  • thumbs up for the SNES version being the best version of this game!

  • I like this game just for the simple fact that it's Turtles in Time. Not as good as original I agree but it's still awesome

  • Nice Nine Inch Nails t shirt

  • i so wanan download it

  • Please tell me when this game will come back I didnt had a chance to download it {:(

  • @PREZILLA2009 It's out now :-)

  • I have turtles in time. My story set up is different from the first prehistoric boss, My boss is Slash. and on the 3rd level shredder never appears. Also I have an extra level after that level where you for the boss throw enemies at the screen. Do I have a different version

  • @DJZBaddest You have the SNES version!

  • I hope they can make a follow up that will top the original arcade game.

If they can't then at least give us TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist instead.

  • They should try a new approach to TMNT games imho. Look at Arkham Asylum, took Batman made its own story, and its own version of the characters. I would love to see a TMNT that is not just a beat em up, but has some platforming and stealth elements. Maybe the beat em up with all characters on screen camera should be dumped for a third person melee combat like experience. I don't know. But remaking or just releasing more of the same isn't a good idea.

  • I grew up on the SNES version, and instead of the clayface boss there was Slash, the evil turtle from space from the animated series.

  • Actually the Clay face ripoff is actually the clay monster from the 2nd season of the classic 87 cartoon were Baxter summoned a clay creature from Shredder's modified helmet.

  • i agree with yah both

  • dont remake old video games, the true fans still have them anyways, fuck the new donkey kong, nba jam, and alterd beast, i have all the originals, way better

  • the original is the only one for me

  • Very neat and reasonable review . I am agree with you guys. Let me say my thought about remake of this game. I have Idea to be remarked in OPEN Bor project. But few things I like to see changed .

    1. Longer levels, the levels in oriignal SNES & Arcade version was too short (whole game was too short)

    2. More bosses: Bebop , Rocksteady, Dirtbag etc.

    3. Original soundtrack to be kept and untouched. (SNES or Arcade)

    4. More levels. If someone make remake let's be like expansion.

  • @XOneGameR For example: Two Technodrome levels, Two fights with Shredd (from original game & then few levels later like Super Shredder)

    05. Appearance of Casey Jones. I don't understand why in neither one of the old games he did't take part. He was one of my fav. side characters. (exp. Tournament Fighter

Basically this is the game that I want to see. I'ts no need to be called Turtles In Time. Just a new game based on levels on Turtles In Time and Original Arcade game, longer, and more levels .

  • I know alot of people dont like this game at all which i believe is due to nitpicking. Ya when you compare it to the original, it ain't as good. But the game compared to the way games are today, it actually isn't that bad. Think about it, how many games you see being made like this anymore? Not that often. Also, yea the music isn't as good as the original and I do wish they did have the original too but im sure thats due to copyright bullshit. Again though this is just my opinion.

  • The is NO EXCUSE for changing the boss music. If it was in all three editions of Turtles in Time (Arcade, Snes, and Genesis (which would be Hyperstone Heist)) THEN ADD IT INTO THE REMAKE. Sheesh I swear they mess up some of the most epic games just for some quick cash.

  • Out of all three versions of Turtles in Time that exists, I would much rather play the SNES version than the Arcade and Reshelled versions. The SNES version felt like it had far more content, refinement and polish.

  • Alright, So take this the wrong way.

I did just hear you say "Its unrealistic" ?

What part of Ninja Turtles is realistic..?

  • Alright, So take this the wrong way.

I did just hear you say "Its unrealistic" ?

What part of Ninja Turtles is realistic..?

  • They r both good.

  • I like the SNES version the best.

  • i just bought this game for 400 MSpoints and i personally think it was a good remake i have always loved the retro games of the 90's ans this i thought was a great feature to the xbox arcade

  • SNES is better than this, from the looks of it it skips the technodrome and the mud man is Slag in SNES so yeah I don't know I just like the older look it's nicer more colorful and theres no lighting.

  • It's so much easier to play through this game solo, which is unfortunate. It seems to be a much faster-paced game with even more players. Also, more pizza for yourself in case you need it. Best to go through survival mode alone.

