This is an amusing video. I didn't recognise Thomas Dolby at one stage! Glad to see Jools Holland as well. I hope that nothing serious happened to that keytar Thomas Dolby threw away.
Thanks a million for putting this up! All my old Tube vids rotted in a shed years ago. SH-101 was my first synth, and it was great to see it put to such great use (and abuse) again. Next up - I Scare Myself...
Awesome, I remember watching this all those years ago when it was televised. Easily one of mr dolbys best songs. I would love to hear him perform it live again.
Yeah, if the sound guy could've mixed the keyboard player's mic. down maybe his voice would'nt be so overwhelming. No matter, it's classic Thomas Dolby....and I love the lights that surround the upper part of the place they're playing; very 80's and very european.
@jezzyby47 not that many JP-8's were sold really, they were kinda expensive! Best guess is the M1 (250000)is the biggest selling synth of all time, followed by DX7 (200000)and then D-50 (175000). MicroKorg has sold 150000+ recently. In comparison the JP-8 sales were approx 2000 units. SH-101 sales were rumoured to be just over 50000
Great stuff. Love the bit where he chucks the little Roland away - magic! Wonder if they caught it. The backing vox was mixed too high which lost the melody. Jools supplies his usual (when he's guesting with other bands) 'down-home' boogie style - (can't the guy play anything else? ;) )
LOL hahahaaa when the backing vocals come in and ruin it. i can't stop laughing at his awful backing vocals.

It looks like Lyndon Connah on other keys/awful backing vocals. Sorry to say, but I never enjoy that guy's vocals, whoever he's playing with.

I do believe that is noen other than Jules Holland sitting in on the Yamaha CP70 electric grand.

I hope someone caught that red Roland SH101 Synthesizer at 03:22. They are rare and worth a fair bit of cash too.

Not as much as the Jupiter 8 featured every time it shows the guy playing keyboards and b.vox. Lots rarer and expensive. And polyphonic.

SH101s were grey, red ones ARE very rare. There were loads of Jupiter 8s sold.

I guess we will never know.. Anyway, poor usage of such a great synth in this song

This is such an awesome song! It'd be funny to put a commercial in the middle of it, though.
And it'd be nice if Dolby learned to move around and *perform* while singing, more like Ian Anderson.

Yes you are right. I'm 24 and I think so. I saw him in concert last night and there's still something about him.
