  • Stop being tools and hating the song just because you find out that Mayer covered it. Honestly, you can send your bullshit somewhere else because it's still not going to change the fact that some people like it.

Fucking purists. Learn to appreciate music for what it is and not where its from.

  • i just cant listen to a Radiohead song sung by john mayer

  • How interesting.

  • Is this fucking John MAYER? GODDAMNIT.

  • @GreatUnwashedMass I know how you feel!

  • Hi, um, I usually don't do this, but... I made a video of my interpretation of this song. I juts uploaded it yesterday... It took me hours, and god knows how much thought was put into it. It'd be nice if some of you guys checked it out. Thanks. :]

    /watch?v=vLyKkxLoYcg

  • awesome video very creative

  • People, lol, covers are not supposed to sound like the original.. to "cover" a song is to re-interpret it and add your own personal style to it.. that's exactly what John did

  • personally I don't understand how you can be a Radiohead fan and a John Mayer fan at the same time. I mean, it's awesome that he respects Radiohead and all, but John couldn't do something original to save his life. Just sayin'.

  • Where can I get this song?

  • not bad at all. I'm pretty damn impressed lol

  • Excellent cover.

  • I'm a huge Radiohead fan, and sort of a semi-JM fan. This cover is nice... of course Radiohead do it better, but this version is for days where you just don't feel like weirding it up, you know?

  • @remynash listen to punch brothers' version of this song.

  • It's pretty good, I guess. It's certainly not PatD doing Karma Police or anything that bad, but it doesn't even come close to the original.

  • Oh yeah, Anonymouswhiteperson, surely that makes you a twat?

  • MINT! Anything better?! The maymeister covering the best band ever to have existed..

  • oh.. really awesome.

  • I respect him for the cover and the standard sound, but the fact is Thom Yorke (or Jonny Greenwood?) had probably already played the song standard but decided to weird it up.

What I'm trying to say is that I rather have Thom Yorke playing it standard with Thom's voice.

  • Yes, indeed: endless respect to any artist with enough sense to pay tribute to Radiohead by covering a song... well-done, or not, it's a token of deep appreciation. And still: Thom Yorke and Radiohead do it so much better... I like to think that John Mayer would agree.

  • yeah i definitely agree man. this is cool, but it just lacks that thom yorkeness about it.

  • god this version of mv is better

    /watch?v=J1cauzKU3Qk&feature=related

  • you have to like John M to like this version... all his stuff sounds the same to me so I don't see what the big deal is

  • I pretty much agree. This version is interesting, though of course doesn't touch the original John Mayer can be pretty bluesy and cool when he wants, but most of his songs do sound the same.

    Cool video, by the way.

  • epic, both this one and the original.

  • cool

  • Great video. Did you just run the video through a series of Photoshop filters?

  • in the old imovie, there was a special filter i just picked at random.

  • Great job, and great cover too

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahaha john mayer radiohead me like

  • Genius

  • one word: rorschach

  • Kewl Video, Very Creative.

  • its amazing that the video that went with the song was truly pointless but went along with the song perfectly lol btw great song, another success for John Mayer

  • that some pretty sick guitar

  • Haha, awesome cover. And trippy video. Great job! haha

  • damn, haters unite...

    I like it!

  • haha this is really cool, i love the artistic effect

  • though i can´t see the soul of this song, it´s cover and covers don´t have to be like original. rather mustn´t!! then would be copy not cover. it´s very nice... i really like it

  • i wonder if the draft of the song was more like this before it got studio processed?

  • Can you tell me/us how you archived the effect please

  • Can someone tell me where to get an mp3 of this?

  • I absolutely love this! Brilliant!

  • Great tribute to a great song!

  • no, he didn't. this is fantastic.

  • agreed

  • It´s good.

  • agreed, and i don't even like john mayer!

  • i slipped on a little white lie...

  • I don't think this is a bastardisation at all!

In fact, I think it's pretty audacious, and generally valid!

  • Nice work..i usually despise macs...but this is some quality stuff right here...JM is the man

  • Way too much hate on this video, the quality is great, the animation is cool, and it would have been 10,000 times lamer if they HAD just done a cover of the actual song. Props to the makers.

  • Pretty good transcription from its electronic

  • ...original version to guitar. Original is better, but not a bad take.

  • you are a brainlass fanboy, this is quite an ok version.

  • calm down jackass its a cover

its not meant to be exactly the same

the rule for covers is to do it differently enough to make it your own

so shove it up your ass and dont listen to it if you dont like it

  • calm down jackass its a cover

the rule for covers is to do it differently enough to make it your own

so shove it up your ass and dont listen to it if you dont like it

  • MP3 of this anywhere?

