  • thumbs up if you watched this movie after knowing One was writted because of it!

  • Both the book and the movie made me take one of the most important decisions on my life: Stuying Social Sciences... And I will never regret 'bout it... So thanks a lot Dalton Trumbo... I'll always be in debt with you...

  • Gotta love the good ole' Alien and Sedition Act.

  • 80 milion pepole dead

can you try to imagine it

    i can't

  • the 4 dislikes are 4 american assholes who joined the US military and are ashamed to admit they have dedictaed their lives to a nothing career

  • @sherco6921 Troll

  • @HosAndOREOs parazone kills 99% of germs. obviously missed you hahaha

  • Just watched it on Netflix and wow what a grate movie.

  • i wish i could find this on youtube bc its a great movie

  • @bradshdy456 ...the movie acctualy is uploaded on youtube...

  • 4 people dont have their gun

  • um no johnny got his gun is based not about the last man but actually he was the first man to die in that war after he lost his arms legs mouth ears eyes and was basically a living head with a torso and died in the hospital after using his head as morse code telling the doctors to kill him and they did eventually and was the first dead man in that war and the leaders saw the demise and ended that war because of it

  • metallica brought me here

  • can anybody please tell me the year this movie was made in... please respond and thank you in advance!

  • I read a preamble from Trumbo when the book was reissued in 1971. The original publication was in 1939. Not the best of timing with WW-2 about to start. But it was read by many on the left and even the hardcore isolationists on the right. Trumbo was surprised how many G.I.'s from WW-2 actually had a copy of it with them during their time in the war.

  • some clips from this movie is in the music video for metallica's one! thumbs up if you like Metallica!

  • @oldGnRrocks1 Actually metallica's one made me watch this fantastic movie...

  • 3 people don't like good literature.

  • "I don't know whether I'm alive and dreaming or dead and remembering."

  • It changed mine!

  • let men play war overseas or at home in bars or against their wife/kids- but women join in their OWN territories-womens nations-protect themselves & children from overpopulation, war & marital rape- wheres all the damaged vietnamese or burned japanese women /kids shot/bombed by our soldiers on utube- or do they not want to draw attention & cause sadness in others?

  • weapons profits- plus depopulation of young male deer vs old male deer

  • @menace391 On Netflix. That's where I saw it.

  • @Subgunz4ever scenes from this were on metallica's "one"... waaaaaaaaaaaay before that....

  • What a great movie. Best movie I have ever seen. So imaginative, yet, so real. Love the scenes with jason robards and his son. You must see the movie. I am looking forward to reading the book. Jason robards definitely narrated the trailer...

  • Metallica made me want to read this book.

  • metallica

  • I want to see this film but I really really want to read the book

  • Why what happened in this to not let you sleep ?

  • I read the bloody book. The film obviously cannot truly capture the Horror of what Trumbo tried to portray. In the book you get INSIDE the mind of the mutilated man and experience what it is like to be in his position.

I think the movie is great so long as it spurs people on to read the book. The movie on its own in not enough.

  • What does it mean 80 million who have died? The high estimates of WWI casualties are only around 65 million

  • you all sound so ignorant, just read the book befor you watch themovie

  • I saw it and couldnt sleep for 3 days, because it really does happen to a lot of people.

  • one of the most wanders ever

  • Metallica owns this!!! Literally! They bought all rights to this movie! They even made a song about it!

  • David Carradine's voice???

  • @Jim21680

    Jason Robard's voice.

  • @GalaxinaFan "Bravo"

  • A modern version of this movie would be amazing!

  • @1989warren

That's the most humble and clever comment I've read on YouTube for... months

But who should we "pick" to realize it ?

  • @1989warren I though the same exact thing as I was watching the trailer. And I think this day in age when we, as a world for the most part, have become desensitized to the horrors of war, could certainly use a wake up call.

  • @whydewucare

that isnt what its bout, its bout this guy who got partly blown up in ww1 but survived and lost his hearing, speech, sight, and muscle movement but the army keeps him alive for testing so the poor man is trapped to only his thoughts..sad..

