  • Franz Strauss led a temporary munity against Richard Wagner during rehearsal for Die Meistersing.

  • excellent, however I think the second movement should be slower :)

  • the pianist hasn't got musical sense... But the hornist is incredible. :) I play this piece too :) I'm 16 yo.:)

Although i think i wont be able to play it in your tempo, especially the last pieces (09:43) and Variation 2 (04:08). Anyway, im giving you an standing ovation from behind my laptop!!

  • You have a very nice tune, especially in the beginning, keep on going and you'll be very famous. Where are you from?

  • amazing!!!

  • that's great!!!! I remember myself playing that piece when I was 17 or so, but even then I wasn't that good. Great job!! I really like how your air flows really freely. Keep it up! you'll be a monster horn player!!!!

  • ohh wow! i wish i could play like that (: im the best in my school mostly because there's only 3 french horn players,, haha but amazing truly

  • ikr?!? People don't practice enough... I ALMOST sound like that... ALMOST sigh... I've been playing for four years.

  • this year iz goin 2 make eit 3 years dat im playin but if u take ur time out 2 practice u could sound so nice and also if ur reeally dedicated 2 playin

  • omg your really good =D better then me haha i applaud u on your solo =] YAY for us fellow F.Horn players!!!!

  • Yayzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!! XD

  • I just started playing french horn having really learned anything on it but i love it

  • i play the french horn and you can't breath quietly when you play

  • Anyone know what grade this is? I am guessing ABRSM Diploma, just done Grade 8 and this is NOT grade 8 lol x

  • Breath with your nose?? What? No. He just doesn't know how to breathe quietly... Breathing with your nose would not be appropriate for this song, it would be to difficult to fully fill up.

  • no you can breath through your nose easily and fill up on air. i have to play like 26 notes and breath through my nose at the end of every 26 notes. i fill up on air fine.

  • Well I guess it is different for some people..

Meh oh well, it isn't like i know this kid personally or anything.

  • for some people its harder than others and sometimes peoples breathing kind of screws up and you kind of cant reschedule an event like this till you feel better

  • breathing trough your nose is stupid and improper you get more air with the mouth faster quiet without air sucks and doesnt come out with big tone witch is needed for good horn players or any instrument

  • that was mean...

  • you're not suppose to breath through your nose.

  • its better to. because it sounds clearer. if you suck in air as loud as a cop siren during a church prar, it sounds wrong

  • hey do u have to be so mean to him? atleast he is trying? he probabley put this vid on to get critique to get better not be murdered online! He's just a kid!

  • well you upgrade from trumpet to french horn, and the french horn is actually one of the hardest instruments to play. and to be honest, it sounds nice.

  • DUH! I PLAY FRENCH HORN!

  • well, if your dumbass would look at the comments that he left himself, you would see that it's how he was taught to play, and he did nice so if you want to leave this person critique express it in a positive way. not try to make him look like an idiot which you are failing at and instead making yourself look like one.

  • practise sluring, i know your lips get tired, but this could also mean you need a biger mouth pieace. I hear the notes inbetween. Wow, ocword, I play horn but I started in the middle of my sixth grade year and I'm going to be a freshmen in a few years..weird!

  • great!

I play the French Horn, too.

And I practice to play the same composition,

but I think I wouldn't be as good as this boy in the same age

  • Wow. Impressive for only 15.

  • a tip for your embouchure:

I notice, when you play louder, your tone gets lower. I think this means you play the rest "too high" if you understand what I mean.

try to find the tone height that is most pleasant for your loud notes. On this you should tune. It will play even easier then is my experience.

    cheers

  • hey man sounded great. sounded great

  • grade6 as musical grade?

    im 12 and grade0?

  • What's the exact name of this song i searched it online and couldn't find it.

  • i agree, this is awesome and ur really good... and i think i'm gonna do like mefju200.. im gonna play this at my next exam and use this video to help me :D

  • wow this is very very VERY good!

  • awesome!! but isn't it hard to hold up the horn while you are standing without muting it too much?

  • Fine job - very musical playing! I wish i had played this well when i was 15!

  • it´s good

I play it too but not so fast...more slowly =)

  • the feedback in the background is unfortunate, but really great playing! Purdy horn, too.

  • It's an Alex 1103, the best for the best obviously!

Really nice playing, i heard an 18 year-old friend of mine play this the other day and you are playing at a quality of that age, so you should be really proud of yourself. Keep it up!

  • the horn is a alexander, but i dont know. SORRY BUT I DONT SPEAK INGLISH.

  • What horn do you use? Hoyer?

  • 그저 ..초고수

  • ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ한국인이다!안녕하세요

  • 아예 저도 호른 합니당ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  • excellent work.

  • Jeffery, may I ask who your teacher is and where are you located? You are a real fine horn player :)

  • Jeffrey, do you control your air supply from the throat? (I do.) I build great pressure at the throat, then the air supply is constant and controlled by the throat rather than by the embouchure. This helps in maintaining an intense tone (like yours), maintains good intonation, and reduces missed notes.

  • By throat control of air support, I mean than you push extra hard with the abdominal muscles and restrict and control the air at the throat. By doing this you don't control the air pressure or flow at the embouchure. This reduces the work on the embouchure and stabilizes the air flow at the embouchure. This improves intonation, reduces missed notes, improves high range, and increases endurance. Your abdominals work harder and your lips work less hard.

  • Dude,u can play the horn way better than i can :>

  • FINALLY.

    someone worth watching.

  • very beautiful!!!

  • Bravo!

  • Wow! Very good sound! Great articulation and dynamics. You sing with the instrument and you play with your heart. Just the way you're suppose to. Good job, Sir. You are a very good horn player. Keep up the good work. -Scott

  • Very good sound! And beautiful music! Expecting another maestro too come out of you!

But the fast bit too fast! Take you time. You are so young, you still have much time to play! Don't rush!

I will tell lin how good you are!

  • One of my favorites. It's fun to play. I put a lot of miles on this piece in college.

  • I play on Cerveni CHR 781...very good...

  • I played this when i was 16 years old :D You are good :D

  • dude your really good, i play french horn and im nowhere near as good as you. how long do u practice eachday

  • Hola de nuevo!! Yo he tocado la Fantasie op.2 de F. Strauss que es muy parecida, y la tocas genial, congratulations!Saludos!!!

  • By the way, you are one of the best people I heard playing the horn. Wow. How do you reach notes that high? I"m not good at high notes.....

  • I was taught by my teacher that when you play high notes, you are to NEVER EVER force. "That's where people get the wrong idea; they think that brute force will get them anywhere". Also, get your low register, better, and the foundation is required to go higher.

  • ye galan enca te falta molt per aprendre xD

  • wow! sounds like some hard work is paying off! that's inspiring.

  • Carrying on the Lin Jiang legacy of prodigious Australian horn players? You sound great! What horn do you play on?

  • I play on an Alexander 1103.

  • nice tone and articulation! Bravo!

  • good job jeffrey its james from dandenong

  • Outstanding performance! You are a gifted horn player and a wonderful musician. Lovely tone in high and low ranges. Fine interpretation of the piece. Love the intensity or your music.

  • go jeffrey!!!!! you rule!!!!!!