  • Radiohead's original is good in the electronic genre

John Mayer's version is cool in its own genre

Still i think Radiohead's is better

  • Everyone seems to be commenting on the song itself, but I really like this video. Thanks for posting it--and introducing me (and a ton of others) to this version of Kid A.

  • very good song

  • Hate it. Sorry person who made the vid, I didn't mean I hate the vid, just the song. Ugh, it's horrible. It makes NO sense! Read the lyrics and you'll understand what I mean.

  • dude...or girl...this is radiohead..john mayer just did a cover...

  • haha, thats the point man. Thom said that he litterally just had a bunch of random lyrics, put them in a hat, and picked them out. XD

    haha, you're dumb

  • I love radiohead but their fans are twats

  • well some of us are, yes, but some of us are pretty decent, we just don't like to be associated with other bands and most of us have an undying hate for oasis

  • Their fans are mostly pretentious, anal retentive drama school students and lady-boys.

  • surely that makes you a twat?

  • omg.... john mayer did this...so..you didnt..do..this... damn...i take my last comment back..i really know nothing about john mayer..

  • i like radiohead version better. they have much more meaning to it. but dude..you can sing!! you should do a cover on idioteque! your voive is just perfect for that song! good job dude keep it up!

  • LMAO.....better than Radiohead's version. You are kinda funny.

    funny in a silly way.

  • Actually I prefer this version in some ways than Radiohead's version. Just because someone did the original it doesn't mean that someone else can't do a decent job of it.

  • Where can I get this song?? I have looked every where and I have no luck, does anyone know?

  • it's in the Bigger than my Body single. it's the second track i believe.

  • Inferior. But very awesome.

Kid A was all about bizarre sound distortions.

But hey, Mayer, good personal interpretation.

  • i like the residents ;]

  • Yea, I'm not much for this kind of music, but this version of Kid A is very cool. I definitely like it better than Radiohead's version, but I might change my mind someday.

  • I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

  • as far as an opinion goes on this compared to radiohead, i'd say that this version works to remove a lot of the dissonant elements from the song. good? bad? undecided.

  • radiohead and john mayer are both fucking amazing

    and nice vid editing dude

  • awesome

enseñame ese tema en guitarra pliss

  • this cover is probably probably pretty hard to find

  • wow im surprised....very good

  • A lot of people say Death Cab For Cutie kind of copied this song in I Will Possess Your Heart. But I don't think so at all -.-

  • He does a great cover of this, it's never been my favorite Radiohead song, but this version is stellar. I know I'll probably get thumbs-downed to hell for saying this, but I actually like this version better than the original.

  • you're a brave person to say that! admirable.

  • that's because you don't get the essence of radiohead. but this cover is pretty sweet, i gotta admit. but mayer's style is typical and mainstream, which will probably make the mass go wet for this song. but in no way does mayer capture the complexities and the masterpiece of the original version!

  • ROFL TYPICAL AND MAINSTREAM? u obviously havent listened to his albums

  • haha so john mayer is grounbreaking and alternative? boy would i love to see babe fly.

  • this is fantastic

  • Hm, surprisingly good cover. :)

  • Surprisingly decent cover, I'm not much of a Mayer fan but it was pretty good, nice video effects too.

  • Great video

    Great song.

  • John Mayer and Radiohead, in Kid A, are just damn perfect together.

  • well i will agree he does a solid cover here. for some reason 3 ppl gave u thumbs down for the comment. i put a 1 up because i think this is a good cover.

  • hmmm well thanks) i really dont understand why they gave me thumbs down...this cover is very good and john mayer himself is not bad and making a cover of the greatest bands song shouldnt be easy but he did it very well!! so well done john!

  • I MUST have tabs for this!

  • where did you get this song?did he put it on a cd?

  • It was a B-side to John Mayer's 2003 single "Bigger Than My Body." So it is available on a CD, but not one you will find at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. I'm sure it would be included if Mayer ever released a B-side & rarities compilation.

  • this is really amazing, i want to cry:) radiohead and John Mayer wow im very excited to go to radiohead this summer:)

  • Wow, couldn't have expected a better cover of this song

  • lol Awesome :)

wow where did you get this version of the song from? I love it :)

  • Roarschak. Funky! Who watches the watchmen?

  • thats the man right there

  • Why cant I stop listening to this?? Why ar'nt more artists brave enough to cover Radiohead?? I think many more Radiohead songs will be covered beautifully over the next 500 years. Their music is so timeless.

  • we've got heads on sticks

  • wowsers trousers. beautiful!

  • I could listen to this song all day

  • I'm a huge Radiohead fan and a big John Mayer fan as well. He did a really good job on this. I love how he appreciates Radiohead. Not to many people in his spectrum of music really appreciate this kind of stuff. I think its kool that he's aware of all different kinds of music.