  • Thanks for the post. I have been looking for the original trailer for a long time.

  • that film is the only horror movie ive eva watched heart breaking

  • they should make a remake

  • @CTHdrummer94 They have.

  • copies are available on the FNAC website for 10 Euros...

  • @ whydewucare, Do you take every word from your teachers for granted ? Isn't it time to think by yourself ?

  • any one know where to get the originl movie

  • I just got it from netflix. Not sure where to buy it, but if they have it for rent, I'm sure it's available.

  • where can i watch the movie online? any one know?

  • netflix...

  • which is better- this or the 2008 remake?

  • there is only one way to find out

    "FFIIGGHHTTTTTTT"

  • the 2008 is not a remake! is a theater play filming!

  • older one of course dude.XD

  • what year was this made?

  • 1971

  • 1978?

    '71. VV

  • The most devastating film I've ever seen. Period.

  • @hopkins4545 Agree, won't ever feel the same again.

  • @whydewucare

    how is it anti-thinking?

  • @metlguitar02 did u even read the book? Joe was trying to communicate with the outside world and when they saw him tapping they just drugged him and didnt even bother to see what he was doing. And don't go flamin me cuz its what my English teacher said

  • Yes, he wanted to be shown so people could see the effects of war. I have studied that fucking book like the Bible.

It is anti-war that is why it was banned by the American government.

And if you English teacher tells you it is anti- think then they are fucking stupid, probably never read the masterpiece.

  • @EndlessLaymon its been banned by the government?

  • @ninjaswimmer0130

Yes it was banned because of it’s anti-war content during the Vietnam conflict if I remember correctly that was why it was heavily cited by protesters . Trumbo was blacklisted and nearly sent to jail or ‘Un-American behaviour.'

  • @EndlessLaymon so it would be impossible to watch it now?

  • Comment removed

  • @ninjaswimmer0130 no it isn't I watched it on comcast like 6 months ago

  • @EndlessLaymon wtf why do you say its band by the us government?

  • @altoids79762 Because the novel was banned by the US government , for for its anti war message, I think it was banned during the Vietnam war, the author was even blacklisted for being un-American. that is why I said it was banned because it was.

  • @EndlessLaymon give me proof and quit talking out of your ass

  • @altoids79762 You can't post links so I will PM to you. there is no need to act like a cunt because i knew this book was banned and you didn’t i hope this is good enough for you antagonistic little prick. Also it is you talking out of you ass not me.

  • @EndlessLaymon Really? I didnt know it was banned my whole class read it in sophmore year

  • @musicxplaylist123 Yes it was banned years ago for it's blatant ant--war anti-government message. But is now readily available just like Lolita or Lady Chatterley's Lover. I am glad they are teaching it in schools as it is a fantastic book.

  • @EndlessLaymon hate to kick you off your high horse but the american government doesn't ban books. and this novel is actually required reading in many high schools, and colleges.

  • @Dodgemanthe Yes governments do ban books. Even America. JGHG was highly controversial when FIRST published and was banned and challenged I think during the time of Vietnam. The book may be required reading in some schools now l but doesn’t change the fact that it was banned

  • @Dodgemanthe Even the author asked for it not to be republished during WW11 if I remember because of how much shit it was stirring up, hell even the author was put on trial for un-American behavior because of the novel and its strong antiwar message.

    Peace.

PS: The say that the American government doesn’t ban books is highly ignorant. Just do some research.

  • Then in that case I highly doubt your English teacher read the book him/herself.

  • No it is anti-war the novel is very clear on that point. Read the fucking thing before you try to tell people what it was trying to say.

  • The book portraits the pride & honor from the generals, had nothing to do with modern war. Explains it was a war between cousins of Europes monarchy. After WWII pacifism was attacked by US because all wars are the same: politics propaganda & death: you cant see democracy or freedom, so you cant fight for it, if the politician ask your life, give him a rifle and follow him to battlefield. Le Déserteur B. Vian: S'il faut donner son sang Allez donner le vôtre Vous êtes bon apôtre

  • for the FIRST trailer, it was pretty good
