Agreed on the dissimilar hardware. This will only work on like hardware. BMR on dissimilar hardware is a tricky thing, while products like EMC HomeBase, Acronis and others do an OK job this is more of an art than a science so buyer beware. If you truly need portability and BMR is a major concern the best option is to virtualize.