  • gay

  • review more things guys i love the reviews you go into detail and and all. love it.

  • Excellent review guys.

  • In my opinion, the less colour, the better cos the original TMNT was much more dark and vilent than the later made cartoon series.. FYI the film was baed on the comics!

  • 4:46 I'm not sure what suprises me more, that Shredder's on Chat Roulette or that he's on it and doesn't have his cock out.

  • This game is the worst remake T_T they killed the spirit of the ninja turtles...

  • good thing i have the emulator os the snes to play this awesome game.

  • Unrealistic!! What kind of comment is that it's called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles dude. I love the arcade too but it's not any more realistic. lol.

  • well its 80% off right now so ill get it anyway

  • Nice review. I wouldn't buy this game normally, but considering it's only $2 today for Black Friday, it's probably worth it. I doubt I won't get my $2 worth out of it.

  • My biggest gripe is they skipped the whole Technodome!

You don't go back in time after SEWER SURFING!!!

    WTF?

I was looking forward to the elevator fight.

But yeah, TMNT IV was the best, same with Super Castlevania 4,

in terms of part fours and whatnot.

    XD

  • Even though this looks inferior to the original arcade game, I'd like to see them make a sequel to this with the same kinda gameplay with improvements, as well as new bosses like Groundchuck, Slash, Dirtbag, Pizza Face, Anthrax, Chrome Dome, Scumbug, Scratch, Super Rocksteady & Mighty Bebop, and Scale Tail, as well as Triceratons as regular enemies among the Foot Soldiers and Rock Soldiers.

  • @vgmaster9 > This is the most intellectual comment on here! We back you up 100% on the way, you friend, are a real turtles fan!

  • @EffnDan Eh, I wouldn't say I'm a huge Turtles fan (though I did do some research on some stuff about them), but I will say that I freakin love the arcade games!

  • @vgmaster9 I say my prayers every night hoping for this.

  • Comment removed

  • first, I thought Rocksteady and Bebopp were on the pirate ship in this game. Second, isn't Rocksteady and Bebopp here at this game at all??? And wont the turtles be in the Technodrome?

This maybe sucks because of that!!!

  • @movienaut whoever thumbs upped this is a fucking dumbass. Its comparing the Arcade version not the SNES version. Obviously you never made it very far in either game because you didn't notice how Neon Night Riders scrolls in the arcade compared to the SNES version.

  • @movienaut The game looked great until I noticed that there where huge differences between the SNES version and this one. I will play the SNES version any time over this version.

No Rocksteady and Bebopp, no Tecnodrome, Slash not in the prehistoric level...sorry won't buy it.

  • ill get that game for the ps3 if i got a ps3 and when ever the new tmnt game comes based on the new cgi tmnt cartoon ill get that 2

  • i have this for the ps3, it's the same so i feel i can comment, the lighting i agree is bad but the 3d is nice i had forgotten what the arcade version of this looked like i was compairing it to the snes version and was thinking they had more stuff wrong than they did glad i found this, i hate that they didnt get the original music like the theme song from the original series for the opening and i would have liked the original voices vs the ones from tmnt that they used, but over all i loves this

  • @gogeta69z i love the 3d i love that it has trophies and online play and you can play with 4 players finally at home and it's only 9.99, and at least it isnt that god aweful version of mk2 on the psn

  • would you please tell us what brand/model screen are you using?

  • I agree. It's not a bad game, but it could've been way much better with some unlockables or the abilitiy to play the original arcade game. But for 10 bucks I think it's ok, especially for people like me who never played the original.

  • well the hardest boss here is..

slash the turtle from the prehistoric level.

THAT GUY IS A LUNATIC! HARDER THAN SHREDDER!!

  • they skipped a few levels -__- from the orginal

  • I never played the arcade version of Turtles in Time, but I own the SNES version. After seeing u guys compare the Reshelled game to the arcade version, I have to say I'd prefer the SNES version instead of the arcade even though I haven't played the arcade version.

