I've seen many Nutcrackers over the years. The SFB Nutcracker is the most superb on every level. It brought tears to my eyes.

Yes I wonder why Helgi chose to cast Yuan Yuan Tan as the Snow Queen and Molly as the Sugarplum for the filming of the ballet and not vice versa.

Love the version. The only thing off is the Snowflake part. Supposedly, this is a San Francisco theme, but the Snow King and Queen have no connection to SF. Otherwise, love the new twist with the dragon, Faberge eggs, the bugs in Act 2.

The snowflake scene is one of my if not my favorite sequence from the Nutcracker so I'm glad they chose to leave it in

I watched it yesterday! November 24, 08 11 am.

It was brilliant. I got annoyed because the girl the made as Clara ( The Dance, end part, gold dress) Was older, she's a principal. But whatever! It was fantastic.

i watched this on pbs a couple days ago. the only dancei liked was snow. the rest sucked! clara on flat? wtf! and sugarplumbs arabesque was at like a 45 degree angle! seriously. and the sleigh turnes into the throne? how cheap can they get? colorado ballet's budget for nutcracker is 9.5 million. san francisco can afford more than that! and tha bear in mother ginger... OMFG WHAT THE HELL

I just saw this on PBS- me and like my entire dance studio watched it. we're the Valley Dance Theatre in Livermore, we're doing the Nutcracker at our local theatre this week and our stage crew screwed up our snow and we got an avalanche LOL.

This is MAGNIFICENT.

I just saw this on PBS last night.

What a treat, especially for someone born and raised on the NYC Ballet version. I LOVED the "new": Snowflake Waltz, Arabian Dance, and Clara and the Prince dancing.

And for the first time ever (that I've seen), the show ends with Clara waking up back in her living room.