  • its john mayer

  • Whered you get this version? I like it so much I've learned it on guitar!

  • actually i really like your version.

  • good.

  • heaven

  • cool version!

  • RADIOHEAD

  • but this is john mayer playing, still a good cover but i like radioheads version better

  • pleaseeeeee could someone send me this song???

  • giv da address

  • I like his cover it's great

  • Nice work, well done!

  • DAMN his voice is hot when he sings that low.

And I love when he does this stuff, it makes people who aren't really JM fans see him in a different light and appreciate how wonderfully versatile he really is.

  • holy crap. nice surprise from john mayer.

  • Not a John Mayer fan, Huge Radiohead fan, and he did do this song justice.

  • you can barely hear him say "come on kids" and that's my favourite part of the song...

nah actually it's not, i love the whole song. and this version is interesting but i prefer the original. nice vidya

  • that definately is actually my favourite part of the song and i didnt even notice him say it untill i listened to it twice =/

  • yeah, he does say it. it's so quiet and slurred, especially the "kids" part

  • that was nice

  • People who fight over musical tastes are wasting their time.

Please, give it a rest, people!

  • respect.

  • sounds like john mayer

  • it is. And i actually like this cover very much.

  • "Radiohead fanboys" is your go-to phrase isn't it? I didn't catch the 'multiple steps above' comment, but there isn't anything else out there like them.

  • I agree, and Radiohead has to be one of my favorite bands. But to call them "multiple steps above music" is arrogant. I don't know, that's just my opinion.

  • cool

  • holy crap.. this is so wierd (the song.. the vids cool to but yeah)

  • 2 of my favorite artists combined.

    amazing.

he really loves radiohead, when i went to see him in nashville he played the whole kid a cd while setting up

  • Just got into Radiohead. Love em. John awesome. I'd love to hear Radiohead cover a Coldplay song though. Be interesting to see the interpretation. follow me out of town... Come on kids.

  • I can't see that ever happened Coldplay is to me a rip off of Radiohead

  • Nah. I think that Coldplay were definetly influenced by Radiohead (who couldn't be, after listening to the music... Amazing), But it's their own stuff. They're more poppy, And their lyrics are crafted into the song. From the little I've heard about Radiohead, it's all about the music. But hey, that's your opinion. Think of it this way. If you saw the Beatles as ripping of Chuck Berry and the other rock kings, would that mean you wouldn't enjoy their music? peace.

  • True true I have to admit depite my view on Coldplay they are some Coldplay songs I like maybe I should just be more open minded

  • WHAT? :P

  • Radiohead, Coldplay, John Mayer - the three best artists ever! Maybe Muse in there aswell, not as good though. Love John Mayer and this is a deadly cover

  • Let me get this straight, the best three artists are all out of the 90's......Bob Dylan, James Brown, Neil Young, David Bowie - who are these guys then?

  • beatles....

  • britney spears

  • tal bachman

  • i love radiohead and john mayer

2 of the great artists of today for sure

  • its a very good video, I like the cover and the simple editing and effects work well for this song. watched it thrise

  • i love this, they are both among my favorite artists.

now if only radiohead would cover "Your body is a wonderland"

    hahaha, im just kidding.

    dont get mad,.

  • the only thing i kinda like by John Mayer isn't even his own song haha.

  • seriously! I don't like him either, but this cover intrigued me.

  • wow this is good, i wish john mayer would more consistently do good music...

most of what i hear from him is mastubatory chick rock...

  • Haha, he's only good when he does covers.

  • Then you don't hear much. I love Radiohead, and I love John Mayer. All of you commenters bashing John on this video, get your heads out of 2003. In recent years, John has evolved into one of the best modern guitar players there is right now.

  • Ignorant.

  • me? i dont think so, resident is right, he can cover, but if he tries to write his inner 13 year old girl comes out...

  • sorry, post ordered was screwed when i posted, looked like you were replying to me

  • ahahahahah wuidyen his inner 13 year old girl, that's hilarious...and so true at the same time

  • yeah this version kicks, but the original is great to. its from such a sweet phase of radioheads career, and for mayer to bringg out his own style in the song, is just beautiful

  • As much as I myself like this version, I stand by the Radiohead version as better.

The sounds are so elaborate and unique. I can get lost in that version for hours.

  • You are right. Radiohead is not even music. It is multiple steps above music.

  • Radiohead fans are multiple steps above ostentatious

  • Dont get me wrong, Radiohead are my #1, it's just that the premise of "the..best artists ever!" is a very dumb one. Just say they are your 3 favorite and leave the moronic comments out of it.

  • You're in the minority then. Radiohead has to be one of my favorite bands ever, but come on. "Multiple steps above music?" Sadly, I hear stupid comments like that from Radiohead fanboys all over YouTube.

  • 15 steps to be precise.