  • Can you buy this game ? Or is it only a download? Please help!

  • @Ishimira1 U can download this game for XBox 360. I'm not sure if it's available for download for PS3 kuz I only checked this out on my XBox.

  • Nice Rammstein poster!

  • i really liked the game plus am i the only one that thought normal mode was easier than easy mode?

  • About the Dark Levels. It's staying true to the comic where they were shadowed by the night. It's suppose to be dark but I honestly didn't find the darkness that bad as you guys kept going on about. Maybe your guys television contrast/brightness was low.

  • I hated that Ubisoft didn't get the music from the original. I beleive that they could of have some kind of agreement to Konami. Anyway, the game is good, but nooooot that good. I would have giving it a three in a half stars.

  • You know ubisoft fucked up REAL BAD when they threw out the music from the original turtles in time.

  • i played the demo and it just feels like why buy this game when i have and people can buy castle crashers for a little bit more.

  • reshelled is nowhere near as good as the original. they cut out a bunch of levels. and bosses. it kind of pissed me off.

  • I really wish they would have just ported the original game with online. But great review.

  • The red shirt guy, looks like !!!! Shaggy!!!!! Scooby doo where are youuUUUUU!!!!

scooby i need you, for play turtles in time re shelled go for fred and daphne for play 4 multiplayer! QUICKLY!!!

  • I liked the review, very objective and specific. Actually I got this on sale from Xbox Live deal of the week for 400MS. I'd say the game is worth the full $10, though.

As for the rating, I'd probably agree with 3/5, maybe 3.5/5. The original is still better in my book, as is most often the case. Fortunately we still have the TMNT '89 arcade port on XBLA to compensate for the classics, I guess.

  • dudes you are no real fans of the series ...i like they resheled it !!!!!!!! some people always have complains but dont create themselves

  • The comment about shredder and his webcam had me rolling xD But i agree with most people here, i always preferred the snes version and i still play it with co op but mostly i just stick with the 1989 tmnt game for xbla =)

  • good job showing what the game looks like. but you guys sound a little like those gossip shows sometimes....breathe.

    good stuff though..informative.

  • If you ask me this would have looked 10 times better if they did cel-shaded graphics like in the DBZ Budokai series. This just doesn't fit them imo.

  • where do u get dis

  • @insanepokemon I'm not sure if you can get it on ps3, I'm assuming you can....but it's available on xbox live arcade

  • not to bash on anyones opinion but is just me or dos every time a remake of a game come's out people automatically think "wow this is going to be shit" and only a select few think its good. of curse the remake is not going to be as grate as the original what do you expect a perfect remake? sorry but last time I checked this was reality not some fantasy world were unicorns live, rainbows are in the sky and all video game remakes are all perfect. sorry to be mean but thats what I think

  • Why in this version that Shredder sends them back in time from the sewers? What happened to hte technodrome?

  • @joeywomer you must be talking about the home version, the reshelled one is a remake of the arcade version not the home version.

  • @nakallo I know what version. Its just that I haven't beaten the arcade version so I didn't know. Sorry about that.

  • I fucking loved the SNES Turtles in Time!!

  • i dont see how the lighting was a problem???

  • i bought this game off of playstation network and it said its installed but icant find the game anywhere on my ps3 huge dissappointment wheres my game i paid for it i bought the fullgame of this game but its not showing it anywhere on my ps3 if its not for ps3 then wh ythe hell didnt they put that in the games description

  • Thanks, def not getting this crap now

  • All in all, I'm gonna say that it was a good attempt at a remake of the game, and it wasn't a failure, but it wasn't a complete success. The game ain't terrible as it is at least playable, but not as good as it's original. Many games are like that.

  • I would buy the classic one probably not this one not even for $5

  • I just downloaded this game 2day. I love it. I think it's way better than the next gen TMNT game. I'm an old-school gamer so i only look 4 the little things in beat em up style games. U get the most out of the gameplay when its 4 players. One thing they could've added were some interactions between the turtles like tag team specialty moves. It's definitely worth the money though. Will they remake the 1989 Arcade classic 2? hmmm, i wonder....... Nice review guys.

