  • when you have a weedy lake.. try weedless hooks.. but use them to go down into the weeds deep.... I like to use them with gummy worms... YES THE Candy kind :D

  • @Moe7133 its motion is somewhat like that.. lots of fun ....

  • @Moe7133 its motion is somewhat like that.. lots of fun

  • u can't make kitchen jokes when a woman fishes better than u do.. lol

  • Nice fish. I have a question, how do you deal with weeds while using other lures that sink, i could see that there were a lot of weeds in that lake. Is there a way to solve that problem, or do I just have to not use sinking lures?

  • IF YOU LIVE IN MISSOURI, GO TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS AT THE BAGNELL DAM!!! THE WHITE BASS, STRIPED BASS, AND THOSE HYBRIDS GO CRAZY!!! ALSO TRY MINNOWS, THEY WORK GREAT THERE TOO!!!! JUST CAST TOWARDS THE DAM!!!! But dont go past the line!! The game board will give you a ticket for 150 dollars and take your fish. They have Channel cat, Blue Cat, Bullhead Cat, Flathead Cat, Gar, Alligator Gar, BIG BLUEGILL!!, White Bass, and Striped Bass!! Walk the dog!!

  • Whent fishing today an used the 4.5 inch Zaragoza spooker shad and caught a 6-7 pounder.

  • Is that the one knocker version of the spook? Or a puppy or Jr. Spook, cuz I noticed a consistent rattling sound throughout the video

  • @buggyblah I was using just a regular Zara Spook but I have had just as much success with the smaller versions and prefer them in some closer to shore area's where I don't like over throwing the shorelines :D I tend to have a far heavier cast when Im using the regular Spook.

  • @mirrorangel1 I haven't tried the regular one yet, I have the one knocker spook, same size as the regular spook, but has one lil pellet in there that creates sound, only had it for 1 day and loving it!

  • @buggyblah hmm... (sorry when I said regular I meant the larger size) im not sure if were on the same page.. I think were referring to the same bait actually, and yes it should have a small pellet in it to make the rattle, the fish just eat them up... thats my favorite one. I actually think its easier to learn to walk the dog on the bigger bait and then go downsized once you have mastered the technique.

  • @mirrorangel1 Yeah I agree, and the one with 3 treble hooks?

  • @buggyblah yes you have the right bait.. have fun catching all of the fish now :D but remember good pliers so you can still get those fish back in the water :) its always fun catching them again and again.. they don't seem to mind... they LOVE THIS BAIT!!!!

  • @mirrorangel1 yeah, I have 3 sizes for the spook just to give some variety haha, and yeah, just gotta give a good release and they'll bite again, definitely favorite topwater lure

  • Hey forbush1173: Conversely, I starting using the Zara Spook today and started "walking the Dog" with it. I had one of the best Days ever fishing. In two short hours I caught three Largies and one Calico Bass. You need to take the time to learn the technique of "walking the dog". Happy Fishing!

  • @bassimmage WTG!!!! is it not exciting fishing with the Zara got to love a great day fishing with it... Hope you have many many more.... and believe me YOU WILL!!!!! It's definitely worth the time to take to learn the technique... glad you did. Happy Fishing to you too!

  • Hey 3bay123: Have you got anything nice to say? Can't you just enjoy the moment?

  • Haaaaaaa BobLee actually I dont have that boat anymore it belongs to the ex.. got rid of the 18 1/2 foot champion that I had too.. .now I have a 31 foot SunRunner and will do the zodiac for getting close to the shore :D

  • +1 for catch and release !!

    greetings from greece !

  • its all about lunker punkers

  • What State is this

  • @3bay123 actually im in Canada in the province of Ontario

  • If you pause it or have a wide, more suttle zig zag, and use a damn baitcaster. Not a spinnig rod. Not to be negative but i would get a newer Bass Boat and not use a old fish and ski.

