Maybe I should rephrase that. Southern California is a black hole for anyone lower than the upper-middle class. It is a dry, hot, worn-out place where you cant walk two blocks without getting grit in your teeth and sand in your pants. I know so many people who want to leave, but the high cost of living prevents them from ever saving enough to even think of escape. I was one of the lucky ones; I had relatives in other states that provided support. Beverly Hills is the exception, not the rule.