  • I got this instead of Noby Noby Boy, I don't completely regret it but it's only about an hour and there's no reason to play it afterward.

  • wow this brings back memories. good review. i know it's gonna be cheesy but i might throw 4.99 at it which is how much it is on psn.

  • I'm surprised you didn't mention the cruel absence of V-sync in both the XBOX and PS3 versions.... There is no V-sync and no option to turn it on.... It could have been easily fixed with an update but the version still shows 1.00 as far as I can tell. This is the kind of problem that can make a lot of people dismiss even a very good game, and when it's so-so... well you bet I'm not going to play it much. It's not something you can learn to ignore, it just tortures you the whole time...

  • its only 5 dollars now

  • i still think the original is the best

  • It looks good for 4.99 on sale! even the regular 10.00 price is still worth it. what did you expect? think about the time and money invested on this game for it to be sold for 10 dollars. I'm gonna buy it regardless of this review... good presentation though guys keep up the good work!

  • The best version is the SNES one, i wish they'll make an HD version of it, not a 3D one.

  • Don't bash the NES/SNES/Arcade versions, they are classics. OK yeah I see its a good review now.

  • these guys do nothing but fucking complain.. worst review ever... by far... im going else where to find if this game review

  • You guys didn't mention the change in music. I think it's blasphemy to change TMNT music from the original to the garbage they put in ReShelled.

  • @AsASymbol It's a rights issue. Even when Konami bundled Turtles in Time as an unlockable in TMNT3: Mutant Nigtmare they had to replace the music.

  • @Clickyable For a rights issue, it sure feels wrong.

  • I agree with the 2.5 score since I also felt frustrated by the change in gameplay mechanics (the grapples/throws were more difficult to trigger in the new version). I give the Ninja Turtles franchise 5 stars but give this game 2.5 stars.

  • wow...might be because you played it on xbox...the one on ps3 is not so bad..

  • @EffnDan: I seriously doubt them lowering the price had anything to do with this review.

  • Either way, wasn't it a spectacular reiew? The editing was one of our best yet, the title card cartoon was amazing and all in all the presentation of the video was down right great! Regadless on what you thought on the game or not, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and we as individual human beings did not like this remake what-so-ever. We're not saying NOBODY is allowed to like it, different strokes for different folks. Just saying a direct port of the arcade would have been better.

  • @EricEngland

Do you think the drop in price makes it more worth it? I haven't played the SNES version in so many years and honestly as I grew older and the style changed I just started to hate the turtles. I just got done with the demo and I have mixed feelings pretty much exactly like what you guys said. Is this remake worth $5 to you guys?

  • @EricEngland

who said they lowered the price because of this review?

  • @EricEngland "since" as in "afterwards" not "because of"

  • Oh, and a Ninja Turtles game is unrealistic? God forbid...

  • The game's lighting is a lot more artsistic in the new version. If you can't appreciate the fact that it's dark outside at NIGHT TIME then you're not going to enjoy any game. 2/5

  • No offense, but you really were too hard on this game, its a good port of the arcade version.

  • After thinking about this game, I felt that reshelled came down with the "Napoleon Dynamite" Problem. Even though the remake is good and the graphics and sound made it more like the original comics, some complained the game about them. Others complained that its not like the SNES game, though the remake is directly from the orginal arcade.

This is how the remake got into the love it or hate it situation.

  • You're being too harsh .. this game is cheap + it's not supposed to be realistic.

  • Hey guys, nice review. The train level and the neon night riders level have impressive designs, compared to the original arcade levels. But the rest of them are too dark.

  • I think you guys could be a bit more forgiving considering the game is only $10

  • well, they lowered the price to $10 since we did this review last summer, most likely because they realzied the game wasn't selling that well.

  • one of my favorite childhood games.

  • un realistic? They are teenage MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. Realism kind of went out the window there eh?

