The PAPI you see is different from the PAPI the pilot sees. It depends entirely on the angle of the camera, and since the pilot is so much higher, it is 2 whites

The red and white spilt beamed PAPI's are angled identical to the glideslope (which vary). So a 3 degree glideslope requires a 3 degree PAPI.

Also horizontally from the runway centreline, the PAPI's beyond 90 degrees fade from view.

@jreatonit - It wasn't a bad approach landing was excelent. About the PAPI you'll see the lights are 4 reds but at the height where the pilot was it can look like 2 reds and 2 whites it depends how high you're if you climb a hill around this airport well it was :( RIP KAI TAK it may look different.

why is this airport closed?

The airport was closed primarily due to 3 reasons ..1) ..it had started to run out of capacity especially during the 90's...2) .. noise-pollution concerns...3) .. the infamous checkerboard approach to runway-13 which was a safety issue for many years in spite of Kai-Tak's brilliant track-record (There've been accidents but very few when you analyze landings like these)
