YOU KEEP THE CHICK IN A BLOODY CAGE! IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE IT AS A PET.... KEEP IT LIKE A PET! Treat it like how you'd treat a parrot! Keep it in the cage at night and don't let it get out of your sight, when it's done, put it back in the cage! It's not cruel, it's safe....
Sorry about your chicky. I got 4 just recently and lost one. I was really crushed by it because I was kinda attached to it :/ I cried for awhile I know its only a chick but its cuteness really made me feel guilty about it dying on my watch. I should have kept a closer eye on her. I'm sorry Buttercup :'|
i have an old english game bantam chick and she looks just like your baby. i have had chicks die in the past and it is truly awful and unfair how your baby chick died.
Hey I know your pain, just 4 hours ago I was playing with mine, it would follow me around and it would jump out of it's box and find me wherever I was in the house, but when we came home from a family dinner it was in it's box, not moving, I gave it water but it stayed there, after 5 minutes it's eyes shut. it's body collapsed, and the only movement is it's breathing, and we get the odd chirp. R.I.P Henry, he was 3 weeks old
I remember when I had a chick. I was six or eight and I had an orangish yellow chick. I watched as it ran around inside its pen, and then I saw a GIANT cat climb up the fence and jump down and WOLFED the chick in his mouth. All you could see was the feathers. T_T It was like a bad cartoon.
my chickens deid(or alot of them i had 25 of them) were killed by a cat and some of them i think were stolen for chicken fighting two of them looked like that chicky im soooooo sorry about what happend to him :(
one thing i hate is baby chickens die easily last year i owned about 9 last year they always die from the cold or heat i do everything keep them cool or warm i fed them and one time one of the chooks died by drowning in its water bowl
@skaterdiehgf Yeah but this chick was alone, there was another chick that we bought with it but it passed away before this one did. It got attached to us and we did too. That was our mistake, we should have bought at least 3 or 4 to put in a pen :(
ah okay then. well, i usually buy them in pairs too but one time i only bought one and it died within a week... and i googled up sometime this pass year and i found a few sites that said among the lines as, chickens are social animals and can easily die from not being in a social environment.
when you're buying chickens, always buy them in pairs of two. the reason why it's chirping so much is because the chick was calling out for another chick. birds can die of loneliness. and even if a human is there all the time, it still needs to be with a friend of the same species. when you buy birds again, try to get them in pairs.
@RadioSue29 We actually did get them in pairs. We got this one and a little black one but it died before this one. And this chick didn't die of loneliness, it may have felt lonely, but it did not die of loneliness, it was a terrible accident that caused it's death.
D: I know how to feel! My first chickens (when I was 10 now I'm 12..) Was a RIR (Rooster so hes gone) Amerucana (Still at my house) And a bantam named Flower.. She was so weak when we got her, I loved her so much. We have to force feed her, and force her to drink.. the next day my dad told me she was dead and I cried liek for two weeks! D:
I sometimes wonder if people just squish chicks in their hands. Obviously, no one would admit to it or film it, being that it would not be politically correct.
@miroslovah Hey, she loved that little chicken...just the way it behaves around her shows that. It was an accident and she is devastated. At least she had the heart to take it into her life and care for it. How much have you done for the world besides judge people?
My condolences to the chickie's human mama...baby knew you loved him. Most chicks in the meat factories don't even know that. He was blessed and so were you <3
Hi I to live in California I love baby chicks but mine are pheasents, I subbed and thought you were taking goood care of the little cutie pie. That is sad that it died can you tell me why I wont get mad, i had a pet accident to...
looking at the way you reach out ur hand, i could tell that this chicken trusts u a lot. i used to have a mouse who does the same but he also died. sorry about ur chicken.
i had two 6 day old chicks and both of em died today i watched them close theyre eyes and pass away.i guess they were too little and needed care from theyre real mom.i miss them so much
yeah you have to keep the baby chickens under a heat lamp for most of their first 4 weeks otherwise they get cold and die. so remember to keep them warm 80% of the time! they cannot go running around the garden like a normal pet for the first month otherwise they can die from many factors mostly the cold. keep em warm!
omg. im so sorry for you. i just lost two of my bantam chicks a few days ago. i think they were smoothered to death because there was no sigh of being sick or anything. i felt so horrible. they are buried in my tomato patch. i let some of my two week old road island/leg horn cross chick out to wander around the farm this afternoon. they just hung out where the two chicks are buried. i miss them

I already love the little reddish-brown one and i'm desperately hoping he's a hen so i can keep him!
Looks like it could also have been a Light Brown Dutch Bantam, but the legs wouldn't have been yellow, they would have been green/willow colored if it was a Light Brown Dutch Bantam. Hmmm....
