Kutuzov was really good, yet at the Battle of Borodino, he lost his mind, he went crazy, I mean pshyologically, he was no good for a general anymore, and the death of Bagration and the fail to win over the French at Borodino, Russia's heavy defeats, made him go wacko, it's really sad but that's how it is.... At one point he started shouting " How dare you, how dare you say that to me, if you have seen nonsense, than don't talk " to Benningsen when he came to say they lost, Kutuzov thought he won
@mdotty42 Yes, but there is huge difference British Empire was kind of stealing, lying and corrupted style Genghis Khan was conquering style, which is much greater.
@ModelCitizen999 you can't compare alexander the great to napoleon, they fought in different times against different enemies, they are both military geniuses
@ModelCitizen999 Alexander also received his throne as he was the heir apparent. Napoleon had to fight for it both on the battlefield and politically. The opponents of both Caesar and Alexande,r though their numbers were greater, don't really compare the vast coalitions that Napoleon went up against including Britain, Prussia, Austria, and France. Pompey or Darius III don't really compare to the Duke of Wellington, Blucher or even Kutuzov.
"Hardly the most impressive record". To my knowledge, nobody save napoleonic armies have conquered Berlin, Vienna, Madrid, Rome, Warsaw and Moscow. That is: all the most important capital cities of Europe, save only London. If you know some better military record, please ilustrate me.
Disn't Napoleon get his arse kicked on several occasions and abandon several armies? He left an army at Tyre and one in Egypt, when he was defeated by the British and the Turks, he left one in 1814 when he was defeated in Europe by the Russians, and he abandoned his army the following year after the French were trounced at Waterloo by the British and Prussians. Hardly the most impressive record.
He leave Egypt because of the political situation in France, to make a succesful putsch. But Ottomans and British don't defeat him in battle. He left his army after the disaster in Russia in 1812 ( not 1814) And that's all.
He lost Waterloo, and he quick come back to France.
@Chotec0 Now I remember, he left am army in Russia in 1812 and another before his surrender in 1814 and another after Waterloo in 1815. He was pretty much defeated at Tyre before any of that, and he had to abandon his army in Egypt because his fleet had been destroyed by Nelson at the Aboukir Bay (Battle of the Nile as it is erroneously called). General disaster...
@rahotep101 He don't left his army in 1814, he was forced to abdict by his Marshalls. He was about to go on Paris to liberate that city. He left Egypt because of the politcal situation. His Generals resist a long time in Egypte. But i agree that Egypt Travel was a disaster.
But I hope that you agree that he was a great general, the greatest if all time for me.

I believe Genghis Khan is the greatest of all conquerors. He started with nothing and created the largest empire the world has ever seen

@BathMan1918 One of the biggest. The British Empire is the largest empire the world has ever seen.

@mdotty42 That may be , but it was not created by one man
