Saw Patti Smith in Wilkes-Barre, PA longer ago than there is a right to be. Opening act was the Ramones. Quite a show. She insisted she was "not punk".

"Gloria" was written by Van Morrison for his band "Them". The Shadows of Knight version gained airplay over Them's version when they altered the lyrics enough to satisfy censors.

Lenny Kaye, Patti's guitarist, compiled the original "Nuggets" LP collection of garage and psych tracks for Elektra.
