  • This is in 6, Not 5..

  • I can hear the difference, but I couldn't explain it to save my life.

  • What is 5/4? I don't get it.

  • @oscarturanga 5 beats per measure, each quarter note gets 1 beat.

  • I tried to count. Not successful.

  • WOW! This stuff is unreal. I'm a rock bassist convert who's fairly new to jazz, and trying to wrap my head around the rhythms in "Raggy Waltz" blew my mind. I decided to just forget about understanding right now and just enjoy. ;)

  • You can really hear the rag vs waltz from 6:00- 6:30.

  • @janken919 The timing changes from rag time (2/4) to waltz (3/4). It also sounds like some Paul's solos are in 4/4. Just listen to the drummer!

  • SO AWESOME

  • Lovely stuff- I don't normally like alto sax but Paul Desmond can make that thing sing!

  • Awesome, thanks for posting. Dave said it best when he said that in order to Jazz to evolve, time signatures must be challenged and experimented with.

  • I bow to the vid and to you!

  • he's out of breath after the performance.

    fantastic!

  • This is gold.
