  • I've made spam musubi a few times, based on recipes i've come across online. So, I always feels like i'm probably doing it "wrong." I also add cream cheese, green onions and plum sauce when i made it. But I gotta know, why did you put the rice on top of the spam instead of the other way around?

  • @deadjerusalem I put the rice on "top" because when you wrap the nori (seaweed) around the musubi and turn it over, the Spam is now on top and the seam is on the bottom.

  • Thanks!

  • I had this for the first time last week. So simple yet very good!

  • I like how this is straight to the point and is less than 1 minute

  • what if u dont have a mold?

  • @MinioticFan it's easy to find a Spam musubi mold on eBay or Amazon

  • @MinioticFan you can cut off the end of the spam can and use your hands or a spoon to press it down :) or you can shape it with your hands. just make sure your hands are moistened with water

  • thats more like a sushi, musubi is a rice ball

  • Sooo good:))

  • jasmine rice for spam musubi, bruddah you're killing me!!! You gotta use Japanese rice for dis!!! AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • @808foodlover - I know. No excuse. I used what I had.

  • dude, thanks for this vid! havent been in hawaii in like 5 years, used to live on the airforce base. loved their food once i got used to the idea of eating spam lol

  • u forgot to put in the spam! LOL, thats just musubi (:

  • @NAPUA - at 0:11, the SPAM goes in. Then the rice goes on top.

  • where u get sea weed?

  • @H95Shooterv12 - we get our seaweed from the Korean grocery store. Your best bet in North Dakota might be the Asian & American Market in Fargo, or a well-stocked Asian aisle in the supermarket.

  • @murky2 thanks i wasnt thinking id get a reply so fast

  • oh yummmmmmmmmmmmm

  • hi, do u know where i can get the clear rectangular box to shape the spam musubi?

  • Search for "spam musubi mold" on eBay.

  • k thx =)

  • u can get it at wal mart or any marketss

  • or u can use the spam can and cut the top and the bottom off.

  • This is a nice video. Thanks. Nice pressing thingamajig.

  • awesome! i love the press!

  • that presser thingy looks pretty nifty

  • isnt it japanese, but very popular in hawaii?!

  • A musubi is Japanese, but a SPAM musubi is very Hawaiian.

  • korean nori is sooo good:D

  • i saw that molder on ebay or amazon

  • try to put a lil bit of wasabi between the rice and spam.. it tastes a lot better, mate..

  • Where you got the mold and the presser?

  • If you're in Hawaii, try Long's. If not, try eBay.

  • U dont know how!!!! Regula rice spam and seeweed! Das how.

  • Eh brah, you make 'um your way da kine, I make 'um my way da kine. No huhu brah!

  • ROFL. Indeed, nothing is wrong with making your musubi to your taste.

  • Nifty! I love your smasher molder thingy! I'm making this for lunch w/o a mold. It is fun, for a change, to eat food that is prepared to look as cute as this instead of just putting a pile of rice and sliced spam on a plate. It makes the meal more meaningful and it gets my daughter to eat better because it looks FUN. :)

  • If you're still looking for the spam musubi mold, you can get them at ebay seller disndat_1 or search for spam musubi maker.

  • [i miss eating spam musubi!!! i miss living in hawaii! ohio sucks!!!!]

  • I been Cleveland, Ohio before. It is not that bad.

  • I got it at Long's Drugs in Hawaii. Google around; somebody's got to be selling it online.

  • i just eat spam and rice it easier

  • thats some great stuff, how did you get a mold

  • Somebody took a look a the musubi and said, "eww, it's got seaweed on it - it's sushi! I ain't eating raw fish!" Some people just don't know what they're missing.

  • the better was is, grab a bowl with rice and spam and add soyu. then eat it with some sea weed. thats how i do it when i dont feel like making spam musubis

  • funny thing though, a lot of tourists don't actually like spam musubis, at least the ones i've talk to.

  • Most people don't get why Hawaiians like Spam so much. Das' okay, brah, mo' fo' us!

  • no fo real, i used to work at micky d's and the tourists would ask about the spam breakfast platter and ask why we like spam so much. hello! cuz we know how fo cook um! cook um with the shoyu or fry um plain but taste ono either way.

  • haha thanks! whats the fursomething you mentioned in the rice?

  • furikake - Japanese rice seasoning mix made with seaweed

  • oh i see...thanks

What kind of flavor does that add? Is it that important to the recipe?(i cooked this about 20 minutes ago, with no furikake though...)

  • It adds more seaweed flavor, plus whatever other flavorings are in the mix (sugar, salt, sesame seed, bonito, etc.)

Google it up, then gobble it up!

  • You could get molds on ebay lol or at any asian supermarket.

  • Where do you get a mold?

I mean, I've been making them myself and it's a pain in the ass to shape it into a rectangle.

Either that I just go to Star Market and buy one that's been sitting under the heat lamp for 5 hours.

    Ahahaha.

  • I got it from Long's a long <grin> time ago.

  • what kind of sauce do you dip the spam musubi in or do you not.

  • You don't need a dipping sauce. The Spam is salty enough.

  • No but it makes it a lot easier.

  • thanks alot man
