  • He did really well working through the jams. He didn't get frustrated like most would have.

  • @Lonlon412 Where would you suggest finding the dry lube silicone and the teflon oil?

  • Tweak the lips, polish the ramp and only put 7 rounds in the 8 round mag and it should be fine.

  • lol very cool idea

  • nice vid, the performance of the gun can be tuned up a lil for sure. Ide really like to see a vid with it tuned. COnsidering he had all the jams and still took 10th isnt bad at all, and first place for accuracy kinda smacks the gun snobs a lil bit LOL, thanks for the vid look forward to the next one. BTW, ive owned a hipoint 380 for over 3 years and mines tuned to what i like, ive only had 2 jams in over 3 years, and over 800 rounds through it.

  • That would be a great gun to practice your tap, rack, bang skills

  • your videos are great I was gonna pick up the hi point c9 but it was a little too big for me to totally hide at my barber shop so I went with the taurus 738b it goes right in the pocket ,funny thing is I have yet to even shoot a gun I will be going to the range for the first time Monday and I was gonna see if there is anything you can tell me about the taurus, thanks.

  • great vid.. thx for posting..

  • hey could you do a video on how to clean and disassemble a hi point 45 please.

  • Gotta know, did you break the gun in before this?

  • @Paganwarrior2000 No sir. Fresh out of the box.

  • @guntorturetests I see. I heard at the end you said that, guess I should watch the whole video before asking questions. I've yet to see anything to deter me from getting one of these, though I'll get a .45 because I don't have a gun in .45 and that's just unacceptable. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hide my shame...

  • I own a hi point; I love it. I did notice what looked like jams in the vid. was that just re-load ammo or was I just seeing it wrong?

  • @WATCHINBEAR He didn't clean or oil it, he kinda mumbles it towards the end, easy to miss (the shame!). I'm gonna guess that's what the problem was.

  • Hey Rich, I followed you over here from /r/guns. I'm a beginner and I'm in the market for a budget concealed carry and I must say I've really enjoyed watching your videos. Very informative! Keep up the good work man!

  • Hi Rich. I sent you a pm expressing my wants & fellings re: the c9. I thought Eric did a wonderful job & I was very surprised he placed 5th. There were just too many jams & hangups. It seemed like maybe he was holding his thumbs too close to the slide which perhaps interfered with the blowback - producing a jam. Anyway, as stated in my pm I still very much want a c9 - & would appreciate any ideas. THX. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • are the magazines the primary reason for the jams and other issues with Hi Points?

  • well at least you got plenty of chances to practice malfunction drills lol good shooting though

  • I have taken my 8 mag and completely filed off the two ears on the mag not just tweaked them and I havnt had one feed issue since so I've done the same to my 3 10 round mags and all feed perfect now even fully loaded. Polished feed ramp also I would trust my life to my c9 no prob now!!!

  • What a terrible gun.

  • Ya to bad you guys did'nt get a chance to try it before the match.

I've found that hi-points actually run better with more rounds in them, my C9 jammed just like on this video when it was out of the box.

My 995 carbine however has been flawless out of the box.

    Looking forward to seeing more.

  • Good vid do a torture test on a phoenix arms 25 auto with penetration test that would be cool

  • @MaskedReaper13 It some what defeats the purpose of a Hi Point if it can't run cheap ammo. The majority of people who buy Hi Points don't buy them with the intention of running special expensive ammo. If by cheap you Winchester white box 115 gr stuff? All my 9mm pistols shoot that ammo just fine.

  • A very fair and good test. I think the gun is only as good as the magazine. I don't expect it to shoot like a Sig, but I think a pistol should be 100% reliable out of the box.

  • Damn Ghost! I finally get to lay my eyes upon greatness!

  • SOLD!

  • Well you convinced me that hi points are shit. Good to know I guess.

  • I have greatly appreciated this series of videos, and I hope you continue to have fun making and posting them. Your open mind and willingness to test opinions and record the results is a breath of fresh air. The video editing part was flawless, so no worries. But I would be interested in your friends opinion of the C9 after this match, and then again after some tuning and more shooting.

  • Nice work Rich! Thanks for suggesting this. I had a blast!

  • Shooter did great, gun FTF like a mother.

  • Wind solution: Hotglue a bit of eggcrate foam (you probably have boatloads extra when you trim for guncases) I'd say make it a half-sphere about the size of a quarter if you can. And glue AROUND the existing mic, don't want glue over the mic itself.

For testing different foam setups use a glue with a low tackyness so you can swap if it's inadequate.

Great vids. Looking forward to similar stuff (maybe a competition with a tuned up Hi-Point?)

  • @MuNkaPOtaMuS

There really isn't much you can do to tune a Hi-Point up. Polish the feed ramp, make sure the mag lips are adjusted properly, and that's pretty much it. The trigger is what it is. It's not horrible, but it's not awesome, either. 8 or so pounds, kind of gritty. The C9 will NEVER be a race gun, that just isn't what the universe intended for it.

  • Is there not a slide release on the Hi Point or have you been practicing your tap rack bang?

  • @lizard450

Those were the FTF's I mentioned.

  • @guntorturetests No, every time he reloads the firearm he racks the slide and not just when there is a FTF. I normally rack the slide during reload at the range when I am target shooting or doing jam drills and this translated into me doing it that way all the time. Which is usually fine, but in a competition like this where time matters using the slide release can save you a lot of time and thus I started practicing with the slide release.

  • @lizard450

    Ah, okay, I misunderstood.

On the C9, when the slide locks back on an empty mag, you have to pull it back a fraction of an inch to release the slide lock. There *is* a manual slide lock on the gun, but it doesn't come into play on an empty mag.

  • Nice job at 2:35 not sweeping the camera man.

  • @lizard450

    Nobody was swept.

  • @guntorturetests Yeah, that's why I said nice job. I appreciate safe gun handling on youtube videos.

  • That beard is awesome!

  • @philathea80

    Thanks! I like it.

  • @guntorturetests OMFG DUDE! You rock! You know who this is!

  • No worries Reg! Great video. People shouldn't be so concerned. You're putting in all the effort.

  • I've never been to Oil Captitol but you should check out USSA north of the Tulsa zoo its a bit closer to home and its a top notch facility. Looking forward to more videos.
