@blastmastertv doom metal is a slow type subgenre of metal, kinda depressing, ,melancholic, and i love it. Grindcore is a subgenre of Punk, to be accurate of crust punk, and it's some times confused with death metal or brutal death metal, due to both have extreme fast tempos and guttural vocals. Good stuff. The only Metals that ever mattered to me are Death Metal, Black Metal and Trash. That's it. Well, Speed Metal's nice altho i got more into the death n black. The rest is just nonsense.

The early 90's was insane. Glad i was there to experience some very good music. Too bad i was so young, altho i was old enuff to choose between the dark and the darker and always made the right choice. When in doubt, follow the drums!

Grindcore, Death metal, who gives a fuck? I like being able to identify different types of metal, but all these sub-categories of metal are making things more confusing not less.

I've realized that they're not so much confusing, but the more specific you make a genre, the less original any artist within that subgenre ends up being.

I mean look at doom metal. That's already pretty specific, and there's a whole amalgamut of different doom metal bands and some of them are pretty different, but then when you call this lump of them funeral doom, gothic doom, epic doom...

that's when each of those sub-subgenres are the exact same shit over and over again.

Although it's been a while since I've read The Improbable History of Death Metal & Grindcore, I'm pretty sure they started around the same time as Napalm Death, the first Grindcore band. Since Napalm was the first Grindcore band it stands to reason that Carcass was Death Metal. btw the author is David Mudrain I believe.

Carcass can be consideered lots of genres on their albums which were all unique. There was Grindcore, Death metal, Melodeath, Death n Roll and Grindgore.

You wouldn't call them Heavy Metal but at the end of the day the music they play still branched off from Heavy Metal.

Michael Amott actually started out in a Swedish Death Metal band called Carnage who recorded an album; Dark Recollections (it's some good shit too!). He was offered to join carcass and did, thus moving to the UK.

i think this sounds pretty good (one of the very very very very..very few Melodic death metal albums that i like) but their deathgrind stuff was more brutal and more aggressive, althoughi i agreee, Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious is their most brutal release to date. Angrygrindcore fan, no need to hate these guys, they still rock, theyre not like every generic melodeath band