  • @BobLeeSwagger01 actually I have a 18'6 Champion Bass Boat but using the small boat in some of the area's that we go to has no impact other then the cost of fuel :D so once in a while we switch them up, but thanks for the advice and Im not sure how many times the fish care where or what I fish in... but I know that I personally do prefer the bass boat once in a while :)

  • I go fishing in an about 15 acre pond oftenly the water is crystal clear with a sand bottom and about 6 feet deep and there is hydra like in this video on top and about a foot under the water across the whole pond any tips on colors and techniques? Thanks,

  • @canttouchmymopar I would look to see if you can find a baby bass color lure. You should be able to also find this at a local tackle shop... (Color is almost a light green/grey) ... try a couple sizes .. but I think you will find that you will have success with any of them... use a slow technique over the hydra.. the slower the better.. when you get near the edges.. increase your speed slightly.. you will find alot of the times the chase is on... good luck.. happy fishin. :D

  • @canttouchmymopar Take a small boat and a rake and rake about a 6 to 10 foot circle in the hydra, then rake a lane to the bank that is about 3 to 5 feet wide to the bank where you fish. Make sure its big enough to cast down and not get hung on the sides. Then the bass should be easier to catch.

  • @canttouchmymopar Most of the time the best advise you will get is from the local tackle shop. They know whats happening at the time with the bugs etc in the area..and usually you can find that they know exactly the colors that work best on the water around you. My preference is and always has been the baby bass color though "D

  • you are supposed to pause and let the bait sit there every little bit...i guarante you will catch more fish if you try it

  • i bought a zaraspook last year and caught maybe one fish soo i stopped buying them i stick to a buzz bait or top water frogs

or the tiny torpedos the work great

  • i bought a zaraspook last year and caught maybe one fish soo i stopped buying them i stick to a buzz bait or top water frogs

  • nice job! ordered one of thos off bass pro shops! Great video

  • @hermy727 Thank you... Good luck with them.. enjoy. If you have any problems.. email me

  • @mirrorangel1 k thanks

  • What lake are you guys on? just wondering because the waters so clear.

  • @forforman the lake is Lake Kashwakamak in Ontario Canada and yes it is crystal clear.

  • great video, those Zara Spooks are great lures.

  • @EGOTTLIEB12 Thank you ... Yes they are.. definitely work spending some time with them to get the action down and catching amazing fish

  • Enjoyed watching your video very much , thanks for sharing , ......these stickbaits are one of my favourites for summer topwater piking here in Germany(most likely homemade knock-offs) , ......if fish don't respond well to pure topwater lures , I also like plugs with a topwater plus a diving action like "Heddon's Lucky13" , "Luhr Jensen Bass Oreno" or my homemade "Whirlygig"(you may check my video channel for this one) , ......these often bring in the goodies as well . Greetz , 61diemai

  • @61diemai Thank you for your nice comments :D greatly appreciated!

I too love stickbaits.. I checked out your video channel .. .well done.. maybe it is worth looking into spending some time and making some for the local anglers

    thanks again :)

  • There are many types of top water baits that have the same type of motions that you will find with the zaraspook / zara puppy / superspook baits these baits will move with a side to side tug motion that fish just love to chase. They take time to practice with but once you get the motion down it makes no difference which bait you use they will all be effective for a successful day on the water.

  • I can only sea fishing and cann fish in fresh water. Too bad it looks very fun

  • @coupepower1990 that is too bad that you are not able to spend time to fish with one, I think you would really enjoy it. I think half the fun is actually using the lure .. :) hopefully one day you will get the opportunity to fish fresh water and if you do.. remember to get yourself one of them and have some fun :D

  • great video... the zara spook and the the super spook are great but take much pratice to perfect

  • @CNeith84420 great bait that does require practice.. but if you take it slow and watch the bait and how it moves you will find that you will catch on fairly quickly. Its movements can be copied with a slower technique. Dont be discouraged, it doesnt take as long as you think to catch onto this bait before you will be seeing some of the best top water action you can experience.

  • Where is this? Looks like a place I fish...Buckhorn?

  • @MuskieJer No actually just south of Bon Echo Provincial Park.. but I had parents that use to have property on Buckhorn and we spent 11 years on that lake. It definitely is very much like it but the water is somewhat clearer.

  • Walmart but i suggest if you have one in your area an Academy Sports they have isle after isle of any lure you can need ... anther thing i wanna point out is her husbands breathing ... does he have heart problems or something lol ?

  • sweet i make a trip up to bass pro about twice a month this is on the top of my lure list thanks a bunch and nice catch's

  • where did you buy that lure

  • @MultiGlock40 If you go to any big sporting goods store you will find them.. I dont like promoting one over the other.. ..so I would suggest heading to the big box ones... however, if your not in the area of any..go into your local tackle store and ask them to order you one if they dont have any.. they should know what they are.. ask for zaraspooks or go online and google and purchase one there also.

