't effect the arrow flight. My blind has it but I cannot bring myself to take the chance. I just unzip it and shoot through the opening. That way when I miss there's one less thing to blame it on. :)
@tazzytwos What are you talking about? Mikevan is correct in making that comment, they even teach you in hunter safety to NOT take a shot that you don't believe you can make. I am sorry if you spend all year shooting from 20 yards, you should not go out and attempt to make a 60 yard shot. It is just unethical, stick to the range you have been practicing with. Don't shoot and "hope" you get the deer. Shoot and "KNOW" you will get it. Big difference.
rule #1. dont take the shot if u cant make it. if all you can acurately make is a 10 yrd. shot. then only take a 10 yrd. shot. 1 shot 1 kill. dude you shot 3 feet over his back. common bro.
what about the hunters who eat what they kill and use every part of the animal? that is a reason you dont take into account
killing for trophies fair enough i think thats a waste but killing and using all of the animal as much as it can be i see no problem with and if they happen to enjoy it at the same time more power to them
Where is the "sportsman" ? To call yourself "sportsman" is an insult to the REAL sports player but then there is a book called Killing For Sports Inside The Minds of Serial killers by Pat Brown
Here is a quote from him.
A third type of serial killer is the Lust Killer. The lust killer is often driven to kill due to a sexual motivation. A fourth subgroup of serial killers is known as a Thrill Killer. A thrill killer takes lives because they enjoy the experience of killing.
A fifth sort of serial killers it the Power Seeker Killer, a person who enjoys having total control over the fate of their victim.
The "sexual motivation" I have heard of hunters say that killing animal is "better then sex" or its "turn on" to destroy life. So you can see the eerie similarity in the description serial killers and sports hunters both enjoy destroying life for self gratification and sports.
@DeliberateCruelty And Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian, so clearly all vegetarians are power hungry crazed, genocidal, socialists dictators right? Lets judge a entire group of people off of one person. Not a smart move, do you know how many sick twisted serial killers were vegans and vegetarian? Quite a few, your point proves nothing other then humans as a WHOLE are fucked up in the head, not just hunters.
The one i shot last year i spined it!...not on purpose, but it was nice it just for it to fall down on the ground and not run a good ways. The only time iv ever dropped a deer with a bow. They usually run a bit!
Same thing happen to me this morning. I'm still very pissed about it. Only a 6 pointer but still!