  • i dont like how they took out some levels... thats all i can say, and the fact that the graphics suck

  • all the things wrong with this game: cant flip, slide and attack on your back, the specials look pathetic compared to the original arcade they cut down alot of moves that made the game what it was plus the turtles dont have funny animations that they do when they stand still this game was stripped of its coolness for graphics which is gay and is being done with most games nowadays

  • Look I played the original "turtles in time" tons of times when I was a kid. You cant commpare what it was before 2 what it is now. It's called "reshelled" for a reason. Honestly my brother compared the game 2 the original too but the thing is it's not suppose to be exactly the game if it was the original wouldn't be a classic. if you guys are so upset about how horribly they remade this game and yearn for the golden years, there is a simple solution, go get yourself a SNES and play the original

  • i'm gonna download this on ps3.only dissapointment is the music.snes and arcade is far superior

  • i actually find it a pretty damn good game for $9.99.

  • nicely done guys

  • Good review. Here are my thoughts on the game:

    Good -

-The gameplay is mainly still intact, and the hit detection is better than it was on the SNES.

    -The four-player support.

    -Level design is pretty good.

    -All bosses still intact.

    Bad -

-The graphics are horrible. Lighting is terrible in most spots, and you can barely see what's going on. Turtles are also hard to distinguish.

-Too much is going on the screen at once, especially in four-player mode.

-The music is pretty much nonexistant.

  • This was the best review on the game I've seen. Great job guys. What really made it good was the window showing the old in comparison to the new.

  • Great game..Had a Lot of fun playing it and thanks to Sony for lowering the price to $4.99...

  • some cames should NOT be remade, you want to bring back the game FUCKING KEEP THE ORIGINAL

  • i have to defend this even though i only played the demo these guys are ripping on this game way too much its a REMAKE for a reason if they made a new game completely i could understand them bringing all the points up they did the over crowding and lighting are really the only points that should've been brought up Although the lighting i think was more realistic the first level is 3 in the morning so duh its dark if they made more room to move and if they worked on voice acting it would be great

  • wtf did they take out tecnodrome LEVEL?

  • This is actually a remake of the ARCADE verson. The Version you are thinking of was the SNES (super nintendo) version and that one had some extra levels for the home consol (that was a port of the original arcade back in 1992)

  • :O still cool tho.

    BWIIGGGGAPPLLE, 3 am

  • Is this game's 4-player mode exclusive only through online multiplayer? Or can the 4-player option be initiated via multi-tap?

  • If you have 4 controllers, then yes it supports local multiplayer.

  • Worth buying on XBLA for the nostalgia.

    TMNT is ftw.

  • you think thats fast, what about ninja gaiden

  • LMAO.... UN-REALISTIC..... turtles. need i say more

  • You aren't even consistent in your review, you say the neo night rider level looks good then you say the colors are bad and you can't tell whats going on because the road is purple, and serious you complain about difficulty of an arcade beatemup? as far as not being able to tell where you are, they put a special function for specail people like you two in the game, hit left trigger and it will color coordinate your stupid ass so that you can SEE yourself get the shit kicked out of you. noobs.

  • i beat the game on normal, it was realy easy and short, it took less then an hour

  • well go achievement / trophy hunting, one of em is defeating the story using all 4 turtles.

  • Ok I think this remake was great.I have no problem with the lighting at all.The graphics are great and it is definitly a worthy re make to one of the best SNES games ever made.

  • You mean Arcade. This is the remake of the arcade, not SNES...

  • You're giving this one an advantage by comparing it to the original arcade! The SNES port of this game is far superior to any other version, regardless of the number of players.

As someone still in love with TMNT-IV, I was pretty let down when the demo didn't meet the excitement I had during development. IMHO, WAY too much has changed for it to be reminiscent of the original.

Good review! Work on your audio ;-)

  • Only serious problem with the SNES version is that the AI was retarded compared to the Arcade...Even the Gensis TMNT game shared similar bosses that has smarter harder Ai. Snes one was pretty though.

  • MY TOE MY TOE

  • The review was right on. I haven't played re-shelled, but a lot of newer games have similar lighting problems. I can't see shit!

