It is a question of upbringing from their parents and not bland sitcoms, about contraception, not abstinence. The assumption that teens will have sex anyway is bull crap. Most teen sex practices result in those teens not wanting to obey standards put down by their parents. Teen sex occurs usually because of rebelling against parental authority. They don't have sex unless someone tricks them into thinking there is no serious risk involved.

@Rawk4Life Are you kidding? What you are saying is, that if teens have sex, they are forced into it, by tricking each other? I don't know what kind of teens lived around you, or how you where brought up. But I don't recall my teen encounters as being about trickery, drugs or drinking. Most of this took place with our parents knowing, not on some park bench. In this county (Denmark) parents know how to talk to their kids, and leach them about the dangers and problems that can be caused by sex.

My implication was that teen sex can be caused by peer pressure or by some adult telling them that they are perfectly safe if they use protection. I used to have a friend that decided to have sex because she was sick of being known as the "innocent virgin"among most of her friends. She also had bad role model parents and a brother who was lazy on looking for a job to pay child support for his baby girl. So yes, unwed sex can occur because of bad situations going on in the home.
