This movement reminds me of the notorious cult known as "Landmark" (formally called E.S.T. and the Forum). What they teach is that it's effectively a sin to criticize or pass judgement. It doesn't take long to realize who and what stands to gain from this.
The concerns expressed about the use of AI to oppress or sweep things under the rug are very valid concerns that are being discussed everyday within the practitioner community. Some of the best thinking about these concerns comes from our colleague Dr. Stephen P. Fitzgerald in The Journal of Management Inquiry 19(3) pages 220–233. Bernard Mohr
Great video as it demonstrates that WE have lots of strengths within a community/industry/organisation that are just waiting to be discovered and aligned. AI and other strength based approaches facilitate the expression of past victories, moments of elation with a job well done that serve to inspire and enthuse people to work out how to do more of the same. Amazing what can be achieved with a little careful thought and planning. Well done.
A.I. can also be used with ill intentions. It has become a tool of manipulation and exploitation for SOME organizations. They use it as a method of change psychology to coerce conformity within the ranks and to shame those who would dare disagree.
Also by losing focus of the past, some unscrupulous managements use A.I. to sweep under the carpet their own transgressions, incompetence and unethical behavior. Criticism is frowned upon and A.I. becomes in effect mandatory optimism.

How do justice and fair play fit into "appreciative inquiry"? It sounds very cultish to me.

Fantastic video that truly demonstrates many of the benefits of summits in an upbeat and easy to understand way. Thanks for the example.
