shes such a beautiful woman!! gotta love her! she adds such a dark sensuality to her music. and its pointless trying to compare nick cave to this, just accept it for what it is, a beautifully done cover!
People say there's no difference between The Knife and Fever Ray, but there indeed is. Karin's music is alot darker because it's alot more personal than anything she did with her brother. I'm putting all of her songs on a CD, probably going to play it in the car on the way to the store, and my mother's gonna be like, "What the Hell is this?" That's brilliance mom, that's brilliance.
@SolumDementia WELL SAID!I AGREE KARINS MUSIC WITH THE FEVER RAY PROJECT IS WAY DARKER AND OMINOUS THEN HER WORK WITH HER BROTHER IN THE KNIFE!AMAZING ARTIST!
Why do people have to make it into some sort of lame competition? This is nothing more than a really good artist tipping her hat to another really good artist.
@rexfrancis79 I don't think it was an attempt to make it better, it was simply a homage and alternate way of making is sound which was pulled off to great effect. I doubt very much that if questioned that Karin would claim it as being superior to the original because that would never have been the intent.
@blade004 Well said. I've never even heard the Nick Cave version and I loved this one. If anything, it just made want to hear the original...this has a dark/haunting texture to it that I really enjoy!
Yes, I did in fact see that particular episode and yes -I do agree that her look is much like the look achieved by that disburbing 1930's drama episode where there was a large gorilla who eventually ended up firing a fully loaded machine gun at the same thugs he took the gun from and was owned by a demented doctor that was trying to put a human brain into a gorilla, it all woked out well when the Gorilla befriended Moe, Curly & Larry and even made sure Moe stopped bitch slapping Curly
One thing - or maybe THE one thing i like about fever ray is the way her songs make me feel! I love how every song's got its very unique athmosphere, just great. swedish people and music... it's a thing...

@chilihans you're that, the "album" it's just an exercise of claustrophobic ventilation sung by a spoiled aboriginal child. I thought if this was a cover the rest would be fantastic, but primeval vocalizations w/minimalistic bases? i don't get how could that be qualified as dark and revolutionary. To me is stepping back instead of going forward. But again, that's just me.
@julesickdrums stepping back in what respect..what artists now would you consider are breaking new grounds? (not trying to seem rude, i'm honestly very curious)
@thegrinningman13 lol what? ripped off? its like saying women today ripped off using eye-liner. i dont think she intends to say the face paint is her idea anyway
If Borg of Star Trek would do his thing on music, this is how it would sound like. Nevertheless excelent cover in different, original and bold manner. I'm sure Nick and the Bad Seeds are glad.
I love and wish to meet her, makes me realize I need to find a gf who paints her entire face! Def one of the most unique albums of the year along with Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion and NightShining - Dark Age

Music is pretty good but she totally ripped the face paint off from the vocalist of God in a Machine.

And they ripped it off Aboriginal Australians... They have had this design down pat for the past 60,000 years....