  • Sweet review, I've been wanting to get this game

  • I agree with the dude in red, it's a fun game but I always lose my self when I play with three other people, cause everything is cramp on screen until you get to a boss. I would give the game 3.5 I wished they allow you to switch to original graphics like Super Street Fighter II turbo HD or have levels from TMNT IV: Turtles in Time to extend the game.

  • I cant find it on stores,is this only selled on the PS Store or the Xbox live?

  • That's correct. It can only be downloaded live via each consol's "live" network.

  • FUCK!

How the heck am i supposed to get it now?

Man that sucks major monkey balls i really wanted this game.

  • nice can you get as many continues as you want ????

  • Your review is great, as well as the "Nine Inch Nails" T-shirt.

  • very cool review

  • Did you guys use the word 'realistic' in a game that includes 4 walking talking ninjitsu trained turtles?.......Am I the only one seeing the irony in all this?

  • regardless of whether we did or not, good review eh! Especially that art work at the beginning, that was amazing, eh?

  • I found it a little harsh but overly true but i still enjoy the game. I might have given it anywhere between 3/5 to 3.5/5.

    A good review ^_^

  • lol

  • So does this game on the XBLA support multiplayer co-op gameplay over xbox live?

  • completely agreed with everything you guys said. the boss fights were the best improvement to me though. they were done pretty well with the original but they made them alot harder. i was able to record a full game on hard with all 4 turtles and its very hard to tell whats going on. it was still very very fun. the locator button helps alittle but by the time you see where you are you are getting the crap beat out of you. i tried getting a hardcore 4 turtle game going but people drop too early.

  • yeah i agree too i was excited thinking that the XBLA had a good game come in personally i really dont like any of the xbla but i am waiting for serious sam hd that should be good

  • I'd be better off playing Turtles in Time on SNES and Hyperstone Heist on Genesis.

  • A lot of the levels look much better in the SNES Version... i still own the old one so i think i´ll keep my money.

  • Pretty awesome review. You made a lot of good points and to be honest I rather play the Turtles in Time on my SNES. That's just my opinion.

  • I was going to download this game, but after playing the demo I was dissapointed. What caused me to not buy this, was the cheesy explosions the foot soldiers made when you killed them. In the original game, they fell to the ground, the body flashed and blew up, which was cool. The foot soldiers in the remake dont fall down, they just blow up where they stand, and these stupid gears fly out everywhere, that are too big for their bodies. Atleast show different pieces flying, and not just gears.

  • I would have liked it a lot if the animators would have designed the turtles' eyes with their cartoon pupils, I find them more appealing that way instead of their eyes being completely white, it makes them look evil...

  • Agreed. I *HATE* the fact that Turtles stuff now doesn't include their pupils. What the hell is up with that?

  • It's direct reference to the original comics which didn't include pupils in the eyes.

  • Finally some guys who know what they are talking about. Love the comparison, and the points you guys made. Excellent review...I am a bit on the fence about the game, myself. I thought the demo was alright, just not sure if its worth $10. My girlfriend and I love co-op games, so maybe that will sway my opinion a bit.

  • Oh Yeah there is nothing i hate in this reveiw Details and right to the point.

  • Looks like Reshell have Light and Color Problem

  • wait i have the original on the snes i never remember the super turtle and wolf on the boat or the clay man ??????

  • The original version was actually released in arcades, and reshelled version is a remake of that one. The SNES one you are talking about was the home consol port of the arcade game which had added levels and charachters. including the technodrome level, slash in level 5, rat king in level 3 and bebop and rocksteady on the pirate ship instead of tokka and rhazar.

  • great review i want to buy this in the ps3

  • I kinda make the screen on my TV brighter if I can't see sh*t in the Dark.

  • Great review ya'll !!!!

  • Psst. The internet was around in 1990. But, it was more text than graphical as we see today.

  • I love the Turtles! I have such good memories of this game! I love the shots of the different games and your illustration! I think you could be a great animator!

    - TAE

  • Ubisoft changing the music is another thing that turned me off of this game. I mean AT LEAST keep the boss music from the original that was classic