  • @tflinn22 I tired to show different angles of using the zara spook it was very difficult in only one shot to land the fish I also used a couple different zaras..due to the fact that I had broken them during the day and the object of the video was to show the technique of how to walk the dog and not necessarily the catch of the fish... I used the slow motion shot.. hope that explains it. Yes you also can use different kinds of zara's with hooks and also different size zara's

  • The key thing about walkin the dog is slacked line, thts wht helps me, if the line is taut it wont have the best motion

  • Def a great pike lure.

  • nice job! good fishing.

  • @bluesky8921 Thank you!

  • I cant walk the dog with my spinning reels!!! I try and i cant get it...Im really good at it with my Baitcasters tough for omse reason..LOL...Spooks are my favorite lure to fish!!!

  • @2066241 I actually have problems with my baitcaster and im going to work on it this year.. I find my spinning reels way easier.. hmm guess I should work harder at it..

  • @mirrorangel1 I have been trying to get it down for 2 years.LOL....Im going to try even harder this year to get it!!Maybe it is just the posistion of my hand i can do it with my fist not as clinched with a baitcaster as to spinning combo

  • Nice. I fish them a lot slower, I find I get less missed hits that way. Basically, I pop them about 4 or 5 times, then pause, which is often when I get a strike.

  • @Freshwaterphil

I try both ways depending on the patterns of the weather and my mood.. lol

sometimes I fish them slower but if the bite is not working them the quicker motion seems to stir them up to want them to chase.. guess it depends on the day and like I said ... mY MOOD.. :)

  • @SK3L3FRI3ND

I will take that as a compliment.. .Thank you :)

  • HAHAHA

No Not just guys :) it takes practise and it doesnt discriminate :D

  • My walk the dog sucks.. Lol

  • @zxvb12345able1

Thank you, just lots of practice.. but one you get it.. I promise it will work over and over take it slow guys seem to want to pull it across the water that wont work it takes a slower motion .. everyday fishing is a good one.. even if your dont catch fish :)

  • @mirrorangel1 Oh, so just guys huh? Lol

  • Great vid, always good to see more women fishing. You "walk the dog" perfectly too. Hope you have more fishing days like the one you had in this video.

  • @66SiK Thanks very much... Oh Ive had many many days like that :D

  • That's right, you guys would LOVE me. I fish WAY more than my honey. I often go fishing by myself and am the only female at the jetty surrounded by a bunch of guys whose ladies keep calling them on the phone! lol.

  • @BasAndLokes You go Girl.. lots of us out there.. and if the boys asked more there would be even more :)

  • It's really great to see a nice video with another lady fisho. Great video. Nice fish.

  • @BasAndLokes thanks for the vote of confidence. .Greatly appreciated

I wish more men would encourage the women in their lives to at least go out and try .. but instead there just to afraid to spend the time and patience to teach her. But boys ... once you do she might just get hooked and you will fish way more then you ever thought you could... :P

  • @BasAndLokes Thanks I appreciate the support ... :D

  • The technique is actually to have the motion of a side to side small tug. It floats on the water so it is not a sinking bait already on the top of the water

  • do u have to jig it or do u just rell it in?

  • nice video i use a spook over some weed beds in a strip pit by my house and cought 3 over five pounds in mid spring cant wait for it this year fills like its been to long im ready i just got a 6inch chrom superspook it should slay them the state record is 12' and some onces here and i seen one in it that could be changing it

  • tyvm

  • @MustafaBabar fire tiger is my favorite, i actually perfer the zara puppy whih is a 3 inch version but the spook works fine. i found out that the slower is usually better and this took me lots of practice and pacienc but if you get a missed strike, try not to set the hook and keep a steady retrieve. good luck!

  • is this baptiste lake cause thats my all time favoite lake evar!!

  • no actually its not

its a lake north of Belleville Ontario

    called Kashwakamak

  • thanks do you live near whitby or ajax and how long would it take from there. Thanks

  • if you continue east to belleville then north of 7 you will find it south of bon echo park

  • From Ajax approx 1 3/4 hours

  • I like that color but I like the baby bass/light color the best at least for our water

  • nice catch! zaraspook is one of my favourite top water lure too. i catch peacock bass, snake head, saratoga and few other freshwater species with it! great lure.

  • Mine too I really like this lure. Once you get the hang of it I think most will put it in as a preferred lure in their tackle box

  • thats true. zaraspook is a good choice! i salute you lady angler! tight lines always!

