Good video! I loved the Bell Jar. I read this book in my Women Lit. class in High school. While pretty much everyone was crying while reading it, I found happiness and humor in it. I even thought about her name as symbolism. "ESTHER"- Electric Shock Therapy Her. I found the end happy but eerie..
I found the book to be very engaging and insightful as to providing a glipse into the dark vortex of madness. I think that you captured the essence of Plath's masterwork with estute acuity. Good work.
just finished the book. She was an amazing poet as well. I originally grew up in Mass. so I wanted to know more about her. I have read most of her poetry too. A real treasure to discover.
I think this is excellent. I am just finishing my English culminating on this novel. Although depressing and hard to read at times it touches on such important issues like women's roles in the 1950s and the severity of mental illness.
this was a beautiful video, especially the crucifx cut. this book is
the only thing that understands me because i went 25 years
without being able to read a book. then i was going to kill myself
anyway so i just MADE myself read the Bell Jar again to get in
the mood, but the horrid descriptions of what happens when you
don't succeed really put me off. i believe Sylvia and her book
saved my life. now i can read on sleeping tablets but still no-one
believes i couldn't.