  • Comment removed

  • didn't you drop the pliers in the water?

  • Shhh...LOL

  • yeah I know I watch youtube too much but that fish was a beautie. btw can I catch panfish with a topwater ?

  • I probably would use one of my other favorite techniques..and this is truly an honest one --- gummy worms... panfish LOVE them and kids love fishing with them... dont waste time with top water baits on little guys..

  • Nice bass and great lure. But that's a Super Spook, not a Zara Spook. How do I know???? I HAVE ONE ALSO!!! :)

  • do u like hula poppers i love them great for bass and jitterbugs

  • Yes...I.love.the....Rebel...PopR.

    .they..are.absolute.best...my.#1.Favorite.

    baby.bass.color.will.outshine.them.all.

    same.action...but.results.are.with.this.

    popper

  • i like zara puppies better. i had a 30+ muskie on one but it sliced off. cool video!

  • I looove the puppies.. never had much luck on the bigger spook. Almost like a "baby torpedo" vs a "tiny torpedo"... I like the tiny (not "teeny") torpedos..

  • when i ust the tiny torpedoes i can never get the blade to turn.

  • practice.lots.of.practice

  • lol 3-4 pounder

    more like 1.5

  • Does the lake have Smallmouth bass and is there alot of them there?

  • Were is this lake the water is crystal clear looks like a great fishing place

  • sounds like theres some poppers in there

  • just using zara spook although I love using poppers since they work just as well, nothings better then to see a big old pike come out of the water with a Zara in its mouth

  • more shallow! 5-10! i am the spook master try chug bug too its better sometimes

  • i had a giant pike hit a super spook

  • Just without Steel line?

i hope that works too ;)

  • A very basic lure that is very affective. I love it! Great lure!

  • Mine.too!!!

  • can you eat bass?

  • lots do, I personally dont... since I love fishing for them and would rather try and catch them when they get bigger :D

  • I've used this bait doesn't produce much only 1 strike but didn't hook it I caught more on rapala skitterpop

  • Your not using it properly, keep trying to use it... once you get it to work properly I think you might be back on here saying that you changed your mind.

  • I.LOVE.THEM!!!

    Ontario.Canada

  • One of my favourite topwater baits, have the exact same size and colour in my box. Great lure and nice fish too!!

  • I have that exact same bait and i was fishing from shore in Minnesota [ May 30th] and caught four bass on the zara spook and one on a popper.

  • I use a black and white jointed rapala fished on top. works just as well.

  • i love the zara spook that is the best lure ever i am amazing with it i will get some video up for u

  • What lake was that???

  • Canadian.Lake..In.Ontario

    Kashwakamak..Northern.Ontario

  • you should add some stops into the motion, fish usually hit the lure when it stops. nice bass!

  • hohoho.. i still miss the part that u throw ur tools in the pool.. is funny.. ^_^

  • LOL that was a pretty big POOL :D

  • i am a little fisher man and i wanted to know if Zara Spooks would be good on lac das mille lac? and your video was good to.

  • yes. forsure.

  • you are the perfect woman! any woman that know walk the dog with a spook is my kinda girl!!!! amaing

  • Awe..thank..you.

  • good video but from 3:45 to 3:52 you can hear the guy breathing. god that's annoying.

  • perfect walk the dog tecnique!! good job

  • Thank you very much...practice... lots of practice

  • why not just use a jitterbug?

  • We do use them but seems to be more effective on this water with the zara

  • Nice Bass you caught

  • Thank you.. the lake is full of them.

  • I use 17lb mono witha palomar not...also split ring helps on spooks.

Btw. this same video is available as a blooper were she tosses the pliers in the drink.

  • LOL was actually doing this video when I lost my head...that was the outtake your talking about...rofl

  • where is this

  • see above Ontario Canada

  • are you using braided, or regular mono?

  • cool video. i use a lot of zara spooks and other kinds of heddon lures and they are some the best for the smallmouth fishing in my area. once you get that walk the dog down it seems hard for the bass to resist that lure. my personal favorite is the zara puppy bullfrog pattern. heddon torpedoes are also some awesome lures.

  • torpedoes are great I got one last week and in my pond I caught my first 9lb bass

  • good deal. i think my biggest bass off of a torpedoe is a 4lb smally. i love the vicious strikes that you get with them lol, it's almost better than the catch itself

  • how is a torpedo suppose to be used???

  • want i like to do with a torpedoe is start with a little bit of slack in the line, point the rod tip low toward the lure and use a twitch twitch pause retreive and it moves along kinda like a popper but instead of a popping sound the blade on the torpedoe will kick up water and cause commotion that gets the fishes attention. thats just what works for me the best. you just gotta adjust the length of your pause and how many times you twitch before pausing and let the fish tell you what works best

  • thanks man...... cant wait to try it this weekend!!!

  • let me know if it does u any good

  • streator08 i didn't even get a single bite today(Saturday)!!! didn't see a single fish!!! i'll try again in the spring!!!

  • yeah the water might be too cool now to be getting the bass of the top. 60+ degree water is your best bet for topwater fishing and most water now is probably around 50 degrees. where are you fishing at anyways

  • hell yeah where do u live i wanna fish in your pond lol

  • great great great!!!!! just started fishing again and thats what i use. lets hope i can learn to Walk the Dog a little better.

  • Thank you.. hope you get back out and catch alot of fish.

  • to get the walk the dog to work it takes a little bit of slack line and a couple easy twitches of the rod to get it going

  • Just tried that bait.... it worked...

and I actually didnt try pulling it across my pond.. thanks for the info

  • i love the zara spook jr i use jus bout every day on my neighboorhood pond. to answer your question florida fisher. i take off the factory hooks n put on sum red gamagatzus also you want to use a delayed hook set when fishing with the zara spook or the spook jr. also you must have the right drag setting not to tight and not to lose. also dont try n horse you fish in. trying to horse a big one in will result n a pull off. hopes these tips will help ya out on your strike to catch ration

  • what size hooks do the spook jr's have???

  • i dont know why but whenever i get a fishing on the zara spook jr half of the fish always come off like today i was fishing in the local pong and i got a good hookup couldnt see to well but maybe a 5 or 6 pounder i set the hook but it still came off any tips on useing different hooks or anything

  • by the way good vid

  • Hey Florida,

Its so hard because I really have had better success with factory shipped versus putting on new hooks... maybe just a little slower on the retrieve?

  • Didn't she drop pliers in the lake before?

  • Shh...ok yes, but all of us have the right to one mistake ... And that was mine :P

  • i recommend jitter bugs i catch alot of bass with them

  • In your local tackle shop they should have them. If not look online for or heddon zara spooks at BassProshops google and you will find it.

  • Where can i buy one of these baits? and for how much?

  • BaSS pRO sHOP APPRO $6-8.00

  • i like the green ones

  • great job and video! im gonna go to walmart and buy some lures for the morning, doing some early bass fishin but i needed to know how to use some of them, especially the zaraspook

  • truly an easy lure to use. just be patient and remember when you cast this out.. it goes quite a ways.. Watch for Tree Fish

  • You showed an original spook on your rod and then a picture of a puppy. Which were you using? Second, if you are using monofilament and grabbing the line that way, you are one head shake away from losing your $5 lure.

  • Actually I used both of them the pup and the original.

Thanks for the info about the line. I usually use spiderwire.

  • I am 13 and starting bass fishing can somebody give me some tips. And where did you buy the zaraspook and how do you fish it

  • im 13 and ive been fishing for a while. you could probably get it at bass pro shops or a cabelas. i usually use soft plastics though.

  • i could use some tips i am 14 and never really fished 4 bass and i need some tips can you please give me some

  • 2 tips, if your using this lure, use a bait cast set up, and keep your rod tip low when walking the dog. Creates more action on the lure, also prevents a head shake and tossing the lure out. But if your on them , it doesnt really matter, just throw it out and walk it back. Zara Gossa is another good one to use looks like the spook but its a two piece bait.

great footage- never een it done with a spin cast set up.

  • Excellent tip..thanks

Funny I have never used my zaraspook on my baitcaster.. just felt they were too heavy, but I will try it this year.

  • those bass didnt look like the "3 and 4 pounders he kept saying" looked more like 2-2 and 1/2 pounders. judging that your using a 4" bait and the bass isnt but 3 maybe 4 times as long as your bait.

  • I would agree..but you know men..

They arent very good with measurements

  • hey you did a good job can you give me some tips for bass

  • haha camera guy sounds turned on....mMmmmM nice..nice fish..he so big...oh yeah..he so big

  • We were out having some fun with a digital camera. He isent a camera man he is just an enthusiastic fisherman. I was asked to help someone with the technique. No need to be critical
